- Hi, IZAK! Thanks so much for the welcome message. I'm really enjoying getting involved with Wikipedia. I've been a fan for a long time, and it's fun to have actually started contributing. Onward and upward! -- ChrisCerf 17:05, 23 March 2006 (UTC)
Welcome to Wikipedia
editWelcome! By chance, are you the Chris Cerf, or are you just a fan? -- Zanimum 16:31, 23 March 2006 (UTC)
- Hi, Zanimum! It's an honor to be contacted by such a "famed" Wikipedian! And, yes, I guess I am "the" Chris Cerf, assuming you mean the Sesame Street/National Lampoon/Between the Lions guy. I'm thrilled to be part of Wikipedia. -- ChrisCerf 17:05, 23 March 2006 (UTC)
Wow, it's fantastic to have you as a member! I've added you to "Wikipedians with articles" (and frankly, you're own of the few names I recognise from that list, besides Roger Ebert.)
Though I might as well also point out muppet.wikicities.com , which is the new (since December) Wiki project for Muppets fans. In that short time, they've already got 7,672 articles. It's a great resource, worth checking out. Wikimedia's Wikinews is actually informally partnering with this Wikicity to do interviews with people involved with the Muppets. I've just contacted Leslie Carrara a few minutes before I posted this, and I was wondering if you'd ever consider being interviewed about your expansive career? It would be a wiki-based Q&A session, at your convenience.
Anyway, welcome to Wikipedia! -- Zanimum 17:24, 24 March 2006 (UTC)
- Amazing! "Wikipedians with articles" -- I didn't even know there was such a category! I'm proud to be part of it.
- And absolutely, I'd love to be interviewed. Let me know when you'd like to do it.... And thanks for your enthusiasm, and for making me feel so welcome. (By the way, I'm already familiar with the Muppet Wiki, and have greatly enjoyed browsing around it. I'm trying to be helpful over there, too.) -- ChrisCerf 23:03, 24 March 2006 (UTC)!
- The "Wikipedians with articles" is mainly just to make sure that they aren't bending the facts about themselves. Most people make themselves demi-gods when they join. You've been a perfect contributor since joining, and have done everything by the book, so it's mainly to promote the fact we have cool members.
- Great to hear you're willing to be interviewed, it likely won't be for a month or so, but I'll keep you informed.
- Anyway, if you need any help, just give me a shout. -- Zanimum 16:18, 25 March 2006 (UTC)

editI reverted the edit where someone changed your mother's DOB back to the one given by IMDb to your edit based on your privileged knowledge or your mother's preference. It would, however, help for authenticity if you could give the exact date, instead of just month and year. Thanks. Doc 23:02, 2 May 2006 (UTC)
- Hi, Doc!
- Many thanks for reverting my mom's birthdate to the actual, correct one -- and, indeed, for so generously posting an article about her in the first place! Our family is truly grateful!
- As you suggested, I'll add the exact date of her birth (4/13/1916) to the article, too, and will probably add a few more salient facts as time goes on....
- All best, -- ChrisCerf 16:08, 4 May 2006 (UTC)
- Thanks for your kind words and for any and all you may want to add to the article. Clearly you have the inside track. I was a good friend to the late Robert Denning, and partner in several ventures with him after Edgar de Evia's death. I had been a partner with Edgar for almost forty years. Bob had introduced Edgar to your mom regarding some children's books he was working on. I met your dad years ago when I appeared on "What's My Line?"
- I enjoy the entire concept of Wikipedia and have enjoyed adding information where I have an inside track and starting articles that are missing. After using Wikipedia as a reference for several years, my first new article was on Bob, after his obituary in the New York Times was picked up on in the years deaths here, and which I found on a Goggle, the next was on Edgar. ~~ Doc 22:04, 4 May 2006 (UTC)
Image copyright problem with Image:Between the Lions.Press-2.jpg
editThanks for uploading Image:Between the Lions.Press-2.jpg. However, the image may soon be deleted unless we can determine the copyright holder and copyright status. The Wikimedia Foundation is very careful about the images included in Wikipedia because of copyright law (see Wikipedia's Copyright policy).
The copyright holder is usually the creator, the creator's employer, or the last person who was transferred ownership rights. Copyright information on images is signified using copyright templates. The three basic license types on Wikipedia are open content, public domain, and fair use. Find the appropriate template in Wikipedia:Image copyright tags and place it on the image page like this: {{TemplateName}}
.
Please signify the copyright information on any other images you have uploaded or will upload. Remember that images without this important information can be deleted by an administrator. If you have any questions, feel free to contact me, or ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you.
Simply saying "I'm the President of Sirius Thinking, Ltd., and hereby authorize this usage" is not clear as to how you authorize it use, so please specify a license, such as GFDL, Creative Commons, public domain, and so on. Thank you.Jusjih 01:49, 16 July 2006 (UTC)
- Thank you for the information, Jusjih! I didn't fully understand the image submission licensing rules when I submitted my image, and am sorry I didn't handle things correctly. But luckily, a good samaritan entered the appropriate licensing information before I myself had a chance to rectify things! (Was this you? And is the image information sufficient now? If not, please let me know.) In any case, many thanks for your help and advice! -- ChrisCerf 03:18, 15 August 2006 (UTC)
Fair use rationale for Image:Between_the_Lions.Press-2.jpg
editThanks for uploading or contributing to Image:Between_the_Lions.Press-2.jpg. I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is no explanation or rationale as to why its use in Wikipedia articles constitutes fair use. In addition to the boilerplate fair use template, you must also write out on the image description page a specific explanation or rationale for why using this image in each article is consistent with fair use. Suggestions on how to do so can be found here.
Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to ensure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.
If you have uploaded other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on those pages too. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that any non-free media lacking such an explanation will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. MER-C 09:52, 23 July 2007 (UTC)
