Coleopterist
Welcome!
Hello, Coleopterist, and welcome to Wikipedia! Thank you for your contributions. I hope you like the place and decide to stay. Unfortunately, one or more of the pages you created, such as Anthony Adrian Allen (entomologist), may not conform to some of Wikipedia's guidelines, and may soon be deleted.
There's a page about creating articles you may want to read called Your first article. If you are stuck, and looking for help, please come to the New contributors' help page, where experienced Wikipedians can answer any queries you have! Or, you can just type {{helpme}} on this page, and someone will show up shortly to answer your questions. Here are a few other good links for newcomers:

I hope you enjoy editing here and being a Wikipedian! Please sign your name on talk pages using four tildes (~~~~); this will automatically produce your name and the date. The article Anthony Adrian Allen (entomologist) has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:
- A web search on the subject's name "Anthony Adrian Allen" produces no relevant references. The source given is insufficient to establish notability.
While all contributions to Wikipedia are appreciated, content or articles may be deleted for any of several reasons.
You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{proposed deletion/dated}}
notice, but please explain why in your edit summary or on the article's talk page.
Please consider improving the article to address the issues raised. Removing {{proposed deletion/dated}}
will stop the proposed deletion process, but other deletion processes exist. The speedy deletion process can result in deletion without discussion, and articles for deletion allows discussion to reach consensus for deletion. Safiel (talk) 22:18, 26 December 2010 (UTC)
I have moved your comment from the main article to the article's talk page. Also, there does appear to be sufficient references available. I will leave the PROD tag up for the time being, but you have a full week to properly reference the article to establish notability. Safiel (talk) 23:08, 26 December 2010 (UTC)
Thanks! Will flesh it out over the next few days, but the bulk of it will come when obituaries are published (as then there'll be a bit more citable information). RE conflict of interest, I never met him but am in the same field of science Coleopterist (talk) 00:02, 27 December 2010 (UTC)
- Ok, sounds good. Safiel (talk) 00:14, 27 December 2010 (UTC)

editPlease do not remove speedy deletion notices from pages you have created yourself, as you did with Anthony Adrian Allen (entomologist). Please use the {{hangon}} template on the page instead if you disagree with the deletion, and make your case on the page's talk page. Thank you. JamesBWatson (talk) 17:49, 28 December 2010 (UTC)
Thanks. Speedy deletion tag in this case was added when the article was less than 4 lines long and had no references yet, within 30 -40 minutes of it being started (i.e. no-one could have formed an honest opinion on it or on the subject yet)- so I assume it was added by someone just trying to discourage beginners and not by an honest admin. The person who posted it (something beginning with a) has not been in touch but I have since had helpful advice and guidance from an admin called safiel Coleopterist (talk) 22:15, 28 December 2010 (UTC)
Incidentally here's the log. Started article 20.30 and it was tipped for deletion 21.00. I am not an experienced Wiki person AT ALL but I am sure even the best would expect to take more than half an hour to produce an article before people start gunning for them! I expect this individual Avicennasis is just being territorial because there really was not enough there to form any opinion at all- it is just a reaction 'new kid on the block: squash him' :)

License tagging for File:Weevil collected in Burma by Rene Malaise.jpg
editThanks for uploading File:Weevil collected in Burma by Rene Malaise.jpg. You don't seem to have indicated the license status of the image. Wikipedia uses a set of image copyright tags to indicate this information; to add a tag to the image, select the appropriate tag from this list, click on this link, then click "Edit this page" and add the tag to the image's description. If there doesn't seem to be a suitable tag, the image is probably not appropriate for use on Wikipedia.
For help in choosing the correct tag, or for any other questions, leave a message on Wikipedia:Media copyright questions. Thank you for your cooperation. --ImageTaggingBot (talk) 06:06, 15 February 2011 (UTC)
File source and copyright licensing problem with File:Pgeniculatus.jpg
editThanks for uploading File:Pgeniculatus.jpg. I noticed that the file's description page currently doesn't specify who created the content, so the copyright status is unclear. If you did not create this file yourself, you will need to specify the owner of the copyright. If you obtained it from a website, then a link to the website from which it was taken, together with a restatement of that website's terms of use of its content, is usually sufficient information. However, if the copyright holder is different from the website's publisher, their copyright should also be acknowledged.
As well as adding the source, we also need to know the terms of the license that the copyright holder has published the file under, usually done by adding a licensing tag. If you created/took the picture, audio, or video then the {{GFDL-self}} tag can be used to release it under the GFDL. If you believe the media meets the criteria at Wikipedia:Non-free content, use a tag such as {{non-free fair use in|article name}} or one of the other tags listed at Wikipedia:Image copyright tags#Fair use. See Wikipedia:Image copyright tags for the full list of copyright tags that you can use.
If you have uploaded other files, consider checking that you have specified their source and tagged them, too. You can find a list of files you have created in your upload log. Unsourced and untagged files may be deleted one week after they have been tagged, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If the file is copyrighted under a non-free license (per Wikipedia:Fair use) then the file will be deleted 48 hours after 00:35, 29 March 2011 (UTC). If the file is already gone, you can still make a request for undeletion and ask for a chance to fix the problem. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. Baseball Watcher 00:35, 29 March 2011 (UTC)
Disambiguation link notification
editHi. In List of Old Carthusians, you recently added a link to the disambiguation page Rogue Male (check to confirm | fix with Dab solver). Such links are almost always unintended, since a disambiguation page is merely a list of "Did you mean..." article titles. Read the FAQ • Join us at the DPL WikiProject.
