This is a good draft. You've found some good sources. Suggestions:

• There is an excess of citations (every sentence); we'll discuss strategies for consolidating citations in class.
• For the lead: The siege of Kilkenny occurred in 1650 as part of Cromwellian conquest of Ireland. [then a sentence on significance, ...as a result...]
• Some copy editing to catch minor errors
