Welcome

edit

Hello Chris, welcome to Wikipedia.

Normally when welcoming people I'd point them towards all sorts of links on how to edit pages, policies, etc, but you seem to be pretty au fais (sp?) with that already.

Having an interest in editing, have you come across {{msg:Opentask}} yet? this expands out to:

You can help improve the articles listed below! This list updates frequently, so check back here for more tasks to try. (See Wikipedia:Maintenance or the Task Center for further information.)

Help counter systemic bias by creating new articles on important women.

Help improve popular pages, especially those of low quality.

If you have any questions, see the help pages, add a question to the village pump or ask me on my talk page. I hope you enjoy editing here and being a Wikipedian!

By the way, I love the idea of having a stub message on your user page - if I knew anything about you, I'd happily expand it! Again, welcome! --ALargeElk 10:30, 24 May 2004 (UTC)Reply

Hello. :-) Tenbaset 07:18, Jun 10, 2004 (UTC)

Thanks to User:ALargeElk for the welcome and to Shannon for the greeting! I've been doing little bits of editing on shortish articles, mostly because I haven't yet found the time to read through longer ones, but I look forward to showing the world just how fastidious I can be…yep, you heard it here first. :-) —cky 12:42, 2004 Jun 10 (UTC)

Thanks, both! I'm very likely to attend the meetup, and I've had a quick peek at the NZ Mediawiki site and will be interested to see discussions around this go. —cky 01:13, 20 May 2006 (UTC)Reply
Did you by any chance end up with the pen I was using in the pub? I've put an advert up for it at Wikipedia talk:Meetup/Auckland.-gadfium 08:44, 26 June 2006 (UTC)Reply
Sorry about the late reply, and sorry, I don't have your pen. I hope you found it in the end. —cky 08:43, 12 December 2006 (UTC)Reply

Invitation to an in-person meetup in Mohua / Golden Bay

edit

Golden Bay Air are holding some seats for us until 21 November

Thinking about your summer break? Think about joining other Wikipedians and Wikimedians in Golden Bay / Mohua! Details are on the meetup page. There's heaps of interesting stuff to work on e.g. the oldest extant waka or New Zealand's oldest ongoing legal case. Or you may spend your time taking photos and then upload them.

Golden Bay is hard to get to and the airline flying into Tākaka uses small planes, so we are holding some seats from and to Wellington and we are offering attendees a $200 travel subsidy to help with costs.

Be in touch with Schwede66 if this event interests you and you'd like to discuss logistics. Schwede66 09:14, 13 November 2023 (UTC)Reply
