Orphaned non-free image File:College Football Playoff National Championship Trophy.jpg

Thanks for uploading File:College Football Playoff National Championship Trophy.jpg. The image description page currently specifies that the image is non-free and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. However, the image is currently not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the image was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. However, please note that images for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable for use on Wikipedia (see our policy for non-free media).

Note that any non-free images not used in any articles will be deleted after seven days, as described in the criteria for speedy deletion. Thank you. --B-bot (talk) 18:45, 13 January 2016 (UTC)

I have fixed the error in the article College Football Playoff National Championship Trophy, which includes the image file of the trophy. Please do not delete the image file. It should not be orphaned at this point. Thank you. Charlesaaronthompson (talk) 18:52, 13 January 2016 (UTC)

Followup on supplying other site's credentials

As we had already discussed in July 2015, please do not list credentials to login to other websites, as you recently repeated twice at Talk:San Antonio Spurs. There is no consensus to allow this practice that likely circumvents the terms and conditions of other websites. This appears to be a violation of the spirit of WP:NOT. Thanks.—Bagumba (talk) 20:24, 13 January 2016 (UTC)

Sorry about that. :( I guess I must have forgotten about that. I was just trying to clarify how I accessed certain documents in order to verify the authenticity and official nature of the San Antonio Spurs' Reproduction Guideline Sheet. I'm not trying to be defiant here, I'm just trying to comply with Wikipedia guidelines. Now I know not to supply any restricted site's credentials, in order to not violate the spirit of WP:NOT. How do you suggest I go forward in the future in order to not supply any restricted site's credentials, Bagumba? Charlesaaronthompson (talk) 20:30, 13 January 2016 (UTC)
Point users to WP:SOURCEACCESS. Just because someone else can't access a source, doesn't necessarily mean it's not a valid reliable source. If dispute resolution is needed, use the reliable sources noticeboard. Thanks for your understanding.—Bagumba (talk) 20:36, 13 January 2016 (UTC)

WP:CRYSTAL

Be sure to read WP:CRYSTAL in regards to stadium tenant lists. Generally, even when a website gives a planned set of dates a team will play at a stadium, we only include the start year since the end year is subject to change. The stadium in Inglewood hasn't even started yet, so a number of factors could delay its completion. The 2018 date should be mentioned in the body of the article, but for the tenant list it should say "2016–present" until the Rams actually leave (same for TCF Bank Stadium and the Vikings) and any mention of 2018 has to include something to make it clear it's a tentative or planned date. Leaving it as is in the lead without specifying 2018 now means there's less information that could potentially be out of date. When the Rams leave, then it can be updated to past tense with the specific years they played there. --JonRidinger (talk) 21:34, 19 January 2016 (UTC)

Actually, construction has started on the City of Champions Stadium in Inglewood, California. Ground was broken on site way back in October 2015. However, I still see your point and promise to leave it alone. I tried to mention that the Rams plan on playing at the Los Angeles Memorial Coliseum from 2016–2018 in the lead paragraph. Charlesaaronthompson (talk) 21:40, 19 January 2016 (UTC)
That's fine, but since it states it is a temporary home, that's good enough for the lead. The details of the planned years are in the body of the article later on. Once the Rams do move, then the lead can be updated again. This way, if delays happen, for instance, we won't have to constantly keep updating the lead. --JonRidinger (talk) 16:15, 20 January 2016 (UTC)

Kansas City Chiefs

While the image itself appears to be official with the NFL Enterprises copyright on the bottom, per WP:RELIABLE because it is uploaded to personal (not an official page affiliated with the Chiefs or NFL) it qualifies as WP:USERGENERATED because Wordpress is in a way, social media. Please read these policies and try to find the logo slick on a reliable source before you add it back. Why we have to consider this not reliable because it is a personal page and we have to assume that was made in Photoshop or other photo editing software.

There's also the issue that a reliable source already exists for the official team colors, so an additional source is also unnecessary--Rockchalk717 03:30, 22 January 2016 (UTC)

