Location of footnotes

edit

Welcome to Wikipedia and thank you for your contributions to the Sepha Khun Chang Khun Phaen article.

Could I suggest you have a quick at the footnote guidelines. Basically, you should format articles in a similar manner to academic papers or follow the Chicago Manual of Style. Thus, ref tags (which create footnotes) should be placed at the end of the sentence, paragraph, or section to which the note refers - not in the section title. Patiwat 07:17, 14 December 2006 (UTC)Reply

p.s., I have relocated your footnotes to a more appropriate location. The current placement is messing up the edit summaries page. Patiwat 07:26, 14 December 2006 (UTC)Reply

  • If you were the actual creator of that BAT cigarette card of Khun Krai (KhunKraiCard.jpg), then it would be appropriate for you to claim that you, the creator of the that work, were releasing it into the public domain. Did you really draw that image and do you own the copyright? If not, I'd suggest replacing the {{PD-self}} license with a more appropriate one.
  • On what basis do you claim that the image on the Thai postage stamp is in the public domain? The Copyright Act of 1994 states that only certain types of state documents are in the public domain - and postage stamps are not listed. Please clarify or replace the license with a more appropriate one. Patiwat 08:19, 14 December 2006 (UTC)Reply

Some tips

edit
  • To change an article name, first make sure that the article name conforms to Wikipedia guidelines. Then, goto the "move" tab on the top of the article and choose the new name. If that new name hasn't already been taken, the article and the talk page should be automatically redirected to the new name you specified. No need to change bookmarks or article links.
  • In user Talk pages and article Discussion pages replies to specific topics should be placed within those topics rather than as new topics. For example, to reply to this topic, click on [edit] (it should appear on the right of the topic title) rather than on "+" or "edit this page". This helps keep things organized. Unspecified source for Image:PhrayaKanburi.jpg

edit

Thanks for uploading Image:PhrayaKanburi.jpg. I noticed that the file's description page currently doesn't specify who created the content, so the copyright status is unclear. If you did not create this file yourself, then you will need to specify the owner of the copyright. If you obtained it from a website, then a link to the website from which it was taken, together with a restatement of that website's terms of use of its content, is usually sufficient information. However, if the copyright holder is different from the website's publisher, then their copyright should also be acknowledged.

As well as adding the source, please add a proper copyright licensing tag if the file doesn't have one already. If you created/took the picture, audio, or video then the {{GFDL-self}} tag can be used to release it under the GFDL. If you believe the media meets the criteria at Wikipedia:Fair use, use a tag such as {{non-free fair use in|article name}} or one of the other tags listed at Wikipedia:Image copyright tags#Fair use. See Wikipedia:Image copyright tags for the full list of copyright tags that you can use.

If you have uploaded other files, consider checking that you have specified their source and tagged them, too. You can find a list of files you have uploaded by following this link. Unsourced and untagged images may be deleted one week after they have been tagged, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If the image is copyrighted under a non-free license (per Wikipedia:Fair use) then the image will be deleted 48 hours after 23:00, 1 January 2008 (UTC). If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. Jusjih (talk) 23:00, 1 January 2008 (UTC)Reply

Lilit Yuan Phai

edit

Hello, Aj. Chris & Aj. Pasuk. Thank you for your creating the Yuan Phai article (and also for your earlier work on Khun Chang Khun Phaen). Direct contributions to Wikipedia by academics and subject experts are usually quite rare, but are greatly appreciated. So thank you again for your time and effort.

There is, unfortunately, an issue with an image used in the article. File:ChiangChuenMap4.jpg is based on a Google Earth screenshot, and since Google's data providers maintain copyright claims over the imagery, Wikipedia policy doesn't allow them to be used. I've tried looking for alternative free satellite image sources from NASA and the USGS, but those don't have nearly enough resolution to illustrate the area. I'm afraid we'll have to do without an image for now. Thank you for understanding. --Paul_012 (talk) 20:08, 16 November 2014 (UTC)Reply

Update: There appears to be a map of Si Satchanalai Historical Park created by User:Hdamm some time ago. A modified copy of it could serve as a replacement for the satellite image. --Paul_012 (talk) 20:15, 16 November 2014 (UTC)Reply

Hi, Paul. Thanks. I looked this up before posting the map. As far as I read it, Google actively encourages you to use Google Earth images on the net and elsewhere, but insists (quite reasonably) that the image includes their logo and their copyright claim. See http://www.google.com/permissions/geoguidelines.html. I adjusted the map I made to make sure it conformed to those conditions. So what's the problem?

