Managing a conflict of interest
editHello, CitoyenSolidaire. We welcome your contributions, but if you have an external relationship with the people, places or things you have written about on the page Draft:Clara Egger, you may have a conflict of interest (COI). Editors with a conflict of interest may be unduly influenced by their connection to the topic. See the conflict of interest guideline and FAQ for organizations for more information. We ask that you:
- avoid editing or creating articles about yourself, your family, friends, colleagues, company, organization or competitors;
- propose changes on the talk pages of affected articles (you can use the {{request edit}} template);
- disclose your conflict of interest when discussing affected articles (see Wikipedia:Conflict of interest#How to disclose a COI);
- avoid linking to your organization's website in other articles (see Wikipedia:Spam#External link spamming);
- do your best to comply with Wikipedia's content policies.
In addition, you are required by the Wikimedia Foundation's terms of use to disclose your employer, client, and affiliation with respect to any contribution which forms all or part of work for which you receive, or expect to receive, compensation. See Wikipedia:Paid-contribution disclosure.
Also, editing for the purpose of advertising, publicising, or promoting anyone or anything is not permitted. At the Teahouse you stated "This is volunteer work in order to help promote democracy in my country. I'm in a hurry because the elections are comming very soon and my candidate is a non-partisan candidate with only volunteers to support her". It is important that full declaration of connections between editors and the people they write about is made clear. Nick Moyes (talk) 18:22, 15 January 2022 (UTC)
- @User:Nick Moyes I am not paid for this contribution, and am not part of the organization, which is not a party. This is volunteer work on my own to translate the French page about this candidate to English, because I find her non-partisan message is important for the quality of the upcoming debates that will take place for the French Presidency elections 1st round. In my opinion, this is not a conflict of interest. Please insist if you still think it is. Thank you. I see User:TheTechnician27 has posted suggestions to make the article more fit for en.wikipedia.org, which I intend to take into account. I insist on the fact that my article is a direct translation (as best as I could) from French to English. Thank you! CitoyenSolidaire (talk) 19:14, 15 January 2022 (UTC)
- @User:Nick Moyes My intent was to provide an English translation of the French article. I thought it would be "easy", just a few hours of translation work and careful code editing. But after reviewing @User:TheTechnician27's expert comments, I realize how hard it can be to write a good article. I'm not sure whether the original French article on fr.wikipedia.org would have met these high standards if it had been submitted here in the first place. Maybe a complete rewrite is necessary? I'm grateful for your help, but I feel discouraged and useless. Best regards. CitoyenSolidaire (talk) 22:02, 15 January 2022 (UTC)
