Adoption
editHello, ChristianJR! I see that you have expressed an interest in being adopted by an experienced editor. I accept your request, being an experienced editor myself. Whether you want to learn about wiki markup, find something to do, or just talk to somebody, I'm the one you can talk to - just leave a message on my talk page. Good luck with Wikipedia! --Daniel Olsen 05:45, 17 December 2006 (UTC)
Spelling
editWelcome ChristianJR. i just wanted to stop by to offer a little advice. i saw your edits as far a spelling was concerned per the elephant article. your edits corrected words that were british spellings (such as colour or theatre). since this is the english version of wikipedia, some words are going to have different spellings and don't necessarily need to be corrected.

Still a little unsure on how to respond, thanks for the tip!

- you have a good eye for editing, and that is what makes a great editor. if you look at my talk page, you will see that i was editing articles using American style quotes. however, wikipedia uses British quotes (which come before punctuation). i wasn't happy about this, but i didn't realize the person pointing it out was simply giving me a little guidance. that's all i was trying to do. ive edited words with dual spellings, and people weren't so cool to me. apparently the brits are still steaming over the whole revolution thing. haha. just joking. - There is a whole section that discusses this issue, please see Wikipedia:Manual_of_Style#National_varieties_of_English. Basically, it says keep a consisent spelling throughout the article. Generally, if the article is about something in Britain, it should use british spelling, but if it is something to do with the US, it should use american spelling, and things that are used everwhere can be either. Hell on Wheels (album)
editHi. You reverted my change to Hell on Wheels (album) where I commented out the "album cover" image with out giving any explanation as to why. This image still doesn't look correct and I've put some comments on the discuss page. Wrs1864 02:58, 28 December 2006 (UTC)
I am sorry! I must've not seen that it was in the discussion section! I'm still a bit new! Sincere apologies!ChristianJR 03:00, 28 December 2006 (UTC)
- No problem! I didn't add the discussion until after you made your revert. You can't see what isn't there. ;-) I did put an explantion about why I commented out the image in my edit summary. Wrs1864 03:12, 28 December 2006 (UTC)
Editing Help!
editI have a question about linking a page with the incorrect title to the correct page. I would like to do it myself and need help! The article has spaces in the title when it shouldn't. ChristianJR 03:07, 28 December 2006 (UTC)
- The only way you can change the title of an article is by moving it. Up in the top menu bar, there should be an option to "move" the article, along with the "history" and "watch" options. Wrs1864 03:10, 28 December 2006 (UTC)
