Speedy deletion nomination of Dilruba Sultan
editHello Chris Liak,
I wanted to let you know that I just tagged Dilruba Sultan for deletion, because the article doesn't clearly say why the subject is important enough to be included in an encyclopedia.
If you feel that the article shouldn't be deleted and want more time to work on it, you can contest this deletion, but please don't remove the speedy deletion tag from the top.
You can leave a note on my talk page if you have questions. Cotton2 (talk) 10:16, 3 September 2016 (UTC)

Speedy deletion nomination of Daughter from Halime Sultan
editIf this is the first article that you have created, you may want to read the guide to writing your first article.
You may want to consider using the Article Wizard to help you create articles.
Hello. A tag has been placed on Daughter from Halime Sultan requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section A7 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the article appears to be about a person or group of people, but it does not credibly indicate how or why the subject is important or significant: that is, why an article about that subject should be included in an encyclopedia. Under the criteria for speedy deletion, such articles may be deleted at any time. Please read more about what is generally accepted as notable.
If you think this page should not be deleted for this reason, you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Contest this speedy deletion". This will give you the opportunity to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. However, be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be removed without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag from the page yourself, but do not hesitate to add information in line with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. If the page is deleted, and you wish to retrieve the deleted material for future reference or improvement, then please contact the deleting administrator. Hello. A tag has been placed on Daughter from Halime Sultan, requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section G4 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the page appears to be a repost of material that was previously deleted following a deletion debate, such as at articles for deletion. Under the specified criteria, where a page has substantially identical content to that of a page deleted after debate, and any changes in the content do not address the reasons for which the material was previously deleted, it may be deleted at any time.
Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag from the page yourself, but do not hesitate to add information in line with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. editWhy on Earth is this happening?!!What's wrong with you people??I repeat I'm a newbie here so why won't you just let me finish the article???!!!!
- Hi. This article was already deleted ([1]) because there is nothing to write an article with. There is no direct information about her, the only thing we know is that Davud Pasha was the brother-in-law of Mustafa, so he must have married a (otherwise unknown) daughter of Mustafa's (unnamed) mother and Mehmed III, this is not sufficient to write an article. Everything else is either padding related to members of the family or invention taken from the drama. Cheers.--Phso2 (talk) 08:49, 4 September 2016 (UTC)
Perhaps you should read it again.Not much is known about her but the theories regarding her name exist and her date of birth and death as well as issue are confirmed as you can see in references.She did die in 1623,there is no invention here.Please pay more attention to what you are reading because someone might have done quite the digging in order to provide people with actual information and throwing his work in the trash out of pure foolishness does not honour you. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Chris Liak (talk • contribs) 09:08, 4 September 2016 (UTC)
- Read WP:RS. An archived version of a page from the personal website of an amateur (?) genealogist is not a reliable source.--Phso2 (talk) 10:46, 4 September 2016 (UTC)
Considering that the vast majority of the information it cites is correct and confirmed or at least heavily relied upon,judging from various other,more recent articles of wikipedia and other websites,I would give it a second thought before calling the genealogist an amateur.This archive is the closest thing to a reliable source we have on that particular historical figure,a fact which I believe I made clear in the article.Remember this is not the online version of some sort of club,it is a site visited daily by tens of millions of people from all over the world the vast majority of whom is simply curious about something or someone and wants to read a thing or two.I don't see why it is wrong to provide them with as much information as we can while at the same time maintaining a certain reserve and letting them judge for themselves,especially when the matter in question is history,which is often written by the hand of the winner,at first.This rather technocratic,if I may use the word,outlook you express does not apply in a site with such vast and diverge reading public,I am afraid. In any case though,I apologise for my rather rude manner before.If you still think I was wrong to post the article,I would be grateful if you explained to me why.As I've said before I am new here and there are so many dos and donts I get confused.Thanks in advance.
- I came here to copy the conversation from the article talk page, before deleting it, but I see you have done that already. Good. I will try to explain, first why the article was not acceptable, and then why it was so quickly deleted.
