Speedy deletion nomination of Nancy Faber

Hello, Coll.casey21. Thank you for helping to build Wikipedia-- the world's largest free content encyclopedia. I'm sorry, but  Nancy Faber has been deleted as meeting WP:CSD#G11. "This applies to pages that are exclusively promotional and would need to be fundamentally rewritten to conform with Wikipedia:NOTFORPROMOTION." These must be rewritten from scratch from "reliable, third party sources unconnected to the subject." See WP:RS.

Wikipedia:Identifying blatant advertising#Typical signs of blatant advertising contains information about content to avoid. For more information on content that may be perceived as promotional, click User:Dlohcierekim/promo. These are just rough guides. Pages can avoid all those pitfalls and still be glaringly obvious ad copy. Sometimes pages meeting WP:CSD#G11 give the appearance of an editor violating Wikipedia:Conflict of interest or WP:PAID. Please read and heed them if they apply to you. Please read Wikipedia:FAQ/Organizations.

Wikipedia is an encyclopedia-- subjects must meet notability guidelines with reliable sources that are unconnected with the subject and providing verifiable information. That generally means someone unconnected with the subject needs to have written a great deal about the subject. Please see Wikipedia:Citing sources . Template:cite has templates you can use in citing your sources. Place the template {{references}} at the bottom of the page, and references cited in the text will appear there.

Draft:Nancy Faber. When you describe a subject as you did it crosses over to promotionalism. Especially when all the sourcing is connected with the subject. Not sure what your teaching was thinking. Ok, no idea. Wikipedia is an encyclopedia. All content must be cited from reliable sources that are unconnected with the subject and have a reputation for fact checking. The only reason I restored is I saw the Wikiedu edit summary and realized the intent was probably not promotional.-- Dlohcierekim (talk) 17:31, 13 November 2018 (UTC)

• Thanks for the ping! Coll.casey21, I agree that the article is very promotional. Here are some notes:

1. Phrases and words like "the leading" or "highly respected" are seen as promotional buzzwords, as they're often used to promote the person or topic at hand. They're also highly subjective to the reader. One may agree with them, while another would strongly disagree. Avoid using them in articles unless you're using and attributing a quote from a reliable source.
2. Use quotes sparingly and only when you cannot re-write it in your own words. Sometimes they can be useful but in situations like this they can also make an article seem more promotional.
3. This needs more non-primary sources to establish notability. Also, read primary sources with a grain of salt, as they are going to talk about Faber in a very positive light. I am not saying that they would outright lie, but it is common for people to "puff up" claims to seem more major than they otherwise are.