Thanks for the Historical Park shot. I'd found that and planned to link it in later. --User:chrispasuk 17 Nov 2014

Google does allow and encourage the use of their product images, but under terms stricter than the licences allowed by Wikipedia. For example, Google doesn't allow modification of the images, but Wikipedia insists than only images with free licences (i.e. free to modify and distribute, even for commercial purposes) be used. --Paul_012 (talk) 12:17, 18 November 2014 (UTC)Reply
OK. Thanks again. I've switched to the park image.Chrispasuk (talk) 04:38, 19 November 2014 (UTC)Reply

Hi. Thank you for your recent edits. Wikipedia appreciates your help. We noticed though that when you edited Yuan Phai, you added links pointing to the disambiguation pages Nan and Ayutthaya. Such links are almost always unintended, since a disambiguation page is merely a list of "Did you mean..." article titles. Read the FAQ • Join us at the DPL WikiProject.

Speedy deletion nomination of File:ChiangChuenMap4.jpg

edit

A tag has been placed on File:ChiangChuenMap4.jpg requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section F9 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the image appears to be a blatant copyright infringement. For legal reasons, we cannot accept copyrighted images or text borrowed from other web sites or printed material, and as a consequence, your addition will most likely be deleted. Wikipedia takes copyright violations very seriously and persistent violators will be blocked from editing.

If you think this page should not be deleted for this reason, you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Click here to contest this speedy deletion". This will give you the opportunity to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. However, be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be removed without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag from the page yourself, but do not hesitate to add information in line with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. Lilit Phra Lo

Hello, Aj. Chris & Pasuk. A few weeks ago you created Draft:Lilit Phra Lo and tagged it as a new unreviewed article. As the draft namespace is mostly for works in progress, I'd like to publish the draft to the main namespace if you're done working with the article. --Paul_012 (talk) 21:03, 25 June 2018 (UTC)Reply

Dear Paul_012. Many thanks. We are not quite ready. We put up the draft to get input from a handful or friends. There are a couple of points where we are not sure we have got the information right. We should have this in a couple of days, and we will let you know. Chrispasuk (talk) 01:57, 26 June 2018 (UTC)Reply

Hi, I'm RonBot, a script that checks new non-free file uploads. I have found that the subject image that you recently uploaded was more than 5% in excess of the Non-free content guideline size of 100,000 pixels. I have tagged the image for a standard reduction, which (for jpg/gif/png/svg files) normally happens within a day. Please check the reduced image, and make sure that the image is not excessively corrupted. Other files will be added to Category:Wikipedia non-free file size reduction requests for manual processing. There is a full seven-day period before the original oversized image will be hidden; during that time you might want to consider editing the original image yourself (perhaps an initial crop to allow a smaller reduction or none at all). A formula for calculation the desired size can be found at WP:Image resolution, along with instructions on how to tag the image in the rare cases that it requires an oversized image (typically about 0.2% of non-free uploads are tagged as necessarily oversized). Please contact the bot owner if you have any questions, or you can ask them at Wikipedia talk:Non-free content. RonBot (talk) 17:28, 28 June 2018 (UTC)Reply

Orphaned non-free image File:Cover of Pei-Xiong Translation of Lilit Phra Lo 2013.jpg

edit

Thanks for uploading File:Cover of Pei-Xiong Translation of Lilit Phra Lo 2013.jpg. The image description page currently specifies that the image is non-free and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. However, the image is currently not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the image was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. However, please note that images for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable for use on Wikipedia (see our policy for non-free media).

Note that any non-free images not used in any articles will be deleted after seven days, as described in section F5 of the criteria for speedy deletion. Thank you. --B-bot (talk) 17:32, 3 July 2018 (UTC)Reply

Conflict of interest declaration

Hi Chris, really appreciate the edits but could you please fix the refs? 1) They don't exactly match what's in the bibliography (use Sfn|LAST NAME ONLY (based on the last name given in the bibliography)|year|p=Add page number), so currently clicking on them doesn't highlight the relevant source 2) Please give the exact page(s) being cited if possible. See Template:Sfn for more pointers. This would be really helpful. Thanks! KINGofLETTUCE 👑 🥬 11:15, 27 December 2022 (UTC)Reply