- Nobody is saying that you were wrong to post the article: everyone is encouraged to be WP:BOLD, and there is no way that a new user can know all the standards and rules, but we are trying to explain why it was not acceptable.
- Yes, this site is visited daily by millions of people; it is all the more important to ensure that the information we give them is correct. You say you "don't see why it is wrong to provide them with as much information as we can". The problem is to distinguish between information and rumour. An absolutely fundamental policy is Wikipedia:Verifiability, summarised as "all material must be attributable to reliable, published sources." The basic definition of a reliable source is, one which has some form of editorial control and fact-checking. It is not at all clear that the site you quoted qualifies, particularly as in its current version the section "Ottoman Empire" is not present, listed in white as "under construction". Even that site gives very little information: even her name is made up for the television series. I agree with Phso2 above that there is not enough information to sustain an article.
- As to why the articles were so swiftly deleted: new articles are created at a rate of something like one a minute, and a regrettably high proportion of them are useless, so criteria have been agreed (after much argument) which allow some of them to be speedily deleted. Even that takes two pairs of eyes, a patroller to tag the page and an administrator to agree and actually delete it. The speedy criteria your articles met were, first, WP:CSD#A7 no credible claim of significance or importance and for the longer vesrion WP:CSD#G4 repost of deleted material, because an article about this lady was deleted a month ago after a deletion discussion at WP:Articles for deletion/Dilruba Sultan.
- You can avoid the risk of speedy deletion of an incomplete article by clicking Help:Userspace draft and filling in the title, or by using WP:Articles for creation to guide you through the proces of making a draft.
- I am sorry that Wikipedia's keenness to encourage everyone to edit means that new users such as yourself often plunge straight in and are frustrated to come up against standards and rules which (in my view, not generally shared) they should have been introduced to during the sign-on process. I hope you will not be too discouraged, and will continue to contribute. Wikipedia:Your first article is a useful introduction. Here are some other pages that you might find helpful:
- Regards, JohnCD (talk) 22:12, 4 September 2016 (UTC)
Well you have been very helpful.You more or less put together a simple guide for me to follow and I thank you very much for that.And yes,I will continue to contribute;as for the particular Lady,as soon as I have dug up valid information,I will create a new page about her.
- Good. There is a useful attempt at the impossible task of a one-stop guide at Wikipedia:A primer for newcomers. One piece of local know-how: on talk pages (but not in articles) it helps to know who said what if you sign your contributions by ending them with a group of four "tilde" characters
~~~~
, which the system will convert to a "signature" of your username and the time and date, like this: JohnCD (talk) 21:41, 6 September 2016 (UTC)
Mehmet III
editI didn't "question your sources' validity", but can you provide a citation from them that tells that "Fülane was a haseki of Mehmed III"???--Phso2 (talk) 20:16, 25 January 2017 (UTC)
- No, you must provide extant citations of the sentences from these sources that say that "[some anonymous] was a haseki of Mehmed III". Just giving a title and a page number is not sufficient.--Phso2 (talk) 20:32, 25 January 2017 (UTC)
Per WP:INTDABLINK, please do not do this again. Cheers! bd2412 T 05:30, 5 March 2017 (UTC)
Yes, I have surely heard about Greece. There are so many scientific words that are derived from the Greek language. About me, I am 20 and also a Student of BS (Hons): Zoology. Yes, we should put the most important characters on the first place, cuz they are the protagonists. Many Words (talk) 03:24, 31 March 2017 (UTC)
Just saw your edits at Muhtesem Yuzyil: Kosem. You really worked hard and the edits are really good now. And it is very easy to understand the characters now. Thank you. Many Words (talk) 14:15, 2 April 2017 (UTC)
Need help and guidness
editHey Chris, how are you??Bro, I want to discuss something with you about an article on Wikipedia. The article is about Indian actress Vidya Balan. Since you're a senior editor and I have a kind of understanding with you, so I think that It would be good to seek help and guidness from you.
