For some, just mentioning the word "information box" (infobox, ibox, idiotbox) is a provocation. Please find something less controversial to do. Check out Talk:Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart/Archive 14 for one example of a time-sink, or check out Wikipedia talk:WikiProject Composers/Archive 40. Fill red links, correct mistakes, - even write about composers adding an infobox (because in articles you write, you will have the freedom to add one). Bus stop, I wrote the above when I saw on my watchlist (which I check from newest to oldest) that the courteous question by a new editor had been reverted, twice (Talk:Brahms), and I tried to explain why that could happen. I didn't know any other place yet. I addressed someone new, trying to prevent that others loose time and health in these irrational "battles" dating back to 2005. --Gerda Arendt (talk) 06:45, 17 August 2020 (UTC)

@Gerda Arendt I was just inquiring why certain pages didn’t have information boxes while most do. Such as composers some writers and some directors. It just seems strange to me. I did not know the history of this matter as I am new. @Bus stop helped educate me on this matter. With all that is going on in today’s world it seems like such a ridiculous thing for people to get upset about. And I would not have brought it up if I had known that it would bother so many people. • Can we not pretend that this person is either a frustrated, retired academic from Harvard who is desperate to improve an online encyclopaedia so he can continue to educate the world, or that they are a minimum wage-earning shop worker from Coventry who's never been academically prosperous, but thought they'd have a go at improving Wikipedia after struggling to fight off a bout of insomnia, and took up a bit of gnoming. @Cassianto not that I have to explain myself to you or anybody else, because I have broken no rule. I will go ahead and explain myself more clearly. I literally have just started editing on Wikipedia. Part of the reason I created this account was to ask why certain pages had Info boxes and others didn’t. I was curious. Now I know. And to inquire of how I “happened across six of the most controversial articles on the subject“ I noticed that Mozart did not have an info box so I checked the other composers many of them did not have it either. I also remembered that I saw that Stanley Kubrick did not have one either nor Ian Fleming. I remember these because I thought it peculiar that they didn’t have it. Now I know. In the future perhaps you should not judge a book by its cover. You do not know anything about me and have no right to cast judgment. I will not be responding to any more comments on the matter of info boxes. I hope there is no hard feelings. I wish you the best. Cj7557 (talk) 08:53, 17 August 2020 (UTC)

Something ain't quite right here. A newbie doesn't usually know how to sign his posts so immediately, know about indenting his/her posts, then quickly track down bios that already had 'infobox' discussions. GoodDay (talk) 15:42, 17 August 2020 (UTC)

Cj7557—in my estimation, you didn't do anything wrong. In my estimation the problem is with the people being bothered so much. I agree wholeheartedly that biographies should have Info-boxes. (People have places and dates of birth and death and reason(s) for notability. Info-boxes address these things with aplomb.) I don't bring this up because WP:CONSENSUS, at least at the Talk:Stanley Kubrick article, is furiously in favor of no Info-box. But I believe you really truly are a new editor who is therefore new to this passionately-fought-over issue, and I felt I had to weigh-in to voice my agreement with your observation. I won't fix indenting once more ;) - Do you want to help me? Today, I came across an article that is threatened with deletion, - would you find sources? Don't edit right away because someone is busy right now according to my watch list. I also have a list of articles on my user page that are red links or not fully developed. I have a friend, LouisAlain, who creates several articles each day which would profit from infoboxes. He often clicks me thank-you when I add one, - you could earn those ;) - Nice to meet you. @Gerda Arendt In regard Joel Amadi I have had only minimal success. I have found many many articles about the tragic death of his father. And a few places where you can download his music and the names of the songs. But nothing else. I even tried using different search engines google, bing, Yahoo, and duck duck go but most had the same results. If these are helpful then I can provide links. But it looks as if most of the information I have found has already been added to his page. One or two even quote the same sources I found. Cj7557 (talk) 22:34, 17 August 2020 (UTC)

• Cj7557, welcome to Wikipedia. My best advice is to stay away from articles that are already highly developed - they tend to have editors who are personally attached to their work. I know how tempting it is to try to get an infobox on specific articles, but its a sisyphean task - nothing will be accomplished and the level of abuse can be emotionally tolling. Shift that effort to productive endeavors on more esoteric topics. Hope you enjoy editing! ~ HAL333 00:07, 18 August 2020 (UTC)

Thank you for looking, Cj (if I may say so, - feel free to call me Gerda). The article is already in much better shape. I believe that if you watch the nominations for deletion, you could do much good! I watch Deaths in 2020 and look for those that interest me, making sure that they are not tagged, and decently sourced.
