Rotary engine?

edit

Hi Cbraga!

I would like to discuss your proposed merging of rotary engine into radial engine before actually requesting or doing it. As you can see in the page's history, the wankel engine and this engine were formerly both on this page and at that time, it was decided to move the wankel engine out, and not the currently described type of engine. Please visit the Rotary engine discussion page for discussing the issue. Thanks a lot! --XTaran | Talk 02:40, 31 Mar 2004 (UTC)

Why are you removing the bit about bounding boxes? Visibility checking of a node is done against its bounding box, and that should be mentioned. Fredrik 01:05, 1 Jun 2004 (UTC)

True, mentioning it in another paragraph might be a better idea. Ideally, articles should be written so that they are useful to both experts and people with little knowledge in the field. By the way, are you interested in rewriting (or rather, writing - it's hardly an article at the moment) the binary space partition article? Preferrably that article should cover BSP rendering in general (so DOOM engine doesn't have to), including detailed discussion of both back-to-front and front-to-back rendering. Last, note that you can and should sign your comments with ~~~~. Regards, Fredrik 01:26, 1 Jun 2004 (UTC)

The reason it shouldn't really just be "expanded", but rewritten from scratch, is that it currently mostly consists of excerpts from other texts.

I'd say it should be structured something like this:

(lead section)

-Partitioning space
(description of how it works)

-BSP rendering

--Back-to-front

--Front-to-back

-BSP generation
(efficiency considerations, etc)

-Other applications

-History

Thoughts? Also, I can do illustrations for the article, so tell me if you have any ideas for those. Fredrik 01:56, 1 Jun 2004 (UTC)