That is a WP:RELIABLE source. Please DO NOT remove it again. It came from this thread, which is titled "OFFICIAL NFL LOGO SLICKS" (the actual list of each of the 32 NFL team logo slicks–including the Kansas City Chiefs–is found here). The actual Logo Slick was downloaded from this source, which is an OFFICIAL NFL source. Please DO NOT remove it. It is OFFICIAL. I have searched the Internet far and wide for it, and the sources I have listed are as official as possible. Also, it is NOT WP:USERGENERATED, and it DOES NOT come from Wordpress. It was hosted on Microsoft's OneDrive. It is NOT a personal page, and was NOT created or modded using Photoshop software by anyone else other than NFL Properties. Charlesaaronthompson (talk) 05:44, 22 January 2016 (UTC)
You just further proved my point. Footballidiot.com itself appears to be an unreliable source per WP:USERGENERATED especially since that is a thread on a website. And the user that uploaded your "reliable source" is named "pick6" which obviously not the name a "known expert" which is required for these types of websites. Do not add back until we have this issue resolved and do not start an WP:EDITWAR with me on this subject which will happen if you continue to add it back in which puts us both at risk for a block. Continuing to add back this obviously (per policy) unreliable source will result in me having an admin intervene. In fact, forget that, I'm involving an admin immediately.--Rockchalk717 07:50, 22 January 2016 (UTC)
Did not request admin intervention however I did file a request using Wikipedia:Requests for comment. Until this has been completed and neutral party comments on the situation, please do not add the source back in. This is a necessary process to help determine if it is a reliable source. The request is on the talk page of the article but don't comment on it until someone honors the request for comment.--Rockchalk717 08:02, 22 January 2016 (UTC)
ALSO the website you gave in your edit summary is a redirect to NFL communications homepage so that wouldn't be reliable either. If this logo slick can be located on that website then we can use it as reliable source.--Rockchalk717 08:07, 22 January 2016 (UTC)
What don't you get? The sources I have provided are WP:RELIABLE, especially when they came from NFLCommunications.com. Please STOP removing those references. I'm not interested in getting into an WP:EDITWAR with you, so here's ANOTHER REFERENCE which states that the reference from NFLMedia.com is OFFICIAL. I don't know how I proved your point, because the FootballIdiot.com website hosted the Logo Slick, which was downloaded from NFLMedia.com (Perhaps we can use the NFLMedia.com URL as a reference, in the spirit of compromise?). Please STOP removing that reference. I have contacted the Chiefs' PR Department on Twitter directly to ask about finding an official Logo Slick from the Chiefs' website, since that's only what you'll accept. Charlesaaronthompson (talk) 17:39, 22 January 2016 (UTC)
This source is basically "this site got it from this site and that site got it from this site which is a reliable source" which does not make the individual website you are citing a reliable source. Anyways, as far as dealing with you directly is concerned I'm done discussing this with you until my requests for intervention are completed. Also I'm not out for you by removing the followup source you added. To put it simple, the official team colors part of the Infobox already has a reliable source listed directly from NFL.com and a second source is unnecessary is also part of my issue.--Rockchalk717 04:29, 23 January 2016 (UTC)
OK, fine, I'll agree to not add it back until WP:CONSENSUS is reached as to whether it is a reliable source or not, per the other discussion on the Kansas City Chiefs' talk page, and the reliable sources noticeboard. I'll promise to respect the process. I'm only promising to respect the process in order to avoid being blocked again for edit-warring and violating the three-revert rule again. The last thing you or I want is to be blocked because we edit-warred over this. Charlesaaronthompson (talk) 07:49, 23 January 2016 (UTC)
Thank you. I don't ever want any editor to think I'm starting an edit war.--Rockchalk717 03:46, 25 January 2016 (UTC)
I have noticed that you similar sources in place on most team pages. Just wanted to give a heads up that I'm about to removed them since it is looking like this source is going to be declared as not being reliable.--Rockchalk717 06:18, 26 January 2016 (UTC)

I'm fine with you removing the references, so long as you don't change the HTML color codes. Also, I'd like to refer you to this reference from TeamColors.Arc90.com. Charlesaaronthompson (talk) 06:30, 26 January 2016 (UTC)

Yet another unreliable source. That appears to be another user generated source. Also, I did remove the HTML colors that did not match the official team colors in the reliable source given for team colors. We have to go by what can be proven on here, and if I can't prove from a reliable source that white (in pretty much every case) is an official team color, then it shouldn't be included.--Rockchalk717 07:09, 26 January 2016 (UTC)
I disagree. The TeamColors.Arc90.com reference IS a WP:RELIABLE source. "All NFL colors are official (see sources below). The NFL provides official RGB, HEX, CMYK, and Pantone colors (so none of the colors you see on Team Colors are conversions)." Charlesaaronthompson (talk) 07:12, 26 January 2016 (UTC)

NFL colors

Not sure if you saw the thread I started at Wikipedia_talk:WikiProject_National_Football_League#Color_dispute:_the_issue_besides_reliability. I'm not really that involved with colors and am only trying to facilitate an agreement, so I'm OK if you want to let the issue die.—Bagumba (talk) 22:24, 26 January 2016 (UTC)

I'm in agreement here. I just want the issue to die. I'm not trying to badmouth any other editor, but why does Rockchalk717 (talk) feel like the sources I used aren't official? Yes, I know that the NFLMedia.com sources now redirect to NFLCommunications.com. I mean, I tried to tell Rockchalk717 that "All NFL colors are official (see sources below). The NFL provides official RGB, HEX, CMYK, and Pantone colors (so none of the colors you see on Team Colors are conversions)." (side note: that's from TeamColors.Arc90.com). I mean, I've tried to reason with him (I suggested using the NFLMedia.com/3-letter conference abbreviation_division name.zip URL as references (for example, [1]), but he wouldn't entertain that idea). I mean, I understand how he feels, that it came from a forum, and that he doesn't think it's a reliable source, but I'm tired of arguing with other editors (not just him, but also Y2kcrazyjoker4 (talk), among others) about official sports team colors/sources. I'm not trying to claim ownership; I just don't understand why this is an issue with other editors. I hope I don't get blocked for saying all this. I've tried really hard not to edit-war with other editors, and to not violate the three-revert rule again, since that's how I got blocked in the past. Charlesaaronthompson (talk) 01:25, 27 January 2016 (UTC)
My issue with your sources is most of them qualify as WP:USERGENERATED meaning someone other then a known expert (ESPN or NFL Network analyst) or someone affiliated with the team (team Twitter pages) generated the source themself. But I am wiling to let his die. This has blown way out of proportion and my suggestion is if you have a source that is not from ESPN.com, NFL.com, newspapers, etc., run it by other more experienced (not even talking about myself) editors first because (no personal attack intended and I apologize if it is offensive) you don't seem to understand what qualifies as a reliable source. So I will back off, so long as you thoroughly read WP:RS even if you have read the page before, read it again, and we will not have any issues as long as your sources are reliable and you source potential controversial edits. I sincerely apologize if my wording here makes me sound arrogant, that's not my intention, there just isn't very many good ways to say what I wanted to say without sounding arrogant.--Rockchalk717 05:53, 27 January 2016 (UTC)

