Your Article was deleted as a blatant advertisement. I recommend if you recreate it using the article wizard and submit it at Wikipedia:Articles for Creation. Also, this user, cluebot, is a robot. Problem with ClueBot III?

I was looking through some archives recently and noticed that the archives are not ending up the same as the original text. In particular, it is replacing a {{discussion top}} tag with a {{tl|discussion top}} tag. See for example this removal and archive. Is this an actual bug or is there a way around this? No citations on 'Isabella I of Castile' page

Hello ClueBot, I was reading the 'Isabella I of Castile' page, saw your name in the edit history and couldn't help but notice that there was not one single citation on the entire page... ClueBot source and MediaWiki SVN

Hi Cobi, wikibot.classes.php is very useful and should probably supplant pywikipediabot as being the standard bot framework for MediaWiki. I think it would be useful to commit it to the MediaWiki SVN, with some tweaks to make it more adaptable for use on wikis other than Wikipedia. Then the community can collaborate on it there. It seems to me that this would be preferable to creating forks of the code you have created for specific uses. Of course, it would be necessary to formally release it into a free software license like the GPL and/or CC-by-SA. What do you think? Thanks, Tisane (talk) 10:11, 26 May 2010 (UTC)

I'm sure that, given your history of contributions, you would be approved for SVN by the reviewers of commit access requests. Would you be willing to apply for that? It is probably better for you, as the code author, to gain access before the code is committed; doing otherwise has been a source of problems in the past. Your request might get handled more expeditiously, by the way, if you only request commit access to http://svn.wikimedia.org/svnroot/mediawiki/trunk/tools/, which is where wikibot would probably be committed, rather than to the entire SVN repository. It's not really nice to change your comment substantially. Especially without marking it somewhat so that people can see easily what was done.

Your new comment somewhat contradicts the first part of you comment -- "It is probably better for you, as the code author, to gain access before the code is committed; doing otherwise has been a source of problems in the past." followed by "I went ahead and committed it".

I did end up making the request, however, for several reasons, it would have been nice of you to have held off until I was approved.

Having deleted it from SVN pending approval of your commit access request, I have now readded it. By the way, is it necessary for wikipediaquery, wikipediaapi, and wikipediaindex to be three separate classes? It seems like it might simplify things a bit to just use one class, as some of the other bot frameworks do. Also, shall we name it something besides wikibot? Everyone and their siblings, both fraternal and sororal, seem to want to name their bots "Wikibot"; to avoid confusion, maybe we should call this the Cobibot framework or something? The classes are kept for backwards compatibility. I would prefer that the function prototypes that exist still work the way they do for backwards compatibility reasons until the next major version, so updates are just a drop-in replacement. Why, ClueBot?

You always seem to come and go on us. Nobody can replace you (although it appears no bot does substitute for you when you're down). Revive Wikipedia as soon as you possibly can. It's been 4 days already anyhow, and it seems we have to rely exclusively on the edit filter or the most recent changes altogether. Sorry, everybody. Unfortunately the celebration was short lived. ClueBot disappeared again after only 4 hours, 38 minutes. I plea that he can drink some water soon and get back to business. SoxBot is probably overloaded, so he couldn't take the place! Any ideas until then? Answered. See above, Cluebot has been having trouble recently with his datacentre recently and I can see he didn't make many edits between 13 and 14 June. Sorry about that. Apparently ClueBot saw the redirect part and noticed that it was a red link, and reverted it for being a broken redirect. This is what happens when the database servers lag -- one query goes to one which is up to date, so the bot then asks for the target of the redirect, and that goes to a lagged server, and it says that it does not exist. :( -- Cobi^(t|c|b) 17:59, 15 June 2010 (UTC)

False what now?

I suggest ClueBot determine the difference between ClueBot's new version of the article and the one that is being reverted.

• For some reason when ClueBot determines the difference between the one that is being reverted and the one prior to that, the math is sometimes incorrect.
• On the article Liquid crystal display, ClueBot stated the IP address deleted 56922 characters, but ClueBot's edit deleted an additional 91865 characters.

• The implication: 129905 + 56922 = 38040

• The ideal solution would probably be for ClueBot to detect the latest edit before the user who supposedly vandalized and then do the math from there. This adds a similar detection sense found in Rollback.

WP:USURP clerking - fix erroneous interwiki linking

I don't think it's possible for ClueBot to warn some IP addresses and not others. Whilst I'm not saying that you would vandalise Wikipedia, it would be possible that someone else could use your computer and they could then vandalise Wikipedia, and if the IP address was on some form of 'ignore' list by the bots that person could continually vandalise Wikipedia.

I would suggest that you create an account to try and prevent this happening in the future. Any questions feel free to ask :)

Very unusual mistake

Hyphenated words (particular \"-sex\" and \"cock-\")

ClueBot seems to make false positives on small edits that contain "sex" and "cock". Of course some of these are unavoidable, but it seems to me that at least those where the word is used in a compound term (same-sex, cock-a-hoop) and so on are most likely not obscene edits and that the regexes could be easily changed to avoid flagging them as such.

I do realise that this would mean some vandalism would pass under the net, but on balance I think it would save some trouble. I come here to see what other editors might think. In particular, references to the play Cock-a-Doodle Dandy have been falsely reported three times in June 2010 (already); and "same-sex" and "opposite-sex" also flagged up, when of course uses like this are not only innocent but, it seems to me, less likely to be used in a context of obscene vandalism.

I also note that "suckling" in an article on whales was erroneously flagged, similarly the regex could refuse to match on "suckl"; here the problem is that anything (or nothing) following "suck" to a word break is matched, but perhaps it should be "suck[^l]].*\b" or something like that.

I imagine this has been discussed before. I'm not new to WP, but am new to this. Apologies for inadvertently adding comments to the archive before I realised it was an archive; I've reverted those. (Didn't realise June 2010 was already archived.) Si Trew (talk) 09:40, 24 June 2010 (UTC)

ClueBot only warns if the API says that it's rollback was successful. This has occurred a few times in extreme race conditions, and I am not sure where the bug exists in MediaWiki, but it is annoying. -- Cobi^(t|c|b) 08:11, 28 June 2010 (UTC)

I think that if the ClueBot score equals -16383 or even lower, the edit should automatically be reported to AIV. Edits that do try to be constructive will most likely be higher than score equals -2500. I mention this after this IP address inputted a score equals -228828.
