Sock tags
editHi just wondered why you took out my edit about the sock tags, from the photo on your page you look too young to remember them but I thought they were worth mentioning if only for the sake of providing a complete and comprehensive over view? Yes they were very shortlived but worth one line?
Featured list advice
editHi mate, Cheers for your earlier review of the Fulham F.C. season 2008-09 page. I was wondering if you could scan over my page on Fulham F.C. seasons (the version in the my userspace). I am trying to follow a similar format to your excellent featured list on Margate F.C. seasons. I have so far written a lead section and added keys but need to transfers the tables in a different format from the current Fulham F.C. seasons page. I was also wondering if you knew any good sources to find out about complete histories - the existing page only gives details on the League Cup, League and FA Cup for Fulham and a simple google search brings up very little about the history. Cheers. 03md 15:05, 10 April 2009 (UTC)
- Thanks for your comments. My grandad (as a Fulham fan) has this book so I will try to borrow it. Cheers. 03md 21:51, 11 April 2009 (UTC)

editRelease the Stars - "Going to a Town" UK Singles Chart Position
editThank you so much for your assistance with verifying the peak chart position for "Going to a Town". That truly means a lot to me, and I appreciate your time and generosity. I went ahead and added the reference you provided to the Rufus Wainwright discography as well as the "Going to a Town" article. Thanks again! --Another Believer (Talk) 22:39, 17 April 2009 (UTC)
Philosophical conundrum
editBy virtue of being an unwanted edit, this was vandalism, and reverting it was rendering your userpage inaccurate. BUT by virtue of being correct, was it vandalism? Is it autovandalistic of you to revert it: should the count now show 28, reflecting your removal of the 28? OR might it be that because it was vandalism, it gave an accurate reading and thereby ceased to be vandalism, so it was erroneous? I think I have dissappeared in a knot of logic. editHi Chris, I am considering becoming an administrator, and as an admin whose work I respect (God, what a suck-up!) I was wondering if you'd be able to give me any help/advice/general hints? Thanks in advance, GiantSnowman 18:23, 21 April 2009 (UTC)

This year's crop
editDoes Morecambe's result last night mean that there will be a Gillingham FC Season 2008-09 article? Also, I didn't want to risk messing up your schedule for updating the stats, but Thurgood and Peters are still shown as current Gills players on the <50 appearances page (has Clohessy been released, or is he still on loan?). Wembley here we come? Kevin McE (talk) 08:17, 22 April 2009 (UTC)
I'd been working on Mr Roe already, as you'll see there's a bit more to him than your books (or my Blues books) mention. Please could you add to the opening sentence a reference to whichever Gillingham book gave his exact date of death, because I only had the year. Probably you could get a DYK out of it, it's long enough now. Something about him scoring South Shields' first ever league goal and then signing for the team he scored it against, perhaps. You're better at phrasing that sort of thing than I am... cheers, Struway2 (talk) 08:23, 23 April 2009 (UTC)
- Glad you started the article, it made me finish what I'd been writing. I'd got him as far as Arsenal and then left him there for weeks... cheers, Struway2 (talk) 09:09, 23 April 2009 (UTC)
- Well done with the image. Re the DYK, Blues definitely didn't sign him "later the same month"; it was roughly (says me without access to a newspaper archive) towards the end of October, hence the "a few weeks later" in the article. No idea why Shields hardly played him in the meantime. cheers, Struway2 (talk) 09:54, 23 April 2009 (UTC)

editBit busy at the mo, but will sort out an article when I get chance. In the meantime, the very basic info for you: Harold Fereday Wright, 12 October 1888 - 8 September 1950. Cheers. --Jameboy (talk) 21:02, 23 April 2009 (UTC)

For every category you create, you should specify parent categories to which it belongs. You can do this by listing the parents near the bottom of the page, each enclosed in double brackets like so:
[[Category:Wikipedia featured topics]] [[Category:Wikipedians by Wikipedia collaboration]]
I've added at least one parent to the category. I invite you to check my work for accuracy and completeness.

