I found ~420 more after going through Cewbot's last 25k edits as of around the time I originally posted, giving an error rate of ~1.6%. If someone thinks that's worth stopping that task, please do so.   ~ Tom.Reding (talk ⋅dgaf)  17:57, 29 June 2024 (UTC)

{{WikiProject Cooperation}}[3] is/was also affected, and at least 3 WikiProject-adjacent templates: {{WIR-220}}[4], {{WikiProject Black Lives Matter July 2020}}[5], & {{WikiProject Unreferenced Article Cleanup}}[6]. Anchors

It looks as if the broken anchor notifications are being moved from talk pages to mainspace - just wanted to say that this is a good change. Thanks,  Mr.choppers | ✎  18:27, 3 July 2024 (UTC)

It's infrequent that I disagree with Mr.Choppers, but I think this is generally unhelpful. Burying the diff in the wiki markup instead of having it on the talk page makes it harder to determine why the anchor was broken (e.g. if it was a disruptive edit and can be, or already was, simply reverted). I also question the value of having that note inline with the link - while broken anchors are a detriment, calling them out like that would only confuse the average reader more, since those who don't edit Wikipedia probably aren't going to know what it means. As long as it gets to the correct article, not getting to the correct section is often no more than a minor inconvenience, so it does little good for the reader to see it.
