Your edit to Ancient Rome
editYour recent edit to Ancient Rome was reverted by an automated bot that attempts to recognize and repair vandalism to Wikipedia articles. Yes, my mistake - I was reverting vandalism myself, but accidentally reverted to the wrong version. Oops... Chrisd87 17:56, 19 May 2006 (UTC)
Thanks for the reply! I'll see about summing that bit up.
Added: Going to just be re-arranging a couple bits. Though, I will re-add the "Exodus" bit as I feel it is a bit of a comedy relief, and true to it's statement.
Added: I have simply moved the "History" part of it up one section, so it is not a full wipe of the information. Please do not revert. UA 20:38, 22 May 2006 (UTC)
Chris, there has been some vandalism on the "Ancient Rome" entry. I really don't know how to revert back to an earlier entry, else I would take care of the reversion myself. It is under the "Government" section and reads "Initially, Rome was ruled by penguins with monkeys in cocktail skirts by it's side kings." --Joseph kominki 00:25, 2 June 2006 (UTC)
Never mind, I learned how one reverts to an earlier, unvandalised revision. The vandal's revision-history stamp reads: "23:25, 1 June 2006 68.171.135.225" --Joseph kominki 00:36, 2 June 2006 (UTC)
The Cottage School--copy-edit
editI took care of the layout problem, but I am unsure what to do know as I am not familier with the topic. (look at my comments on Talk:The Cottage School. Thanks, and drop me a message as to what else you think needs done:-)Eagle talk 01:27, 21 May 2006 (UTC)

You have recently reverted changes to the "Star Wars Galaxies" section. Please revert the sections that were changed and not deleted. I was merely correcting the information. I admit I was a bit hasty on the deleted parts, and that was wrong on my part. I am a bit of a novice on Wikipedia, so I apologise for not making a new page on your talk page.

You have been doing ALOT of countervandalism, (congrats) and I wanted to know if you would like me to put you on the approved user list for VandalProof. I atleast want to let you know that the tool is there. I also know that you don't quite have enough edits on wikipedia to qualify under the guidelines(in case you notice) but I feel that you have done a wonderfull on recentchanges patrol. You deserve all the assistance that we can give you to deal with vandalism. Drop me a note on my talk page if you want to be registered for VandalProof. (Or after you have 250 article space edits, apply on the registration page)Eagle talk 17:31, 21 May 2006 (UTC)
- I got your note... but I also found another bug in VandalProof. Will you give me approx. 30 minutes to figure out what the problem is. (VandalProof is still under development:-) Meanwhile, why don't you check out the required settings that you need to have set to run VP. thanks for your patianceEagle talk 17:48, 21 May 2006 (UTC)
- Gah!! I think I found the bug, and untill it is fixed I can't add you. (as you see the bug is related to adding new users.) Agian sorry.:-( Eagle talk 18:40, 21 May 2006 (UTC)

Why did I receive 6 warnings on my user page about vandalism?
editHello Chris, I recently received several warnings on articles which I didn't even visit including the Darwin Awards and Can't Sleep, Clown will eat me, and Call of Duty 3. I was also given warnings on editing the The Harker School which I visited since I attend that institution. However, I have no recollection of editing it. If I could be given some clarification on what I did, if any, I would extremely grateful. Thank you for your time.

Download new version of vandal proof.
editNote I will be gone all of next week, July 9 - 16. I can help you after of course :).
My suggestion is to look for the new version of vandal proof. WP:VPRF should have instructions on what to do. Sorry, for not being of too much help :) Eagle talk 22:17, 8 July 2006 (UTC)
- Ok, post your problem on the disscusion part of WP:VPRF! Also I can help you over the next 3 hours. (note please make a new section rather than edit an existing one. (unless it is on the bottem) I can find it easier :) Thanks!!! (then I don't lose your reply) Eagle talk 23:01, 8 July 2006 (UTC)

editHi Chris. Sorry about the tone. I was quite busy and entertained. I appreciate your contribution (re Cfd) and the way you dealt with. Cheers -- Szvest 20:31, 10 July 2006 (UTC) Wiki me up™
- Not at all - pardon my original AFD - got a little over-enthusiastic, having been dealing with deletion candidates that were considerably less worthwhile. Regards, Chrisd87 20:53, 10 July 2006 (UTC)
Illutia fun
editHi,
I had not looked at the article's history since it seemed to be new. Thus, I missed the removed AfD tag, sorry. Yours, Huon 08:28, 12 July 2006 (UTC)
Uncontested deletion
editI wondered if you were aware of WP:PROD for deletions that are uncontroversial but not a speedy deletion candidate?