There is an article on Wikipedia about "List of Hindi film clans". This article also features the "Roy Kapur family" clan. Vidya Balan is married to Siddharth Roy Kapur, so that means that Roy Kapur family is also Vidya Balan's family and the members of the family are her in-laws. And everyone knows that In-laws are relatives. So I replaced this "|relatives = Priyamani (second cousin)" with this "|relatives = See Roy Kapur family" on her info-box section ("List of Hindi film clans#Roy Kapur family" also has name of Priyamani) but a user whose name is "Krimuk2.0" reverted my edits with these reasons "Her in-laws aren't her relatives, but her husband's" and "In-laws are what they are, not relatives. also, stop using personal attacks unless you wish to be blocked". Now you tell me what should I do. I know that I am right, In-laws are family members, but he reverted my edits twice with lame excuses. Now I need your help please guide me that what should I do now?? Leave a message on my talk-page. It would be so kind of you. Thank you. Many Words (talk) 16:41, 5 April 2017 (UTC)
Hey Chris, thank you so much for your support. I've decided to take the matter on Vidya Balan's talk page. So that people could notice it and make the changes. Thank you so much once again. Many Words (talk) 03:33, 6 April 2017 (UTC)
Ayşe & Kösem
editHi Chris. May I ask the reason behind this edit? Is Ayşe's mother unknown?? The answer to that question is obviously "no". Only in rare cases when a child's father or mother isn't known for sure his/her name is omitted, otherwise the names of both of his/her parents should be mentioned in the leading sentence especially when both of them are notable historical figures. editYour recent editing history at 2017 shows that you are currently engaged in an edit war. To resolve the content dispute, please do not revert or change the edits of others when you are reverted. Instead of reverting, please use the talk page to work toward making a version that represents consensus among editors. The best practice at this stage is to discuss, not edit-war. See BRD for how this is done. If discussions reach a dead end, you can post a request for help at a relevant noticeboard or seek dispute resolution. In some cases, you may wish to request temporary page protection.
Being involved in an edit war can result in your being blocked from editing—especially if you violate the three-revert rule, which states that an editor must not perform more than three reverts on a single page within a 24-hour period. Undoing another editor's work—whether in whole or in part, whether involving the same or different material each time—counts as a revert. Also keep in mind that while violating the three-revert rule often leads to a block, you can still be blocked for edit warring—even if you don't violate the three-revert rule—should your behavior indicate that you intend to continue reverting repeatedly. Exactly what criterion from WP:NMUSIC does Loukianos Kilaidonis meet? I can see an unsourced claim in the infobox for Arleta, that she published on a number of major labels, but I don't even see a claim of notability for Loukianos Kilaidonis. — Arthur Rubin (talk) 00:49, 4 December 2017 (UTC)
- Hello @Arthur Rubin:. I fail to understand why the fact that Kilaidonis's and Arleta's articles have been little developed is a solid proof against their notability to you. As for the criteria, if you have read them, then you know both of them meet many. Unless you have somehow been lead to believe they have to meet all of them, in which case you have made a mistake. It seems to me that it is the relative lack of international attention that has convinced you they are not notable, which however, is also the case for many edits you haven't opposed. Overall, I find you a tad too rigid in your opinion, considering you know little about them, but I think we have both had our fair share of squabbling. I am taking this issue to the respective article's talk page, within the next couple of days, and you are most welcome to join me. — Chris Liak (talk) 23:27, 6 December 2017 (UTC)
- I see no claimed match with any of the WP:NMUSIC criteria, except for the infobox record labels for Arleta. I will suggest deletion unless you have already improved the articles. — Arthur Rubin (talk) 20:45, 7 December 2017 (UTC)
- Kilaidonis is one of the most important, popular, and best selling songwriters and singers of Greek music, ever. Very easy to find out. ——Chalk19 (talk) 06:43, 8 December 2017 (UTC)
