Help

Hi Chris G. I'm looking for where SciFi space launch and space propulsion concepts might be talked about/discussed amongst interested Wikipedia editors. I see that your bot is the only entry on the page Category talk:Fictional spacecraft. I work a good bit on the non-fiction side of spaceflight in Wikipedia, but know little about the SciFi side of things. Would you have any idea where I might go to find interested editors so I might ask them a question about an article that crosses over, both non-fiction and SciFi aspects? Cheers. Hmm, you might want to try Wikipedia:WikiProject Science Fiction --Chris 12:12, 14 February 2011 (UTC)

CHUS clerking

I notice that Chris G Bot 3 has the (at the moment disabled) functionality to also clerk the pages. When enabled does it/can it check for other languages accounts, the way that AnomieBOT does at WP:USURP? –xenotalk 14:36, 31 January 2011 (UTC)

No, but that functionality can be added if need be. I added it as a backup when SoxBot went awol hence it only does the same checks SoxBot does. --Chris 04:27, 1 February 2011 (UTC)
Would you mind working on it, since X! hasn't responded to my query? Doesn't make sense to have two bots operating on that page anyway. –xenotalk 19:27, 1 February 2011 (UTC)
I've been playing around with the bot a bit, and it should work. Just switch User:Chris G Bot 3/clerk to true once SoxBot is disabled (we don't want them to fight now do we ;) --Chris 11:22, 2 February 2011 (UTC)
Cool - I've done the needful. Just to confirm, will it also detect where global account doesn't exist but unattached accounts exist with edits? –xenotalk 18:13, 2 February 2011 (UTC)
Yes, except it ignores edit count. I can add that in if you like. --Chris 09:23, 3 February 2011 (UTC)

← Hm, doesn't seem to be working? –xenotalk 18:27, 2 February 2011 (UTC)

It is, it just doesn't put notes on the requests that don't have problems. I've never really seen the point in that. --Chris 09:23, 3 February 2011 (UTC)
It would save the bureaucrats having to check the sulutil themselves. Why didn't it detect problems with [1] ? –xenotalk 16:46, 3 February 2011 (UTC)
Or [2]; it should have warned that accounts exist in other projects. –xenotalk 17:20, 3 February 2011 (UTC)
Hm, I just remembered this is because of a known issue (deficiency in the API) [3]. –xenotalk 17:26, 3 February 2011 (UTC)
Thanks for the other-account detection mechanism. Is the source code published anywhere?
I would like to disable SoxBot as it is currently somewhat redundant, but I think some bureaucrats will miss the "No problems found" botnote - without it, we wonder if the bot has crashed and end up doing all the checks ourselves anyway. Could you add that functionality in, so SoxBot can be disabled? Thanks, –xenotalk 17:33, 10 February 2011 (UTC)
Sorry, been a tad busy IRL. Is this better? Also the source code is here --Chris 12:10, 14 February 2011 (UTC)
Much obliged. No worries about the delay. –xenotalk 14:30, 14 February 2011 (UTC)

RE: Orphaned image deletion bot - File:Riscos rool logo cog svgedit fitcanvastocontent.svg

RE: File:Riscos rool logo cog svgedit fitcanvastocontent.svg, the relevant article, RISC OS Open, is now finally in namespace. I'm in a position to upload the file again, but was warned to discuss it first, as I'm proposing to upload again using the same filename. As this situation is new to me, it would be helpful if I could be directed to a policy/procedure or similar. Thanks. --trevj (talk) 09:26, 28 February 2011 (UTC)

Feel free to reupload. Since it no longer meets the criteria for deletion (i.e. is no longer an orphan) you should be fine. --Chris 09:31, 28 February 2011 (UTC)
Thank you --trevj (talk) 11:19, 28 February 2011 (UTC)
