Hi, ClueBot III linked to the wrong AN archive in its edits to Talk:North Africa and User talk:Graham87/Archive 19. In both cases, it tried to link to a non-existent section at Wikipedia:Administrators' noticeboard/Archive234 called "Histmerge needs fixing". The section actually exists at archive 228. I've fixed the links manually, but this bug is quite concerning. Graham87 14:57, 30 April 2012 (UTC)

Perhaps the bugg occurred because there is a section called "Histmerge" in archive 234. Graham87 15:03, 30 April 2012 (UTC)

More strange archive behavior

As I mentioned in this thread CBIII has copied the entire talk page of Thomas Jefferson into Archive 17. I've reverted the edit as it would likely lead to infinite archive pages as I pointed out here and another user pointed out here. In the case of Thomas Jefferson, the bot code was in the correct area so this wasn't caused by misplacement. Brad (talk) 22:33, 27 April 2012 (UTC)

And again after I tried to repair the previous one. Brad (talk) 07:45, 28 April 2012 (UTC)

Rich, can you apply this patch? That should fix it. -- Cobi(t|c|b) 10:14, 28 April 2012 (UTC)
And again. I guess I'll just revert until it's fixed...one day. Brad (talk) 04:16, 29 April 2012 (UTC)

Reversion of changes to article "Soil"

The bot correctly reverted the changes that amounted to vandalism but failed to restore the links to the half dozen images. Is there a fix other than to search those out and re-edit the page?

thanks much Zedshort (talk) 01:25, 2 May 2012 (UTC)

This problem has nothing to do with ClueBot NG; the difference between the edit before the vandalism and ClueBot NG's edit is absolutely nothing, as it should be. If there is a problem with displaying a page, purging the server cache often helps. Otherwise go to the technical village pump, but it might help to be more specific about the problem that you're experiencing. Graham87 01:40, 2 May 2012 (UTC)

Seamus (dog) article

The ClueBot NG has reversed some ridiculous edits to the Seamus (dog) article that involve comments about Barack Obama eating dog. I commend the bot for doing a good job, but I wondered how it worked. How does it know to remove this specific material? Debbie W. 04:52, 6 May 2012 (UTC)

Request adding keywords for certain articles

I've noticed the same type of vandalism on certain pages. Is there a process to request adding keywords to give CB a hint that the article was vandalized? Fasttimes68 (talk) 23:28, 7 May 2012 (UTC)

Support for {{welcomevandal}}?

I patrol for vandalism in the new users log, and I often warn first-time vandalists with {{welcomevandal}}. I've also seen how ClueBot NG escalates its warnings based on what's on the talk page of the user it's warning; could it treat {{welcomevandal}} as a level one vandalism warning? That way, the four warning system for vandalism still works. David1217 (talk) 01:34, 9 May 2012 (UTC)

Add the standard vandal1 comment to {{welcomevandal}}, and ClueBot NG will honor it. <!-- Template:uw-vandalism1 --> should work so long as it is actually subst'd along with everything else. See {{uw-vand1}} for an example. -- Cobi(t|c|b) 01:37, 9 May 2012 (UTC)
Hmm. I use Twinkle to warn vandals, wonder if I could get support for the <!-- Template:uw-vandalism1 --> comment. I'll probably have to ask the Twinkle folks about that. Thanks Cobi! David1217 (talk) 01:44, 9 May 2012 (UTC)

I'm Sorry

Hey, it's User: 174.54.231.32 The edits 'I' made were actually edits that my brother added. The one to the French Armed Forces was meant to be a joke by him, not me. Also, the page that was submitted for creation he submitted as a Wikipedia page on himself. He was also the one editing Taxation in the United States. I would be more likely to edit any pages on LEGO. I'm sorry for the trouble. I'll also be sending this message to Excirial. Though he uses the same ISP as myself, so he may have done so on his own computer. Either way, I'm sorry. 174.54.231.32 (talk) 02:59, 10 May 2012 (UTC)174.54.231.32

ClueBot III talk page archive

G'day, ClueBot III has archived this page: Talk:Kokoda Track campaign, based on my request. It doesn't appear to have included a link to the new archive on the talk page though. I notice that it has done so on this page, though: Talk:31st Test and Evaluation Squadron. The mark up code looks the same to me when I compare those two pages, though. Have I done something wrong? Cheers, AustralianRupert (talk) 09:51, 12 May 2012 (UTC)

It seems to have fixed itself now. Cheers, AustralianRupert (talk) 20:21, 12 May 2012 (UTC)

Hi. :) Would it be possible to have Cluebot not revert edits like this, where an IP replaces content with a copyright template? I don't know if exceptions of that sort can be built in or if he did something wrong with the template so an existing exception didn't trigger. --Moonriddengirl (talk) 12:12, 14 May 2012 (UTC)

Filtering Obama birther vandalism?

