National parishes

Could you explain me reason for this category.

You added the sentence "National parishes are Catholic parishes that serve particular minority ethnic communities. They should not be confused with national churches or state churches.", but you also added article about the churches. The category is for national parishes, not national churches as I stated. Category:National churches stands alone and unrelated, and I have not added any of its contents to Category:National parishes. I am assembling an article on the 19th century debate over Americanization, which piqued my interest in the subject; I noticed there was no category for ethnic parishes, even though WP has dozens of articles about them. so I created it. To my knowledge, the concept of the national parish is a feature of western Catholicism, but if necessary we can always have the category renamed.- choster (talk) 12:37, 30 January 2011 (UTC)

What I suggest:

1. Rename it to Ethnic, because "national" is also used for name of the "Polish National Church" as the one of the denomination of the Catholic Church.
2. Divide it (only for parishes) on: Ethnic (not national) parishes abroad -> Ethnicity_name ethnic parishes -> ... in (country) -> Roman Catholic parishes/Orthodox parishes/... other denominations in (country). Then sorted by location.--WlaKom (talk) 13:52, 30 January 2011 (UTC)

Category:Fraternity and sorority templates

Since the template was moved, I decided to add templates to the category. There are currently 75 templates in the category (and two sub-categories). That's even more than I thought would be there when I argued for the Presidents to be left as a subcategory. Thanks for commenting on the category name change proposal. I hope you understand that it just seems illogical to have a category called "Robot characters in video games" and then exclude robot characters who appeared in video games from being listed. I just changed the proposal to simply change it to "Category:Video game robots", which I think would solve the problem, since the emphasis would become "video game" characters who are "robots"...Mathewignash (talk) 11:57, 19 April 2013 (UTC)

Trak Auto

I like what you did for expanding on Trak Auto. I think you should nominate it for WP:DYK and get it listed on the Main Page. Sometime ago, I was planned to expand the page myself but never got around to it. I did located a bunch of references, of which you have included ~80% of them. I have just added a few of those to the Trak Auto page. I did find a few a refs for topics you had not mentioned, but I need to figure how to integrate this information, like the closing of the stores in Chicago and the conversion of some of those stores to Murray's Discount Auto Parts. Also I have a few refs about the sale of its stock.

There are two points in the article that requires clarification. 1) What is Forest City Auto Parts? None of the current references mentions Forest City and Forest City Auto Parts is not mentioned to the wiki article on Forest City Enterprises. 2) Who paid whom when Thrifty sold its 50% share in Trak Auto to Dart? According to the Los Angeles Times article that was cited, both partners contributed $11.7 million. I assumed that had happened when they initially formed the company. My interpretation of the article is that Thrifty just gave their half to Dart in exchange for Dart to assume the $40 million debt while Dart gave Thrifty lots of money for their share of Crown, which was making a profit at that time, unlike Trak. I will try to dig up some article from L.A. Times that were written when Trak West was formed.

Thanks; I may well have misinterpreted some items from the sources, and I encourage you to edit them as you see fit. Forest City Auto Parts, which should not be confused with Forest City Auto Centers, was a Cleveland-based auto parts chain that had a succession of owners in the 1990s and ultimately went bankrupt in 2001. It was one of various "Forest City" businesses owned by the Ratner family, though it was the hardware store and of course the real estate and construction companies where they made their name. I will try to re-edit the text to better fit the refs. If you have access to Cleveland-based newspapers, it might be nice to include Forest City Auto Parts. Unfortunately, there is no mention of the Forest City in the big city newspapers of New York, Chicago, Los Angeles, or Washington D.C. Harvard Graphics

Hi Choster, just a comment on your reversion of "MS-DOS" to "DOS" on the Harvard Graphics page. MS-DOS is the root of the operating system family. IBM PC DOS was just a rebranded version (until 1993). DR-DOS and some others were created to be compatible with MS-DOS. So "MS-DOS" covers it pretty well.

The term "DOS" isn't correct, because there are dozens of systems with "DOS" in the name that have nothing to do with PC compatibles: List of DOS operating systems § Other operating systems. Dgpop (talk) 21:20, 30 March 2017 (UTC)

Hi, i just came across your having improved an article about a National Register of Historic Places-listed church in South Dakota, then I see you have been expanding other articles like St. Mark's Episcopal Church (Hope, Arkansas).
