Sure I'll get onto them. May I suggest that you sign up to the WikiProject Football/Celtic F.C. task force. Adam4267 (talk) 20:15, 23 November 2011 (UTC)Reply

There isn't a 'Wikipedia' e-mail or anything as such, just these talk pages. I'd prefer not to give out my personal e-mail if that's ok. I know that Wikipedia is a bit daunting at first but you'll get to know how to work it eventually. When I first started I was completely useless but I'm not bad now. I'm very glad to have another Celtic editor on board because I'm really the only one.
Here's a few tips;
  • Sign all your messages on talk pages with four tildes, ~~(these things)~~
  • Everything needs to be referenced, basically providing a source which agrees with the information you are putting into articles. This is usually newspaper articles but if you have any good books or anything they'll do. I keep this simple blank template to make things easier.[1] (you'll have to edit this page to see it)
  • Basically just get out there and start editing, the majority of CFC related stuff is awful and if you feel like improving any of it go ahead. A really good place for sources is the Sky Sports news archives.
  • If you ever need any advice feel free to ask me or at Wikipedia talk:WikiProject Football where someone will always try and help. Adam4267 (talk) 20:35, 23 November 2011 (UTC)Reply
Yes, I worked very hard to get Hooper and Brown up to Good articles status. I was trying to get Ledley up as well but sort of gave up. I'll put an assist section in for Hooper if you don't mind updating it. Adam4267 (talk) 20:44, 23 November 2011 (UTC)Reply
Not sure, I am halfway through this table so I'll save it in my userspace. The problem is most major stats websites don't record assissts and especially not for his lower league clubs. Adam4267 (talk) 20:53, 23 November 2011 (UTC)Reply
Here's the table [1], I've removed it for the now because we don't have any of the stats. Although to be honest, now looking at it, I don't especially like the table with the assists in it. Adam4267 (talk) 21:08, 23 November 2011 (UTC)Reply
Ok I've done Kayal's section, what do you think? Adam4267 (talk) 21:50, 23 November 2011 (UTC)Reply
Cheers, I'll get started on Forrest's later - probably tomorrow. As I said above would you like to add your name to this. It is for all the people interested in editing Celtic. Although me and Warburton are really the only ones that actually do anything and he's a Hearts fan! TBH you are already one of the most active Celtic FC editors, we really could use more people. Adam4267 (talk) 22:07, 23 November 2011 (UTC)Reply
Just go into the participants section and type your username like all the others are. Adam4267 (talk) 22:15, 23 November 2011 (UTC)Reply
Yes! good work, there's another IP who updates stats as well and I have invited him to create an account. I am very happy now because a couple of days ago I was pretty much the only user trying to improve coverage on Celtic. Now another guy is making some old season articles (1966-67 Celtic F.C. season, 1999–2000 Celtic F.C. season) and you are here as well (I hope here to stay). You do a great job every week of updating stats and even if you keep doing that I'll be happy :) Adam4267 (talk) 22:29, 23 November 2011 (UTC)Reply
You did a great job, as usual, updating stats. I also liked your edit to Georgios Samaras, that was good, just one thing to remember. Always refer to players by their second name. The only time you should refer to them by their first name is when you are specifically trying to distinguish them from another player with the same name. Well done on putting a reference in as well, you are learning really quickly. Just remember to try and fill it out fully, (you can use the template I gave you above if you wish) don't worry about it this time though I've done it.. Also, while this isn't a policy, I personally try and keep all the info about each season for a player in it's own paragraph. I think it looks better and I think that if you have a different paragraph for every bit of information during each season the page would become overwhelmingly large. Thanks again and KUTGW!   Welcome to Wikipedia. Everyone is welcome to contribute constructively to the encyclopedia. However, the username you have chosen (CelticFootballClub1888) seems to imply that you are editing on behalf of a group, company or website.

There are two issues with this:

  1. It is possible that you have a conflict of interest. In keeping with Wikipedia's neutral point of view policy, you must exercise great caution when editing on topics related to your organization or adding links to its website.
  2. Your account cannot represent a group of people. You may wish to create a new account with a username that represents only you. Alternatively, you may consider changing your username to avoid giving the impression that your personal account is being used for promotional purposes.

Regardless of whether you change your name or create a new account, you are not exempted from the guidelines concerning editing where you have a conflict of interest. Georgios Samaras

edit

Yeh I was thinking that as well, the page is of a pretty high standard already and I think it could achieve GA status with a bit of work. However, it does take a fair amount of time to do this and I am quite busy at the moment. I will try though but I need you to do several things for me. Firstly, find sources for his time at Hereenveen and Man City, as well as his Personal/Early life and Early career then add this stuff to the article. This is the Good article criteria, if you could take care of 2&3, I could do 1&4 and I'm sure we it would have it ready for nomination pretty soon. Adam4267 (talk) 18:40, 27 November 2011 (UTC)Reply

I did think before that it may have been hard to find sources for his early career but you seem to have found some stuff which isn't already in there which is really good. I have to go off now and do some work and I'm not sure if I'll get back on later, but I will try. Why don't you have a go at expading the first two sections for now, also try and find out how much Celtic paid for him and there is a sentence with no ref toward the end of "International career", please try and find a ref for that. You have already done a great job in finding all those sources and if you just add the basic information in the sources to the article, I'll tidy it up and link stuff etc. Thanks very much mate. Adam4267 (talk) 19:11, 27 November 2011 (UTC)Reply
Trust me mate, when I started at this I wasn't great either. You will learn how to use Wikipedia and you will also become better at writing if you keep doing it. Thanks for finding that ref, I will try to add a bit more about his early life now. Adam4267 (talk) 20:29, 27 November 2011 (UTC)Reply
No, I think his goal tally with all clubs is currently correct. The sources given have the correct goals/apps for his time at City and Celtic so I would think that they are correct for Heerenveen as well. Adam4267 (talk) 20:47, 27 November 2011 (UTC)Reply
Cheers mate. I need to add refs to it then I'll try and update his time at Heerenveen with those refs you gave me. Adam4267 (talk) 20:54, 27 November 2011 (UTC)Reply
Yeh, I'll do his City section another time and the Celtic section is pretty good so I wont do much to it. Adam4267 (talk) 21:05, 27 November 2011 (UTC)Reply

December 2011

edit

Just a heads up, someone has already updated Hooper's stats from todays match. Adam4267 (talk) 16:34, 4 December 2011 (UTC)Reply

Maybe I will do that in the future, but right now I'm focusing on getting articles up to GA and it would be impossible to do Kayal's because of the lack of sources about his time at Maccabi. As you know I am doing Samaras right now and have expanded his City and Heerenveen sections. Although I'm still finding it a bit difficult to find sources for his time in Holland. Adam4267 (talk) 17:04, 4 December 2011 (UTC)Reply
It's not so much about not finding sources, it's that they are not really there. The only thing is the Sky Sports News archive, which is really basic but I suppose it's better than nothing. I will try and get Samaras' page finished by the end of the week. I still have to finish off the City and Heerenveen sections, espand and tidy the Celtic section and expand the Style of Play section. I think it is not bad though and should pass GA. If you really want to make Kayal's page better you could do it yourself, Scott Brown's is a good example to follow and you can always ask me if you need any help with anything.
