This is an automated message from CorenSearchBot. I have performed a search with the contents of James patrick garvey, and it appears to be very similar to another Wikipedia page: James Garvey. It is possible that you have accidentally duplicated contents, or made an error while creating the page— you might want to look at the pages and see if that is the case. If you are intentionally trying to rename an article, please see Help:Moving a page for instructions on how to do this without copying and pasting. If you are trying to move or copy content from one article to a different one, please see Wikipedia:Copying within Wikipedia and be sure you have acknowledged the duplication of material in an edit summary to preserve attribution history.

It is possible that the bot is confused and found similarity where none actually exists. If that is the case, you can remove the tag from the article. CorenSearchBot (talk) 16:13, 30 January 2011 (UTC)Reply

Your contributed article, James patrick garvey

If this is the first article that you have created, you may want to read the guide to writing your first article.

You may want to consider using the Article Wizard to help you create articles.

Hello, I notice that you recently created a new page, James patrick garvey. First, thank you for your contribution; Wikipedia relies solely on the efforts of volunteers such as you. Unfortunately, the page you created covers a topic on which we already have a page - James Garvey. Because of the duplication, your article has been tagged for speedy deletion. Please note that this is not a comment on you personally and we hope you will to continue helping improve Wikipedia. If the topic of the article you created is one that interests you, then perhaps you would like to help out at James Garvey - you might like to discuss new information at the article's talk page.

If you think that the article you created should remain separate, you may contest the deletion by adding {{hang on}} to the top of the page that has been nominated for deletion (just below the existing speedy deletion, or "db", tag; if no such tag exists, then the page is no longer a speedy delete candidate and adding a hang-on tag is unnecessary), coupled with adding a note on the talk page explaining your position, but be aware that once tagged for speedy deletion, if the page meets the criterion, it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but don't hesitate to add information to the page that would render it more in conformance with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. If the page is deleted, you can contact one of these administrators to request that the administrator userfy the page or email a copy to you. Additionally if you would like to have someone review articles you create before they go live so they are not nominated for deletion shortly after you post them, allow me to suggest the article creation process and using our search feature to find related information we already have in the encyclopedia. Try not to be discouraged. Wikipedia looks forward to your future contributions. Borkificator (talk) 16:21, 30 January 2011 (UTC)Reply

Page moves

edit

Hi. You cannot do page renames by copying and pasting text from one article to a new one, as that loses the edit history of the article and so violates the terms of Wikipedia:Text of Creative Commons Attribution-ShareAlike 3.0 Unported License. If you want to rename/move an article, see Wikipedia:Requested moves for how to do it. -- Boing! said Zebedee (talk) 16:37, 30 January 2011 (UTC)Reply

James Garvey

edit

Please stop adding the line "For James Garvey the philosopher, click here" at the end - if you look at the head of the article, you will see I have done it the correct way using the appropriate template. -- Boing! said Zebedee (talk) 16:53, 30 January 2011 (UTC)Reply

OK - sorry - I've seen it now.Chriscook54321 (talk) 16:54, 30 January 2011 (UTC)Reply

I have deleted James patrick garvey. As explained above, you must not do cut-and-paste moves, because it loses the attribution history of all the contributors to the article; you have to use the "Move" tab, which brings the history with it. For how to sort out articles about people with the same name, see WP:Disambiguation. Regards, JohnCD (talk) 17:17, 30 January 2011 (UTC)Reply

Hi. When you recently edited Iain King, you added a link pointing to the disambiguation page Charity (check to confirm | fix with Dab solver). Such links are almost always unintended, since a disambiguation page is merely a list of "Did you mean..." article titles. Read the FAQ • Join us at the DPL WikiProject.

Thank you. Yes, going to the disambiguation pages was a mistake. Can you fix these for me, please? (I tried using the Dab Solver) and found it hard. Chriscook54321 (talk) 11:58, 29 June 2012 (UTC)Reply

Invitation to wikiFeed

edit

Hi Chriscook54321,

I'm part of a team that is researching ways to help Wikipedia editors find interesting content to contribute to Wikipedia. More specifically, we are investigating whether content from news sources can be used to enhance Wikipedia editing. We have created a tool, called wikiFeed, that allows you to specify Twitter and/or RSS feeds from news sources that are interesting to you. wikiFeed then helps you make connections between those feeds and Wikipedia articles. We believe that using this tool may be a lot of fun, and may help you come up with some ideas on how to contribute to Wikipedia in ways that interest you. Please participate! To do so, complete this survey and follow this link to our website. Once you're there, click the "create an account" link to get started.

For more information about wikiFeed, visit our project page. If you have any questions, please feel free to ask via my talk page, or by email at wikifeedcc@gmail.com. We appreciate your time and hope you enjoy playing with wikiFeed!

ArbCom elections are now open!

edit

Hi,
You appear to be eligible to vote in the current Arbitration Committee election. The Arbitration Committee is the panel of editors responsible for conducting the Wikipedia arbitration process. It has the authority to enact binding solutions for disputes between editors, primarily related to serious behavioural issues that the community has been unable to resolve. This includes the ability to impose site bans, topic bans, editing restrictions, and other measures needed to maintain our editing environment. The arbitration policy describes the Committee's roles and responsibilities in greater detail. If you wish to participate, you are welcome to review the candidates' statements and submit your choices on the voting page.