Ownership

Please do not tell your fellow editors to "Please leave this alone", as you did with your talk page comment and your edit summary related to Template:Oklahoma City Thunder seasons. The Wikipedia policy on ownership states: "No one, no matter how skilled, or how high standing in the community, has the right to act as though they are the owner of a particular page." Given your edit-warring history, this does not reflect well on your ability to edit collaboratively here.—Bagumba (talk) 23:45, 27 January 2016 (UTC)

Fine, I'm sorry. I don't own any articles/text therein. I'm getting increasingly frustrated with other editors. All I'm trying to do is make constructive edits. Charlesaaronthompson (talk) 00:07, 28 January 2016 (UTC)
Maybe take a wikibreak? Wikis by their nature are collaborative, which isn't the right environment for everyone. If you desire more creative control, a personal site would be a better option, but you lose out on other people helping you build content. It's a tradeoff.—Bagumba (talk) 00:24, 28 January 2016 (UTC)

Thank you for your contributions to Wikipedia. It appears that you copied or moved text from Super Bowl XLIX into another page. While you are welcome to re-use Wikipedia's content, here or elsewhere, Wikipedia's licensing does require that you provide attribution to the original contributor(s). When copying within Wikipedia, this is supplied at minimum in an edit summary at the page into which you've copied content. It is good practice, especially if copying is extensive, to also place a properly formatted {{copied}} template on the talk pages of the source and destination. The attribution has been provided for this situation, but if you have copied material between pages before, even if it was a long time ago, please provide attribution for that duplication. You can read more about the procedure and the reasons at Wikipedia:Copying within Wikipedia. Thank you. —Bagumba (talk) 04:18, 29 January 2016 (UTC)

I guess you missed my comment at Files for discussion. Final play of Super Bowl XLIX is an unnecessary page fork when there is already an article on the game, not to mention the copy-past issues. I'm going to redirect it to Super Bowl XLIX. If you wish to contest it, I can open an WP:AFD.—Bagumba (talk) 04:21, 29 January 2016 (UTC)
I saw that. I created the article because I believed it was a notable play that needed its own separate article. I wish to contest the redirect. Also, I'm sorry. I forgot to add a {{copied}} template on the article's talk page. I'm doing it now. Charlesaaronthompson (talk) 04:25, 29 January 2016 (UTC)
No one doubts it's a notable play. There is no reason to make a duplicate copy of content already in a larger article. Do you see a precedent for this?—Bagumba (talk) 04:27, 29 January 2016 (UTC)
But why is there a separate article for Final play of Super Bowl XXXIV, when there's the article Super Bowl XXXIV? Charlesaaronthompson (talk) 04:28, 29 January 2016 (UTC)
WP:OTHERSTUFF isn't the best argument. The question you need to answer is, "Why does it need to be separate article?" See the guideline, WP:AVOIDSPLIT.—Bagumba (talk) 04:35, 29 January 2016 (UTC)
OK, fine then. Go ahead and delete the article Final play of Super Bowl XLIX, as well as the photo File:Super Bowl XLIX final play.jpg. Charlesaaronthompson (talk) 04:48, 29 January 2016 (UTC)
OK. I redirected Final play of Super Bowl XXXIV also. Take a look at WP:N if you want more background on what articles are generally created. Sorry about the inconvenience, I know it can be confusing when there's existing examples.—Bagumba (talk) 04:52, 29 January 2016 (UTC)
I have one more request: now that you've redirected Final play of Super Bowl XXXIV, could you or another admin please delete that article, since the information's covered in the main article? I've already removed the wikilinks to that article from the relevant templates. Charlesaaronthompson (talk) 05:27, 29 January 2016 (UTC)
Per WP:RFD#HARMFUL, Final play of Super Bowl XXXIV shouldn't be deleted since it's been around for a while.—Bagumba (talk) 05:56, 29 January 2016 (UTC)

New Orleans Pelicans

How so?DangerousJXD (talk) 22:05, 30 January 2016 (UTC)

