Photos
editHi Colin (I hope it is OK to call you that). Welcome to Wikipedia. I noticed your recent addition of photos to articles, especially the ones of memorials in the Chiswick area (e.g. your addition here). Thank you for those. I see some are photos you took yourself. Would you be able to help with requests for photos of places and objects in that area of London? I also see that Nikkimaria and Chiswick Chap have also given you useful advice in reply to your talk page posts to them. Referencing can take a while to get used to, but it is important as they have both said. If you need any more advice, please do ask. Carcharoth (talk) 12:39, 9 March 2020 (UTC)
Hi Carcharoth Wow, what a strange couple of weeks. Things have been changing almost hourly and I’ve been struggling to keep up with the changes and haven’t had time for other things, hopefully in a few weeks I will have a bit more time for my research and Wikipedia. I have been reading articles on Wikipedia for years without thinking about the rules, trying to learn all the coding and rules in a few days probably wasn’t a wise idea, I think I understand the majority of them now. The photo you picked was the only one that is not mine, I did try to upload one of the grave, but there already was one and the writing was clearer, so I used that one. I haven’t taken the time to see if there are any other photos that are needed, but if you let me know which pages need them, I’ll see what I can add, although I probably need some help and advice about placing them to be viewed on other devices. Many Thanks. Colin. Colin Potter 20 (talk) 14:42, 18 March 2020 (UTC)
- Thank you for the reply. I am similarly a bit disrupted by current events. I will try and get back to you on this, but if I forget, please do ask me again. Carcharoth (talk) 14:55, 18 March 2020 (UTC)
Placeholder statements
editHello. Just to let you know I've removed or reworded a couple of dozen sentences in Sulhamstead Estate, Chiswick where you'd put a question mark instead of a date or a name (such as The stables were demolished in ? and the warehouse that is there today was built in ?
) back in March. Wikipedia is a live encyclopedia and people are using it all the time, and this kind of placeholder formatting isn't very readable.
You can click this link to see what I've changed, if you want to go back and add the missing information later. --Lord Belbury (talk) 15:48, 14 May 2020 (UTC)