Harry Bruce
editWould your books confirm that the Harry Bruce who played for yours and mine is the same Harry Bruce who was the first non-Swedish manager of Halmstads BK? My book gives his last playing club as Reading/1931, but then says "retired 1939/40", which rather implies he did something else after, but doesn't deign to say what: that date would fit with {{Halmstads BK managers}}. The club article describes him as a former English pro player, and Joyce only lists one Harry Bruce. So on balance of original research, it's the same bloke, but reliable-published-source-type confirmation would be nice. cheers, Struway2 (talk) 11:03, 8 May 2009 (UTC)
- I'll have to leave it out then. Good these reliable sources: your book says he died in Durham but without knowing when, my book says he retired in 1939 but doesn't mention him working after 1931... Good luck in the second leg tomorrow... cheers, Struway2 (talk) 20:55, 9 May 2009 (UTC)

Football queries
editDo you know anywhere that I could find the missing nominations for Football League Championship Manager of the Month. I am hoping to take it to featured list but am struggling to find certain references and nominees. Also, what information would you recommend including on List of Football League Trophy winners - I saw you had been involved on similar lists. Finally, are the finals of the FL Trophy significant to have their own article in the same way as the FL Cup, FA Cup etc. Cheers. 03md 21:38, 11 May 2009 (UTC)
Cheers for your help. I've made the suggested changes.

is your Herbert Powell from the non-league days. And I bet you're glad you didn't have to do the infobox for him... Don't suppose you have any improvement on the date/place of birth? both Matthews and Joyce say 1880/Maidstone, which I don't believe for a minute: didn't play for anybody before his mid-20s, yet went on till he was 42??? The Chesterfield site has 1885 near Nottingham, which would fit rather better with his career progression. Think I might change him to use the Chesterfield info, but thought I'd see what your books say, if anything, first. cheers, Struway2 (talk) 18:31, 22 May 2009 (UTC)
- Thanks anyway. Hope it hasn't taken you till now to sober up from the playoff final... cheers, Struway2 (talk) 15:49, 27 May 2009 (UTC)

Lists of GFC players
editAs you might have seen, I've updated the lists of GFC players, both 0-50 and 50+ versions. 2 questions arise:
- Date of Gills career: to leaving the club, or to last match? i.e.,should Messrs Crofts, Clohessy and Thurgood have a closing date of 2008 or 2009?
- Order of listing where players have same number of appearances: alphabetical would seem the most obvious, but the status quo seemed to be inconsistency, with a slight inclination towards date of joining. What is proper? Kevin McE (talk) 11:21, 25 May 2009 (UTC)

Interestingly some of the information was confidential and should not have been released ahead of a meeting to actually confirm the new developments at the club. I will be happy to provide updates. List of number-one singles from the 1980s
editHi mate, I have started work on List of number-one singles from the 1980s (UK) to try and get it to FL status, after taking the 2000s list to FL earlier this year. Would you be able to look at the "By artist" table that I have cropped from the 2000s list. During the 1980s there were four charity single releases that artists need to be credited for but I am not quite sure who to credit. Banarama, for example, would technically have 3 number-ones but two of these are for the individual members on Band Aid / Ferry Aid. Can you help me out. Cheers. 92.2.15.166 (talk) 17:02, 25 June 2009 (UTC)
- Yeah, that's a good idea. If you look on the page for Ferry Aid, for example, it lists individual artists from bands but this shouldn't count towards the band's total or should it? How does the article look so far? I will add cites and more images later. Would you be able to have a go at writing a lead section (with references) and I will copy edit it. - I have no recollection of José the goalé: might have been a pre-season trialist or something. Scally suggested 2-3 years ago that he was trying to set up some scouting links in Spain, but this claim predates that by a long way. The artuicle seems to suggest that he was with us for a full season: I'm very confident that that was not the case: 2000-01 was the first First Division season, and we had Jason Brown and Vince Bartram as goalies that season.