I've checked the WP:CONTRAST using both Gold and Red as background colors. For reference, here's the contrast level with a Gold background and white text: [2]. The reference (from Snook.ca, a reliable contrast checker) says the two mixed colors are not contrast compliant (in any form, including WCAG 2 AA (18pt+) and WCAG 2 AAA (18pt+)), meaning that people that may have color blindness might not be able to see the colors on-screen. By contrast, here's the contrast level with a Red background and white text: [3], also from Snook.ca. That reference says those two mixed colors are contrast compliant (sort of, the brightness difference is greater than 125, but the color difference is not greater than 500). It also says the red background & white text colors are compliant in WCAG 2 AA (18pt+), and WCAG 2 AAA (18pt+), but not compliant in WCAG 2 AAA. So, that's my explanation for how I determined that having a red background with white text is easier for people who might be color-blind to see on-screen than a gold background with white text. I figured that all 3 of the New Orleans Pelicans' main colors should be represented in the template. Charlesaaronthompson (talk) 23:20, 30 January 2016 (UTC)
But you called the current scheme better. I disagree. How is it better? I don't see how contrast could be an issue when it has nothing to do with the background. In infoboxes, the background is blue, not gold or red. I didn't actually change that. I changed the colour of the border because how it is now is too similar to the Washington Wizards' colours and it's not actually clear that it's the Pelicans' colours. Having gold, like the New Orleans Pelicans article does, is more appropriate as it's clearly the Pelicans' colours and nobody else's. You should change the article to be the same as the module if you're going to have it like that.. The article also lists gold in the infobox before red. Anyway, despite me thinking the current colours are bad, I really don't care very much. Have the colours how you see fit. —DangerousJXD (talk) 01:20, 31 January 2016 (UTC)
@DangerousJXD: I'm going to change the New Orleans Pelicans' colors at Module:Basketball color/data. There's no reason to include all 3 colors. This article from Pelicans.com (way back when the new name, logos and colors were revealed in 2013) states that the primary color is Navy blue, and the secondary color is Gold. You're right. Blue and red are too similar to the Washington Wizards' colors. I'm changing the border color at the module to fit the Pelicans' color scheme. I just thought I'd give you a heads-up. I'm going to change it so the basestyle in the New Orleans Pelicans' template is gold, not red. Charlesaaronthompson (talk) 22:47, 3 April 2016 (UTC)

Suggestion

Just FYI, any time a news article is cited, even if the news article is online, the "cite news" or "cite press release" template should be used, not "cite web". "Cite web" would be for info such as the "About Us" section or general info cited on the web page that isn't presented in a publication (like a PDF) or as a news release. --JonRidinger (talk) 05:05, 31 January 2016 (UTC)

And what if it's published in an online newspaper? For example, what if I found a news article on the Los Angeles Times' website? Should I use |newspaper= instead of |publisher=? Charlesaaronthompson (talk) 21:13, 31 January 2016 (UTC)
If it's from the online version of a newspaper, use "newspaper" since it would likely be printed as well. News stories are often used as citations, but are not required have a URL, like in the case of articles found on microfilm (which I have used many times). "Publisher" seems more appropriate for "cite web" and "cite press release". --JonRidinger (talk) 23:47, 31 January 2016 (UTC)

Please read WP:NOTBROKEN. UW Dawgs (talk) 19:32, 3 February 2016 (UTC)

OK, I'll read it. I only tried to update those wikilinks in order for them to show up in the template and on the New Orleans/Oklahoma City Hornets article. I'm going to take a break from editing for a while, so as not to be blocked from editing. The last thing I want is to be blocked for violating the three-revert rule again. Questions

Charles, I have two questions. First, why did you remove the Miami reference from Vermont when it says that it is used for the hex code? There is no reason to remove it, simply because the other reference does not include the hex code. That is why the note was there, which is discussed on the module's talk page. Secondly, why is it so hard for you to not be able to update all articles of a team if you change the colors like you did for the University of Kentucky? I believe I asked you/told you back in September 2015 to do this. ❄ Corkythehornetfan15:24, 6 February 2016 (UTC)

@Corkythehornetfan: I removed the Miami reference from Vermont at Module:College color/data because the University of Miami (Florida) and the University of Vermont are two separate and distinct universities. Also, at the module, I have added a new reference that applies to the Vermont Catamounts. It comes from the University of Vermont's Style Guide (the page number I linked to gives the athletic color guidelines). Also, is there a faster way to update all of the articles at once, rather than having to manually update them one at a time? Charlesaaronthompson (talk) 18:54, 6 February 2016 (UTC)
But this displays the hex codes and Vermont's doesn't... both have the same CMYK values. I realize they are two separate universities, but if one has the same code and looks identical, why not just use that? FFCC00 was also a good code, it's just the web safe code... I don't see why that needed changed either? I won't change it, but it just doesn't make sense to me. And no, there isn't a faster way, yet. Right now, you'll have to do it manually. ❄ Corkythehornetfan19:24, 6 February 2016 (UTC)
"is there a faster way to update all of the articles at once": As I had suggest above at #Template colors, it will be more manageable long-term to access the colors from a centralized template instead of hard coding it everywhere. I understand we are all volunteers here. I don't have a big enough interest in colors to drive this, and neither of you might either (so this is the last time I'll offer unsolicited advice on this subject). But there is a solution if anyone is willing to coordinate it.—Bagumba (talk) 20:36, 6 February 2016 (UTC)
@Bagumba: So if I talk with Frietjes & DL, would you tag along and help work on getting this fixed? I'm all for it... 🇺🇸 Corkythehornetfan 🇺🇸 04:12, 11 February 2016 (UTC)
What kind of help were you thinking I could provide? Frietjes I think is familiar enough with the sports projects use of colors to come up with a solution, and it goes without saying DL as well.—Bagumba (talk) 04:19, 11 February 2016 (UTC)
@Bagumba: Sorry... just help in general. If others' ideas are needed, etc. 🇺🇸 Corkythehornetfan 🇺🇸 05:22, 11 February 2016 (UTC)
Sure. Heads up that I'm going to have limited access for a while starting next week.—Bagumba (talk) 06:51, 11 February 2016 (UTC)

Super Bowl Box Score

Whats wrong with the way I entered in the box score last night? It's consistent with every other box score of all the teams I've seen this season, in addition to being the same format as all the box scores on the playoffs page. And what wrong with the way I reformatted the starting lineups? Jdavi333 (talk) 17:16, 8 February 2016 (UTC)

