ClueBot III is b0rken, please fix it!
- The
maxarchsize
parameter handling is broken. If the specified archive page is too large, the bot will hang until one of the following conditions is true:- The format parameter contains PHP date codes, and enough time passes so that a new archive page is used.
getpage()
receives an error and returns false, in which case PHP's strlen returns 0.
%%i
value.- Speaking of which, you could find the appropriate page more easily by using an API query like this and then checking each candidate archive page's
length
using those results.
- The bot makes absolutely no attempt to avoid edit conflicts. What it should do is retrieve the wpStarttime and wpEdittime values when loading the current page contents, and then use those values when it attempts to write the page. What it actually does is load wpEdittime and wpStarttime just before it attempts to write, which may be hours after it originally loaded the page contents. If this bug were fixed, then the first bug wouldn't be so noticeable because the archiving would just not happen instead of randomly removing other messages on the page.
- The bot forks an archive process once each hour, even if the previous hour's bot process is still running. Combined with the first bug, this can easily lead to the same section being "archived" multiple times. See the number of repeated sections in Wikipedia:Bot requests/Archive 22 for example.

YOU ERASED MY EDIT
HOW DARE YOU CLUEBOT2! ERASING MY EDIT! HOW DARE YOU! Reliable♪Forever (talk) 11:23, 3 November 2008 (UTC)
- Look at ClueBotII's userpage, policy is that the heading in the sandbox must be there at all times, this bot resets the sandbox whenever the heading is changed, replacing the heading. Clark89 (talk) 00:46, 5 November 2008 (UTC)

Index
Did Cluebot III not create an index for my talk page at User:ClueBot III/Indices/User talk:Chrishy? Cluebot III did use an archive, but there aren't any links to it. Will this problem sort itself out on the next update, or could it just be created? Thanks, —Chrishy 08:18, 8 November 2008 (UTC)
- The problem resolved itself...or maybe I was just too impatient. Either way, it's all working now. —Chrishy 20:29, 8 November 2008 (UTC)
ClueBot Reports on Cobi's talk page
*Sigh* The ClueBot server is shut down again. I've come here to bring up two questions:
- Why exactly does Cobi have ClueBot Reports on his talk page so he gets that orange New Messages bar all the time?
- If the ClueBot (the Anti-Vandalism bot) server is shut down again, why do the reports say that it is currently enabled?
Something horrible seems to have happened
I added an auto-archive template to my user talk page, but have somehow ended up with an enormously long archive index consisting entirely of pages that are not connected with my talk page. Help, please!
SpiderJon (talk) 19:19, 10 November 2008 (UTC)
- That means the bot (ClueBot III, I assume) got a malformed reply from the MediaWiki API and therefore messed up. Blank the index page (User:ClueBot III/Indices/User talk:SpiderJon), the next time the bot comes around and updates the index it should be OK. Calvin 1998 (t·c) 23:27, 10 November 2008 (UTC)
- Thanks Calvin - all is indeed now well. SpiderJon (talk) 23:32, 10 November 2008 (UTC)
Much less horrible, but still odd
Why are my User talk archives not listed in chronological order? SpiderJon (talk) 17:29, 11 November 2008 (UTC)
- Creation date for User talk:SpiderJon/Archives/2008/November: 18:56, 10 November 2008
- Creation date for User talk:SpiderJon/Archives/2007/December: 12:15, 11 November 2008
- Creation date for User talk:SpiderJon/Archives/2008/October: 12:16, 11 November 2008
- As you see, they are in chronological order. -- Cobi(t|c|b) 17:42, 11 November 2008 (UTC)
- Hi Cobi - thanks for the reply (and for Cluebot generally!). I did wonder if date was the issue. Okay... my follow-up question is - how do I get them to display in chronological order of archive title? (ie, the chronological order that makes sense for the usage context, rather than the implementation). SpiderJon (talk) 21:02, 11 November 2008 (UTC)
- Create the pages in the order you want. Move the old pages out of the way, and create the ones you want, then db-u1 the old ones. -- Cobi(t|c|b) 22:46, 11 November 2008 (UTC)
- Will do. Thanks again. SpiderJon (talk) 23:21, 11 November 2008 (UTC)

Having brain failure
I was quite active, my talk page was busy. I used werdnabot. It worked. I set up an archive scheme that worked with it. Shadowbot took over, and failed, it seems. OK, all that is history. But just today I am a bear of very little brain.
How do I set your archive bot up on my talk page so that it archives in the exciting (I must get out more) and very flat scheme with {{atn}} at the head of each page? Cluebot seems to want to go deeper into the pseudo-directory structure which is mediawiki.
Am I just confusing myself? I'm easy to confuse! All I want to do is to archive dead stuff from my talk page and fill up disk space with the archives. I could blank it all, I suppose, but where's the fun in that? I am a natural blond. Please use short words and short sentences. Fiddle Faddle (talk) 17:15, 12 November 2008 (UTC)

The script does not work on my talk page.
I have tried my best to make it work. I have put the script petty similar to that on the instructions page. Could you help me archive my talk page? ~~ Sintaku Talk 22:55, 17 November 2008 (UTC)
Changing username/Usurpations
Thanks for checking my Request "Horge_de → Horge". I see the notice The user requesting this usurpation did not leave a message for the user who is being usurped. But i think i did. My request was sent at 20:30, 19 November 2008 and i noticed the old "horge" alt 20:26, 19 November 2008 (UTC). If I made a mistake, please let me know. Thank you for reverting my edit, Cluebot Commons. I didn't know what I was doing when I edited Paramount Pictures vs United States. Ho2 (talk) 04:34, 30 November 2008 (UTC)
Section header at SCV?
Would it confuse ClueBot if I add a section heading in WP:SCV, immediately before the list of articles? Thanks. ☺Coppertwig(talk) 02:10, 30 November 2008 (UTC)
- As long as "<!-- When removing items from this list, please only edit below this comment. -->" is the last thing before the list, it should be fine. -- Cobi(t|c|b) 05:28, 30 November 2008 (UTC)