Hi. Would it be feasible to have ClueBot NG watch pages like Natural-born-citizen clause and Barack Obama citizenship conspiracy theories for people who change the text to say that Barack Obama was born in Kenya? (For example, this and this recent activity.) If so, how would I go about bringing this suggestion to the right people's attention? I really did try looking for a "submit suggestion" link somewhere, but without success, so I hope posting the question here on the bot's talk page will be acceptable (and, if necessary, forgiven). Thanks. — Richwales 06:41, 18 May 2012 (UTC)

Not sure about doing it with ClueBot, but you may want to see if an Edit Filter would work for the situation. Monty845 06:46, 18 May 2012 (UTC)

I just read the 'report false positive' instructions --- you've got to be fucking kidding, I'm not going jump through hoops because the bot owner is too fucking lazy to read its talk page. --67.5.158.162 (talk) 19:11, 17 May 2012 (UTC)
It looks like you bumped into a false positive. Did you know reporting these helps ClueBot to not make the same mistake again? So, why not report a false positive at the Report Interface – it's really easy to do! Thank you. - Damian Zaremba (talkcontribs) 19:13, 17 May 2012 (UTC)

I've fixed a bug in the bot, the older edits in the database are slowly being updated. ~45k done, around ~20k left. Until then any edits will display the wrong info or "Unknown" on some fields - reports are still being saved, however. 92.25.176.122 (talk) 14:38, 19 May 2012 (UTC)

Minor glitch in bot edit summary

Just a minor thing, but when reverting , the edit summary left by ClueBot NG contains a (seemingly) useless character string, namely two parentheses () as can be seen here. -- Toshio Yamaguchi (tlkctb) 10:40, 22 May 2012 (UTC)

[3] Thanks for all your work, Khazar2 (talk) 15:23, 23 May 2012 (UTC)

I think you would normally report such a false positive via [4], which is linked to in the first blue box on this page. However, the link currently seems to be broken. You could drop Cobi or Crispy1989 a message on their talk pages, but I don't know how active they are lately. -- Toshio Yamaguchi (tlkctb) 15:36, 23 May 2012 (UTC)

Error when attempting to review dataset

I've been trying to get onto http://review.cluebot.org/ but it just tells me Error: Server Error The server encountered an error and could not complete your request. If the problem persists, please report your problem and mention this error message and the query that caused it. with my tab being labeled "500 Server Error" I'm very out of my depth here, and am not even sure how to report it after I've followed the link. It would be great if we could get the review interface onto a more stable footing. There is a backlog of edits to review, and people willing to review them, but we just can't get in at the moment. False positive

The link for reporting false positives is broken. So I'm reporting one here:

http://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=CrossFit&diff=next&oldid=493440597

It is actually a good revert, in that it improved the article, but the edit was made in good faith, and was not vandalism.

Rracecarr (talk) 20:03, 22 May 2012 (UTC)

Then it's not a false positive.—cyberpower ChatOnline 20:05, 22 May 2012 (UTC)
Let's think this through. Any good-faith effort to improve the encyclopedia is not vandalism, by definition. Therefore, in an ideal world, an anti-vandal bot would not label it as vandalism and revert it. If the bot does treat a good-faith edit as vandalism, even though it might be misguided, willfully against consensus, or disruptive, then that would be a false positive. I think. – Wdchk (talk) 01:50, 24 May 2012 (UTC)
It's not a false positive of the edit made has no place there. It labels every thing as "possible vandalism". Anything that gets reverted that should not have gotten reverted is a false positive.—cyberpower ChatLimited Access 10:04, 24 May 2012 (UTC)
Are you saying that ClueBot NG should intentionally revert poor-quality good-faith edits? That would appear not to be consistent with its BRFA, which states its function as "Vandalism detection and reverting ...". The bot's documentation states: "A false positive is when an edit that is not vandalism is incorrectly classified as vandalism." – Wdchk (talk) 13:05, 24 May 2012 (UTC)

Little Rock Nine

Can you take a look at Little Rock Nine‎. There have been several changes to the article in the last week that look like vandalism to me. This page is normally heavily pattrolled but I think it's gotten a little out of hand. Thanks! Aleutian06 (talk) 14:57, 23 May 2012 (UTC)

Hello, and thank you for raising your concerns. Unfortunately, ClueBot NG is not built to act upon individual reports of vandalism in progress. Also, it's not an admin, and therefore it's unable to perform necessary admin actions in response. However, in this case, it looks like another editor has done a good job of reverting unconstructive edits by IP 213.143.122.77, who was then blocked by an admin. I think this means that all the vandalism has been taken care of, but if you can see any that others have missed, please take a look at WP:Vandalism for more information about how you can help. Thanks! – Wdchk (talk) 01:18, 24 May 2012 (UTC)

Protocol for incrementing warnings?

Hi, is there a protocol for incrementing warnings, please? I was surprised that the 2nd warning here was not escalated. TerriersFan (talk) 20:26, 25 May 2012 (UTC)

WP:Talk page stalker here: those warnings were two weeks apart on a shared IP, no point in escalating as it is extremely likely not to be the same person editing. -RunningOnBrains(talk) 20:27, 25 May 2012 (UTC)
