Welcome
editHello, Cobiorower and welcome to Wikipedia! It appears you are participating in a class project. We encourage you to read our instructions for students. Your instructor or professor may wish to participate in either the School and University WikiProject or the Global Education Program. The Global Education Program is supported by the Wikimedia Foundation and offers official online and classroom support through the Ambassador Program.

I hope you enjoy editing here and being a Wikipedian! Please sign your messages on talk pages using four tildes (~~~~); this will automatically insert your username and the date. If you need help, check out Wikipedia:Questions, ask me on my talk page, or ask your question on this page and then place {{Helpme}}
before the question.
Before you create an article, make sure you understand what kind of articles are accepted here. Remember: Wikipedia is an encyclopedia, and while many topics are encyclopedic, some things are not.
It is highly recommended that you place this text: {{Educational assignment}}
on the talk page of any articles you are working on as part of your Wikipedia-related course assignment. This will let other editors know this article is a subject of an educational assignment and should be treated accordingly.
We hope you like it here and encourage you to stay even after your assignment is finished! Pharaoh of the Wizards (talk) 20:23, 19 September 2012 (UTC)
Welcome!
editHi, and welcome to the Birds WikiProject! As you've probably guessed, we're a group of editors working to improve Wikipedia's coverage of bird-related topics.
A few features that you may find helpful:
- Our navigation box points to most of the useful pages within the project.
- Most important discussions take place on the project's main discussion page; it is highly recommended that you watchlist it.
- The project has several departments, which handle article quality assessment, detailed article and content review, outreach, and other tasks.
- If you're looking for something to work on, there are many articles that need attention.
- Read our current newsletter, and sign up for (or opt out) of future issues.
If you have any questions, please don't hesitate to ask any experienced member of the project; we'll be happy to help you. Again, welcome! We look forward to seeing you around! MeegsC (talk) 13:54, 20 September 2012 (UTC)
Bowerbird
editHi - I've removed the last sentence of your note on the Bowerbird talk page, as it is not of general interest to Wikipedia users/editors. The rest of your comment is indeed germane to the article's content. If you wish to discuss "option(s) for our group to work on," you might consider creating User:Cobiorower/Sandbox, where you can leave messages of this nature. Thanks! --Seduisant (talk) 19:21, 20 September 2012 (UTC)
Peacock trains
editI noticed your comment at Peafowl, unfortunately that article tends to collect a lot of edits that should really go to specific species. I think what you mention is better dealt with in Indian Peafowl. The peafowl article should really be more of a genus/clade level overview. Shyamal (talk) 04:35, 25 September 2012 (UTC)
Disambiguation link notification for November 28
editHi. Thank you for your recent edits. Wikipedia appreciates your help. We noticed though that when you edited Stalk-eyed fly, you added links pointing to the disambiguation pages Posterior and Scutellum (check to confirm | fix with Dab solver). Such links are almost always unintended, since a disambiguation page is merely a list of "Did you mean..." article titles. Read the FAQ • Join us at the DPL WikiProject.

Your GA nomination of René Descartes
editThe article René Descartes you nominated as a good article has failed ; see Talk:René Descartes for reasons why the nomination failed. If or when these points have been taken care of, you may apply for a new nomination of the article. Tomcat (7) 17:41, 2 December 2012 (UTC)
Disambiguation link notification for December 16
editHi. Thank you for your recent edits. Wikipedia appreciates your help. GAN for Indiana Jones
editHi! The article shows a lot of promise, so I'm hoping that you can start to resolve some of the remaining issues. -- Zanimum (talk) 23:15, 21 December 2012 (UTC)
The Dark Knight Rises GA
editFurther to the long delay for the GA on this, please see the thread at Wikipedia talk:Good article nominations#The Dark Knight Rises GA. If you would like, either I or Hahc21 would be willing to pick up the review on this fairly quickly. To do this you will have to remove the review tag on the talk page and re-nominate straight away; it would be best to then report that you have done that on the thread above. The review will be picked up by one of us shortly after that. It has taken too long for Saw t get back on his rather questionable point about the plot, which I think would have taken it outside the scope of a GA. Hi,
You appear to be eligible to vote in the current Arbitration Committee election. The Arbitration Committee is the panel of editors responsible for conducting the Wikipedia arbitration process. It has the authority to enact binding solutions for disputes between editors, primarily related to serious behavioural issues that the community has been unable to resolve. This includes the ability to impose site bans, topic bans, editing restrictions, and other measures needed to maintain our editing environment. The arbitration policy describes the Committee's roles and responsibilities in greater detail. If you wish to participate, you are welcome to review the candidates' statements and submit your choices on the voting page.
