Conflict of interest

edit

  Hello, Chris.cornerstone. We welcome your contributions, but if you have an external relationship with the people, places or things you have written about on Wikipedia, you may have a conflict of interest (COI). Editors with a conflict of interest may be unduly influenced by their connection to the topic. See the conflict of interest guideline and FAQ for organizations for more information. We ask that you:

  • avoid editing or creating articles about yourself, your family, friends, colleagues, company, organization or competitors;
  • propose changes on the talk pages of affected articles (you can use the {{request edit}} template);
  • disclose your conflict of interest when discussing affected articles (see Wikipedia:Conflict of interest#How to disclose a COI);
  • avoid linking to your organization's website in other articles (see WP:Spam);
  • do your best to comply with Wikipedia's content policies.

In addition, you are required by the Wikimedia Foundation's terms of use to disclose your employer, client, and affiliation with respect to any contribution which forms all or part of work for which you receive, or expect to receive, compensation. See Wikipedia:Paid-contribution disclosure.

Also, editing for the purpose of advertising, publicising, or promoting anyone or anything is not permitted. Thank you.  Velella  Velella Talk   15:58, 15 November 2019 (UTC)

I am a freelance writer. My clients have included the subject of this article - Cornerstone International Group -- for the past six years. I am listed as Marketing Director on their website at www.cornerstone-group.com. I work from my home outside Montreal and have no physical connection with the company other than attending a global conference once a year. I am not being reimbursed specifically for this article but as part of an annual contract for communications services. I am aware of the rules and guidelines governing paid contributors to Wikipedia. As a former journalist with over three decades of experience as a newspaper columnist and a freelance communications consultant, I am confident in my ability to present an unbiased and factual profile of Cornerstone International Group. Your recent article submission has been rejected. If you have further questions, you can ask at the Articles for creation help desk or use Wikipedia's real-time chat help. The reason left by Sulfurboy was: This topic is not sufficiently notable for inclusion in Wikipedia. The comment the reviewer left was: Multiple submissions without genuine attempts to improve the article. subject doesn't look notable and article would have to be wholly rewritten.

PR as a toxic experience

edit

One of my colleagues once wrote, "Experience has unfortunately shown that most (but not all) people with experience in PR cannot be taught to write a proper article, because they are so completely oriented to writing advertisements or quasi-advertisements that they honestly cannot see the difference between that and a proper encyclopedia article." I look at your drafts, and they include such tell-tales as the notorious shibboleth "solutions". That word is considered a redlight for promotional language, unless you are talking solutes in solvents, or answers to mathematical equations. People sell software, or advice, or hardware, or services; they cannot be impartially declared to sell "solutions". It is possible that you have been away from the newsroom too long, and your honest reportorial instincts have been depraved by the necessity of engaging in "public relations." (The original "public relations", of course, were carried on with the temple prostitutes of the ancient Middle East.) --Orange Mike | Talk 20:55, 24 February 2020 (UTC)Reply