It's inconsistent with the box scores in the other previous Super Bowl articles, that's what's wrong with it. Charlesaaronthompson (talk) 17:38, 8 February 2016 (UTC)

Oklahoma Sooners

I disagree with this edit. The reference is clearly outdated (hence the old Big 12 logo). The schools colors are not Crimson and White, but rather Crimson and Cream. 🇺🇸 Corkythehornetfan 🇺🇸 03:26, 11 February 2016 (UTC)

OK, I won't contest that, in order to build consensus, and in order to avoid being blocked as a consequence of edit-warring. All I've just done at the College color module is incorporate the reference from the Oklahoma athletic department you provided in this section, as well as the reference from the University of Oklahoma. Charlesaaronthompson (talk) 06:03, 11 February 2016 (UTC)

February 2016

Hello, I'm Stesmo. I wanted to let you know that I removed one or more external links you added to the main body of Super Bowl 50. Generally, any relevant external links should be listed in an "External links" section at the end of the article and meet the external links guidelines. Links within the body of an article should be internal Wikilinks. If you think I made a mistake, or if you have any questions, you can leave me a message on my talk page. Thank you. Stesmo (talk) 03:46, 16 February 2016 (UTC)

Hello, I'm Stesmo. I wanted to let you know that I removed one or more external links you added to the page Super Bowl 50, because they seemed to be inappropriate for an encyclopedia. If you think I made a mistake, or if you have any questions, you can leave me a message on my talk page, or take a look at our guidelines about links. Thank you. Stesmo (talk) 08:05, 16 February 2016 (UTC)

The external links were part of the box score section of the Super Bowl 50 article. Please look at the box score section of the Super Bowl XLIX article for a comparison of what I was trying to accomplish. Also, my edits are not spam. Charlesaaronthompson (talk) 21:40, 16 February 2016 (UTC)

Edit warring advice

You don't get an exemption to revert back to status quo just because a discussion was started. Other editors might do it because they are being bold (though it usually doesn't help the conflict), but you are clearly reverting to your previous edits. Per WP:3RR, "any edit warring may lead to sanctions", not just violating the three-revert rule. Consider this your last warning from me, as you've had a sustained history of mini edit wars. Please follow WP:BRD. Thanks.—Bagumba (talk) 19:26, 16 February 2016 (UTC)

I'm not trying to engage in an edit-war with Stesmo (talk). I was just trying to explain that my edits were not spam. If you look at the comparison in the box score section of the Super Bowl XLIX and Super Bowl 50 articles, you'll see what I was attempting to accomplish with my edits. If my edit at Super Bowl 50 is again reverted, I promise to not revert it, and instead engage Stesmo at the article's talk page, using the bold, revert, and discuss cycle in hoping to accomplish consensus. I guess I need to be mindful of how many times I revert a particular article, in order to not violate the three-revert rule. Charlesaaronthompson (talk) 21:39, 16 February 2016 (UTC)
I don't think I'm making this clear enough for you. Per WP:EW: "... it is perfectly possible to edit war without breaking the three-revert rule, or even coming close to doing so." Just to be clear, my warning was not limited to the Super Bowl 50 article either. See WP:AVOIDEDITWAR for future guidance. Thanks for your understanding.—Bagumba (talk) 21:54, 16 February 2016 (UTC)
OK, I'll read up on WP:AVOIDEDITWAR to gain more understanding. In the meantime, I'll do my best to avoid edit-warring with other editors, and to avoid violating the three-revert rule. Charlesaaronthompson (talk) 22:11, 17 February 2016 (UTC)

Nebraska Cornhuskers colors

I'm confused as to where you got the hex code #CF102D, since that code isn't listed anywhere on the website. This PMS 186C is still the same as this PMS 186C. Another problem is that you've removed the "cream" as a color... Just because it isn't used in branding, doesn't mean it is not the school's colors... Multiple media guides, this website etc., will state that the school's colors are Scarlet and Cream... 🍀 Corkythehornetfan 🍀 23:51, 19 March 2016 (UTC)

@Corkythehornetfan: I derived the hex code #CF102D using the color picker tool from Adobe Photoshop. Feel free to go ahead and change it back; I promise not to contest it (also, I won't contest it if you want to change the colors at Module:College color/data). My only request is to leave the reference from Huskers.com in the infobox. If you want to change the HTML hex codes back to where they were, then I'm OK with that. Template:Indianapolis Colts

Please recall that your fall 2015 solution to the NFL team navbox alignment of the intial decade of seasons doesn't work. I created a discussion, notified you of this discussion on your Talk page and you participated in that discussion. As stated in that discussion, I then had to revert your formating at that time, as it introduced bullets unpaired with content to achieve horizontal spacing and (near) alignment. Within that round of cleanup work to your edits, I missed the Colts at that time. I've now resolved the Colts template layout as well, again. UW Dawgs (talk) 05:04, 22 March 2016 (UTC)

Syracuse

Orange is their only color, with blue as as a secondary. Source1, Source 2, Source 3. Do I need list more? We don't need the secondary colors in Infoboxes, just the primary. 🍀 Corkythehornetfan 🍀 16:14, 24 March 2016 (UTC)

