Posting help
editHello! I was wondering if I could get a little help from an experienced wiki user such as yourself. I'd like to post an entry for rideau.com They were the first Canadian company to create the Order of Canada metal. Today they've expanded to doing "recognition programs" for other companies. But I'm afraid it'll be flagged and removed for being too "advertisingy." Do you have any tips? Thanks so so much! Cfscwg (talk) 20:45, 19 December 2008 (UTC)
- I'd be happy to help, and I am familiar with Rideau. I suggest you post what you've got to a non-mainspace page first (I suggest User:Cfscwg/Sandbox), where you can get others like me to look it over before opening it up for public scrutiny. If you already wrote a bunch for an article, and it was deleted and you don't have a copy, you can usually ask the deleting administrator to copy the deleted text to your talk page for you.
- Let me know when you'd like me to take a look. Best regards! --Eustress (talk) 20:55, 19 December 2008 (UTC)
- Will do!! Thank you so much!! Cfscwg (talk) 21:27, 19 December 2008 (UTC)
More posting help
editHello again! I finally got to it, and as you suggested I made a sandbox page and tried it out. When you have a second could you take a quick look and tell me what you think? http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/User:Cfscwg/Sandbox (I wasn't able to upload a picture, I'm assuming this is due to me "newbie-ness".) Thanks again!! Cfscwg (talk) 16:44, 5 January 2009 (UTC)
- This is helpful to see. I've posted some suggestions for salvaging the article at User talk:Cfscwg/Sandbox. I don't know your personal objectives in promoting this page, but if you want to invest more time into it, then I'm happy to continue to offer suggestions. If you would rather have someone else just do it for you, there are some good wiki consultants I could recommend. Cheers! --Eustress (talk) 03:55, 6 January 2009 (UTC)
Guidance part 2!
editHello again, after you took the time to help me out, and left me those thoughtful comments in my sandbox, I gave it another whirl. Would you mind taking a quick look again and let me know if I'm going in the right direction? Again, thank you so much! Cfscwg (talk) 03:14, 17 January 2009 (UTC)
- Yes, I think you (or whoever that IP address is) has made some good modifications, but a lot of work is still needed. I would be willing to help out in exchange for a Rescue Barnstar (review WP:BS about barnstars). If you'd like others to help out instead, you might consider making a post on WP:JOB. I do a lot to help out editors without asking anything in return when I know they'll be future contributors to Wikipedia in general, but you've only made edits to this page, and I've helped others in similar situations only to have them stop contributing when their target article is posted for good. Like I said before, I don't know your intentions, so I'll leave the decision up to you. Feel free to email me if you'd like to discuss this off-page too. --Eustress (talk) 22:23, 17 January 2009 (UTC)
- Absolutely! If you think work is still needed, by all means! A rescue barnstar would be well deserved. I do appreciate your help. I did my best, but I guess I'm still not sure what exactly can make or break it. As for my further contributions, I'll be perfectly honest, I am a frequent wikipedia user/consulter, and now that I've had some practice with editing, I think I'll be more inclined to spontaneous contribution, but I won't pretend I'll be seeking things to amend. Take that for what it's worth. But if you feel like helping out, absolutely, I welcome it, tis the spirit of wikipedia I believe. :) Cfscwg (talk) 02:25, 23 January 2009 (UTC)
- Sounds good...I'll start working on the article soon! --Eustress (talk) 16:06, 23 January 2009 (UTC)

→I've started serious work on the article. There are a lot of tags I have added to indicate facts that were not supported by the source provided, so you can either locate citations or I will just remove the information. Wikipedia is not a place for original publication (see WP:NOT#OR) but has to be supported by reliable sources. I will continue to work on it but will await your instruction with regards to the citation issues. --Eustress (talk) 01:07, 24 January 2009 (UTC)
Done
editRideau is now an article in and of its own. Work still needs to be done, as noted above, but I've done all that I can do for now. I've also presented it for a WP:DYK nomination to try to help it get exposure and editing assistance (see Template_talk:Did_you_know#Articles_created.2Fexpanded_on_January_30). I hope this is sufficient to meet our agreement, as explained above. Best regards --Eustress (talk) 23:14, 30 January 2009 (UTC)
Cool
editThanks for the award. Don't be a stranger :) --Eustress (talk) 03:32, 2 February 2009 (UTC)
- Absolutely! ... says the girl who hasn't been poking around for 2 weeks ;) Baby steps, right? :) --Cfscwg (talk) 20:36, 19 February 2009 (UTC)
