Proposed deletion of Topographic name
editA proposed deletion template has been added to the article Topographic name, suggesting that it be deleted according to the proposed deletion process because of the following concern:
- This seems to be a misplaced wiktionary entry, not an article
All contributions are appreciated, but this article may not satisfy Wikipedia's criteria for inclusion, and the deletion notice should explain why (see also "What Wikipedia is not" and Wikipedia's deletion policy). You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{dated prod}}
notice, but please explain why you disagree with the proposed deletion in your edit summary or on its talk page.
Please consider improving the article to address the issues raised because, even though removing the deletion notice will prevent deletion through the proposed deletion process, the article may still be deleted if it matches any of the speedy deletion criteria or it can be sent to Articles for Deletion, where it may be deleted if consensus to delete is reached. Clan Wood Motto
editI think that I understand the confusion in this instance and how it came about. The Motto of the Clan is the motto of the first Chief Sir.Andrew Wood " tutus in undis ". The motto " Defend " is the motto of Wood of Bonnytoun, Which is not the chiefly line for the Clan Wood ( per the Court of the Lord Lyon King of Arms of Scotland ). All of this info is available on the website of the Clan Wood Society located at http://www.clan-wood.org.uk/. I am a Council member and web administrator for the Clan Wood Society. My name is Stephen Wood of Roanoke Va. If there are any further questions please feel free to contact the society through the website mentioned above. I will respond to any questions posed to me here on Wikipedia but I am rarely logged in to this site, so it might be awhile before I see them. Thank you for your interest in Clan Wood history. -Steve (Norinko (talk) 05:30, 20 April 2009 (UTC))
Sorry but had another thought. We also did have the Wood of Bonytoun Motto shown on a badge on the web page for some time as there was not a image of the proper badge available for post. However this has been remedied as is evident with a visit to the above referenced web page of the society. :) (Norinko (talk) 05:53, 20 April 2009 (UTC))
Blazon of the arms of Wood of largo
editAs supplied by the Lyon Clerk -
Shield: Argent, an oak tree Vert eradicated Proper fructeted Or.
Crest: a ship under sail Proper.
Motto: Tutus in Undis.
Supporters: Two sailors Proper, their caps and jackets Vert, their lapels, cuffs and trousers Argent.
Within the Clan the Ship is by tradition considered to be the " Yellow Caravel " Admiral Sir. Andrews prefered Flag Ship. and is always shown thus. I do plan to get it all in there, alas my real world work load is great and I am slow. lol :) I am open to others assisting :)
The other badge was propagated by bucket shops, and unfortunately took on a life of its own much like a computer virus. The savage is the crest of wood of Bonytoun, not the chiefly line, but still an important sept within the Clan. The Arms of Wood of Bonytoun are posted on the main page of the Clan Wood site also. The Bonytoun crest was on the Society site due to a lack of images of the proper crest.:)(Norinko (talk) 04:18, 21 April 2009 (UTC))—Preceding unsigned comment added by Norinko (talk • contribs) 04:09, 21 April 2009 (UTC)

editClan Martin is with us again
editThanks for the kind words on the battles, I just got a bit frustrated with the state of ones near places I knew well - these long direct quotes from old sources really are inpenetrable. Unfortunately I've got a bit stalled towards the end of the 15th century ones, I was hoping to take a bit of a break before hitting the 16th century... Anyway, purpose of this note was to mention that Clan Martin is no longer a red link - I see you know the history there much better than I do, so I thought I'd dump it on you to sort out. :-)) Cheers Le Deluge (talk) 11:10, 23 April 2009 (UTC)