I disagree. Navy blue is not a secondary color. Look at the Athletics Style Guide (used as the reference for Syracuse at Module:College color/data). It states that the color palette is Syracuse Orange and Syracuse Athletics Navy. The navy blue color should be listed in the infobox of the main athletics article (Syracuse Orange). Here is the reference for the Syracuse Orange's athletic branding. Also, the main colors for all NCAA Division I athletic teams should be listed in the infobox. Charlesaaronthompson (talk) 16:24, 24 March 2016 (UTC)
That's their brand guide... It's how they brand. Just because it's listed in their brand, doesn't mean that's their actual school colors. I've provided 3 reliable sources where they only list orange as their school color. If they wanted blue as their school color, they would be listing that in their media guides, but they don't. When I've been adding the names, I've looked VERY closely at their actual school colors, not just their brand guide. The school is just like Kansas State, who only has Royal purple for their color, but uses silver as their secondary color. The main, and only, color for Syracuse is orange, the only color that should be listed. 🍀 Corkythehornetfan 🍀 16:46, 24 March 2016 (UTC)
Again, I disagree. Orange may be the only color the university uses, but this webpage says that Athletics Navy is an approved color for the Syracuse Orange. Specifically, it states "Syracuse Athletics Navy should only be used for Athletics or University sub-brands and campaigns if necessary in addition to Syracuse Orange." Therefore, Navy should be included at Module:College color/data. Charlesaaronthompson (talk) 17:02, 24 March 2016 (UTC)
So, for every team that has three, four, five colors we need to include every god damn color a school lists? That's what you're saying and I disagree. You're misrepresenting the university by adding a color that is specifically for BRANDing only. That is not the schools color, just used for branding... which brand is even said in your quote. The NCAA even lists orange as the ONLY color. It's no damn wonder why I was thinking about leaving Wikipedia a few months ago. People screw things up all of the time and don't actually look to verify the facts. I'm done here. 🍀 Corkythehornetfan 🍀 20:20, 24 March 2016 (UTC)
@Corkythehornetfan: The only reason why this is an issue with me here is because the HTML hex color value for Navy blue was already listed for Syracuse at Module:College color/data, per the athletics style guide reference I've provided in this section. My only issue is that each school should have more than one primary color listed in the infobox (yes, that's what I'm saying: all primary colors should be listed in the infobox of each college athletic program's specific articles). I'm sorry that you feel like I'm frustrating you here; that was certainly not my intention. I'm trying to abide by Wikipedia policy by not continually reverting edits or engaging in edit-wars with other editors; this is why I'm engaging in a discussion on my talk page, in order to try to reach consensus as to how to proceed. Charlesaaronthompson (talk) 00:18, 25 March 2016 (UTC)
It was in the Module for border purposes. That's the only reason. There really isn't a reason to remove it from the navboxes, just the infoboxes. The "blue" is not a primary color, only for branding. We need to refer to the school colors they list on their website and media guides, not just the branding website. I'm pretty sure you wouldn't want to include the "bright orange" used on Idaho State's logos or the gray used for the university would you? Because that's what I take from this. The bright orange and the gray are not part of the university's colors, just the black and (darker) orange. The gray and bright orange may not be located on the brand guide right now, but they use it so it would most likely be on their next palette. If you add blue to Syracuse, then you are adding the gray and bright orange to Idaho State. I strongly discourage that, though. It's only there for border purposes for the navboxes. 🍀 Corkythehornetfan 🍀 00:54, 25 March 2016 (UTC)

Current NFL Head Coach Career Super Bowl History

Thanks for your edit of Active NFL head coach career Super Bowl history. I'm curious your reasoning behind switching all the links to the pages of the teams head coach history versus the team page.Zdawg1029 (talk) 22:43, 2 April 2016 (UTC)

The main article you referenced is about the each of the 32 current National Football League (NFL) team coaches and their individual histories coaching in the Super Bowl, if applicable (not every current coach has coached in the Super Bowl). That's the reason why I switched the links to the pages of the teams' head coaching histories. Charlesaaronthompson (talk) 03:23, 3 April 2016 (UTC)

If an SVG version of a logo already exists, there is no reason to upload a PNG version of the same thing, such as with File:University at Buffalo Bulls athletic mark.png. The SVG was already being used at Buffalo Bulls and other Buffalo athletic pages since it is not copyrighted. SVG is a better file as it displays clearer on all screen sizes where PNG has limits, on top of the white background present in the file you uploaded. I think you were trying for a smaller version, which is attainable on the SVG version by using the "logo_width" parameter in the infobox, which I have done (currently at 150px). --JonRidinger (talk) 23:53, 12 April 2016 (UTC)

NBA Championship navboxes

Hi,

What's the reasoning behind this action? I didn't see any consensus for them to be re-added as all that info can be found in teams' navboxes or infoboxes. – Sabbatino (talk) 19:49, 5 May 2016 (UTC)

@Sabbatino: The reasoning behind restoring the championship navigation boxes for each NBA team is because the templates for each NBA Finals has the team name embedded within the template (for example, the template San Antonio Spurs 2013–14 NBA champions has the San Antonio Spurs article wikilink in the title, and also a wikilink to the 2014 NBA Finals in the title). Also, I restored the templates because it allows for readers of a specific NBA team article to instantly navigate to another related article about the NBA Finals a team played in and won. I did it for consistency reasons. Charlesaaronthompson (talk) 20:00, 5 May 2016 (UTC)
Here's the reason why it got removed. And here's the discussion regarding this issue. Please discuss at the project before re-adding it. – Sabbatino (talk) 20:03, 5 May 2016 (UTC)