You've been approved to use NPWatcher. Please give me any feature requests or bugs. I'm also happy to help if you have any problems running the program, or any questions :). Before you run the program, please check the changelog on the application page to see if I've made a new release (or just add the main page (here) to your watchlist). Finally, enjoy! Martinp23 14:53, 3 January 2007 (UTC)
- I don't think you have the use of NPWatcher down too well since you nominated Philip A. Beachy with a {{db-bio}} where the article clearly indicates the importance of the person. I suggest you remove the tag. --Walter Görlitz 22:35, 3 January 2007 (UTC)
- I know that the above comments wasn't meant for me, but I've removed the tags. For A7 (bio), any assertation of notability means that the article passes the criterion, and can't be deleted. Even if an article said "King Bob is the ruler of a castle made of chesse. He is famous for eating 500000 furbies in ten seconds", it would pass A7 (though fail G1 (nonsense) obviously). It sounds silly, but it's the rules (see also WP:CSD) Martinp23 22:42, 3 January 2007 (UTC)
- No problem - the rule can be ambiguous, and it's easy to get "battle-weary" and start friendly fire :). Don't worry about it Martinp23 22:53, 3 January 2007 (UTC)

User:Donnaleecootey
editI'm not sure what the next step is. Do we contact an administrator if he keeps posting it? Chances are he'll come back with a new name. I guess if another article about Dr. Dot appears, he should be banned. IanUK 12:36, 4 January 2007 (UTC)
Chris, don't worry about it. Given the user is now resorting to personal attacks and outright lying about the copyright violations it is clear that he is more interested in making trouble than being a positive contributor. I will block him if this behavior continues. Gwernol 12:38, 4 January 2007 (UTC)

I have changed the csd on Kye Wilson from {{db-empty}} to {{db-a7}} because it looks like he is writing about himself considering he is Kye Wilson. Superball53 t 19:45, 8 June 2007 (UTC)
Thanks for the input. Now keep an eye on that link to see if it changes from red to blue. :) Corvus cornix 21:24, 8 June 2007 (UTC)
How is it advertisement ? Cheers --Lord Anubis 23:08, 12 August 2007 (UTC)
speedy tagging
editAn article can not be speedied under A7 unless it fits the categories in WP:CSD -- real people yes, dogs no. I changed it to speedy for being nonsense to see if another admin agrees, but if not, it will have to go to prod or afd. DGG (talk) 17:35, 15 August 2007 (UTC)

League of Copyeditors roll call
editGreetings from the League of Copyeditors. Your name is listed on our members page, but we are unsure how many of the people listed there are still active contributors to the League's activities. If you are still interested in participating in the work of the League, please follow the instructions at the members page to add your name to the active members list. Once you have done that, you might want to familiarise yourself with the new requests system, which has replaced the old /proofreading subpage. As the old system is now deprecated, the main efforts of the League should be to clear the substantial backlog which still exists there. The League's services are in as high demand as ever, as evinced by the increasing backlog on our requests pages, both old and new. While FA and GA reviewers regularly praise the League's contributions to reviewed articles, we remain perennially understaffed. Fulfilling requests to polish the prose of Wikipedia's highest-profile articles is a way that editors can make a very noticeable difference to the appearance of the encyclopedia. On behalf of the League, if you do consider yourself to have left, I hope you will consider rejoining; if you consider yourself inactive, I hope you will consider returning to respond to just one request per week, or as many as you can manage. Merry Christmas and happy editing, The League of Copyeditors. |

An exciting opportunity to get involved!
editAs a member of the Aviation WikiProject or one of its subprojects, you may be interested in testing your skills in the Aviation Contest! I created this contest, not to pit editor against editor, but to promote article improvement and project participation and camraderie. Hopefully you will agree with its usefulness. Sign up here, read up on the rules here, and discuss the contest here. The first round of the contest may not start until September 1st-unless a large number of editors signup and are ready to compete immediately! Since this contest is just beginning, please give feedback here, or let me know what you think on my talkpage. - Trevor MacInnis contribs 23:56, 21 August 2009 (UTC)

New page patrol – Survey Invitation Hello Chrisd87! The WMF is currently developing new tools to make new page patrolling much easier. Whether you have patrolled many pages or only a few, we now need to know about your experience. The survey takes only 6 minutes, and the information you provide will not be shared with third parties other than to assist us in analyzing the results of the survey; the WMF will not use the information to identify you.
Please click HERE to take part. You are receiving this invitation because you have patrolled new pages. For more information, please see NPP Survey |
Hi,
You appear to be eligible to vote in the current Arbitration Committee election. The Arbitration Committee is the panel of editors responsible for conducting the Wikipedia arbitration process. It has the authority to enact binding solutions for disputes between editors, primarily related to serious behavioural issues that the community has been unable to resolve. This includes the ability to impose site bans, topic bans, editing restrictions, and other measures needed to maintain our editing environment. The arbitration policy describes the Committee's roles and responsibilities in greater detail. If you wish to participate, you are welcome to review the candidates' statements and submit your choices on the voting page. New deal for page patrollers
editHi Chrisd87,
In order to better control the quality of new pages, keep out the spam, and welcome the genuine newbies, the current system we introduced in 2011 is being updated and improved. The documentation and tutorials have also been revised and given a facelift. Most importantly a new user group New Page Reviewer has been created.
Under the new rule, you may find that you are temporarily unable to mark new pages as reviewed. However, this is nothing to worry about - most current experienced patrollers are being accorded the the new right without the need to apply, and if you have significant previous experience of patrolling new pages, we strongly encourage you to apply for the new right as soon as possible - we need all the help we can get, and we are now providing a dynamic, supportive environment for your work.
Find out more about this exiting new user right now at New Page Reviewers and be sure to read the new tutorial before applying. MediaWiki message delivery (talk) 04:29, 13 November 2016 (UTC)