Piping

You do not need to pipe city names to the "city, state" version if the given city article isn't titled as such. Piping should be used sparingly and when appropriate. That's usually to make a title shorter or for instances like Cleveland Browns relocation controversy where the title doesn't always fit its intended use as a link. But whenever possible, just use the title of the article. City names like Cleveland and Baltimore don't need the adjoining state names, any more than London needs "England" or Paris needs "France" since they are primary topics of the word. In other words, saying something is "in Cleveland" most likely refers to the city in Ohio. Same for Baltimore meaning the city in Maryland. That's also true for Cleveland Stadium. "Cleveland Municipal Stadium" is a common name, but the name of the stadium was always "Cleveland Stadium" (and that name was also commonly used), which is why the article is titled as such. Locally, it was simply "Municipal Stadium". So yeah, use the article title unless absolutely necessary to use piping, like when the title has parenthesis or another form of disambiguation in it.

And, with abbreviations, only use abbreviations in parenthesis if the abbreviation is very well-known and/or is used later in the article. NFL and NBA are fairly well known; MLS and MLB not as much, so if they aren't later used in the article, I'd recommend not using them. --JonRidinger (talk) 01:37, 4 June 2016 (UTC)

Non-free image use in rivalry articles

Hi Charlesaronthompson. Just wanted to let you know that File:MiamiMarlinscap.PNG and File:MilwaukeeBrewers caplogo.svg are non-free files which means that each use of them is required to satisfy all 10 of the non-free content criteria listed at WP:NFCCP. One of these criteria is WP:NFCC#10c which says that a separate, specific non-free use rationale needs to be provided for each use. These files do not have such a rationale for their use in Citrus Series and Brewers–Cubs rivalry respectively, so their use in those article does not comply with WP:NFCC. A superficial fix would simply be to add a non-free use rationale, but I don't think a valid rationale can be written for these articles based upon WP:NFCC#8 and WP:NFCC#3. Normally, non-free logos such as these are considered OK for primary articles about the teams themselves, but not for secondary articles such as individual season articles, individual player/coach articles, rivalry articles, etc. because such usage tends to be more decorative than contextual (i.e., including sourced discussion about the logo itself). Of course, there are always some exceptions to the rule, so if you feel that non-free use is justified, then please provide a suitable rationale for each use which explains why. It might be a good idea, however, to get some feedback from others first via WP:FFD or WP:MCQ to be on the safe side. For reference, File:Chicago Cubs Cap Insignia.svg and File:ALE-TB-Insignia.png are freely licensed images available on Wikimedia Commons, but as it says at Template:Infobox sports rivalry#Usage: ". -- Marchjuly (talk) 00:41, 6 July 2016 (UTC)

Marchjuly OK, so how do I go about getting feedback from other editors via WP:FFD or WP:MCQ? What must I do to try to get File:MiamiMarlinscap.PNG and File:MilwaukeeBrewers caplogo.svg listed at their respective articles? Charlesaaronthompson (talk) 05:18, 6 July 2016 (UTC)
You can ask a question at WP:MCQ simply by following the instructions listed under "How to ask a question" located above the page's table of contents. You can also ask for feedback by starting a discussion at WT:NFCC: That works just like a regular talk page so all you need to do is click on "New section" at the top and ask your question. Please note that WT:NFCC is set up to redirect to Wikipedia talk:Non-free content, but that is where questions about Wikipedia:Non-free content criteria are asked. WP:FFD is a bit more formal since it is the main noticeboard for discussing file related matters, including non-free file usage, on Wikipedia. You can list a file for discussion by following the instructions at the top of the FFD main page. These discussions tend to be a bit formal and focus on how relevant policies/guidelines do or do not apply. They are typically closed by an administrator in accordance with WP:FFDAI. Just for reference, Wikipedia's non-free content policy is intentionally designed to be strict in order to limit the use of non-free content. Each usage is required to satisfy all 10 of the non-free content criteria listed in WP:NFCCP and this can sometimes be pretty hard to do. If you want to use a non-free logo like these in a rivalry article, you're going to need to clearly show how all 10 criteria are satisfied. So, it might be a good idea for you to take a close look at WP:NFC and also possibly Wikipedia:Arguments to avoid in image deletion discussions before rushing into FFD. As I posted above, non-free logos like these are typically not considered NFCC-compliant for secondary articles such as those about individual seasons, rivalries, players, etc., but perhaps you will be able to make a strong enough case to convince others otherwise.
Finally, another option might be to try and find something already on Commons which is freely licensed or upload something yourself which can be freely licensed to serve essentially the same encyclopedic purpose as the non-free logo. Many sports teams have wordmarks which are just simple text logos considered to be too simple to be eligible for copyright protection and thus are treated as public domain. Some examples of these can be found in c:Category:Major League Baseball logos. If you don't find one you can use already on Commons, then maybe there's one online somewhere which you can upload to Commons. I found this, and this after a Google search. They seem to be OK enough for Commons. If you're not sure how to do the uploading, then you can ask someone at MCQ or at c:COM:VP/C for help. -- Marchjuly (talk) 07:15, 6 July 2016 (UTC)

I would point you to an item on your talk page from a month ago, just prior to your being blocked, which commented: Charles: Please do not leave hidden text telling people not to change your preferred version, like you did here at Template:Cleveland Cavaliers. You are not allowed to act as if you own an article. Please refer to Help:Hidden_text#Inappropriate_uses_for_hidden_text for guidance..

Perhaps that needs re-visiting? At a minimum, if you have a request that something not be modified, you need to explain WHY it should not be modified, rather than simply assuming you can order the rest of Wikipedia to obey thy commands. Tarl N. (discuss) 19:41, 15 July 2016 (UTC)

Hi. Thank you for your recent edits. Wikipedia appreciates your help. We noticed though that when you edited Bawitdaba, you added a link pointing to the disambiguation page Whiskey Tango Foxtrot. Such links are almost always unintended, since a disambiguation page is merely a list of "Did you mean..." article titles. Read the FAQ • Join us at the DPL WikiProject.

Wisconsin

I completely disagree with this edit. I updated it to this website source which comes directly from the Athletics website. It is darker, and relates more closely to their brand guides, logos, etc. Your current version shows a pinkish color from an outdated source. Corkythehornetfan (ping me) 21:58, 4 September 2016 (UTC)

If I'm reading it closely enough, the source you provided was for the website. The source I provided is only from 2011. It isn't that outdated. Perhaps you want to e-mail the Wisconsin Badgers' athletic department and ask what the HTML or HEX color codes are, just to be sure? Charlesaaronthompson (talk) 23:14, 4 September 2016 (UTC)
I think it's pretty evident that their colors are not pink... like the current version from the 2011 source. This color relates more to the the academic side... Cardinal. Corkythehornetfan (ping me) 23:45, 4 September 2016 (UTC)

College module

Please don't re-order the colors, especially when white is the font color (second in module). All you needed to do – if your edit was correct – was remove "name2=White" from the list. According to the mbb 2015–16 media guide (see this link), "Navy (blue)", "Red", and "White" are the school colors. Order doesn't matter here, but white is a school color. Instant-runoff voting

I see that you're a Bernie supporter, which indicates to me that you would support fair voting reform. The Wikipage: Instant-runoff voting.

For the group fighting for it, check out: http://www.FairVote.org.

To see why it's necessary, check out: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wqblOq8BmgM.

It's supported by the Green Party: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eb7MQ7da6sg.

Idaho Vandals

These are not compliant per WP:CONTRAST... See here. "Sort of" doesn't exactly mean it is compliant. This is not compliant, either. Your goal background and silver border is a horrible combination that does not work at all. It is best to have it like it was... or, I would, support a silver background, black font with the gold border so we can stay completely compliant. It does say "sort of", but the difference with this one is that all the boxes below say "YES", which means it has a higher contrast than what the current version is. Thoughts? Corkythehornetfan (ping me) 19:03, 4 November 2016 (UTC)

@Corkythehornetfan: My reasoning in changing the colors at Module:College color/data was to get a color combination that accurately represented what the University of Idaho's colors were. I like your idea of silver background, black font with a gold border. I think if you wanted to change the colors for Idaho at the module to reflect that (silver background, black font, gold border), I would support that. I guess I didn't think it through enough when I changed them earlier today. I will support (not interfere) and let you change them to whatever is WP:CONTRAST-compliant at the module. Braves Colors

Noticed your color edits for the Atlanta Braves. Is gold really listed as one of the Braves primary colors in the style guide. I can't find it listed as anything other than a supporting color. Nemov (talk) 22:00, 16 November 2016 (UTC)

@Nemov: Yes, it is. However, since my edits appear to be bold and not supported by consensus from other editors, I'll promise to not revert the article to include the  gold  color. The consensus right now is to only include the  navy  and  scarlet  colors in the infobox. Charlesaaronthompson (talk) 01:13, 17 November 2016 (UTC)

LA Clippers

I had to revert your changes from the Clippers article because the article specifically states that, despite what the team and the NBA terms it, the consensus on Wikipedia is that the article and the team should be known as "Los Angeles", not LA. Dknights411 (talk) 04:12, 30 November 2016 (UTC)

All edits have been reverted. – Sabbatino (talk) 10:18, 30 November 2016 (UTC)
@Sabbatino: Thank you. I should have tried to gain a consensus before changing everything related to the Los Angeles Clippers. I don't know why NBA.com refers to the team by its abbreviated geographic name and not its full geographic name. Charlesaaronthompson (talk) 19:24, 30 November 2016 (UTC)

Please do not remove content or templates from pages on Wikipedia, as you did to Los Angeles Clippers, without giving a valid reason for the removal in the edit summary. Your content removal does not appear constructive and has been reverted. If you only meant to make a test edit, please use the sandbox for that. Thank you. – Sabbatino (talk) 08:37, 2 December 2016 (UTC)

@Sabbatino: So what constitutes a valid reason for removal in the edit summary? The uniforms listed in the infobox of the Los Angeles Clippers article aren't the club's uniforms (see the logos and uniforms section of the article in question.) Penn State

Re: This edit – I extracted the logo from the PDF to vectorize it. About 99% of the time, the colors the school uses is in the PDF. This is because the file is already in the PDF as a vectorized (SVG) image. Also, according to their Game Notes (and other sports), the colors are the same (#091F40), but also are listed as 'Blue and 'White', not 'Navy Blue and White'.  #002D62  is too light, and doesn't match the game notes and art sheet –  #091F40 . The art sheet was updated just two months ago, which probably means they haven't updated the website yet. Even this code isn't close to the #002D62. I feel as though you and a few others think I make the code up as I go along, which obviously I don't... Corkythehornetfan (ping me) 21:05, 4 December 2016 (UTC)
