Hello, Colleen mccann, and welcome to Wikipedia! My name is Ian and I work with the Wiki Education Foundation; I help support students who are editing as part of a class assignment.

I hope you enjoy editing here. If you haven't already done so, please check out the student training library, which introduces you to editing and Wikipedia's core principles. You may also want to check out the Teahouse, a community of Wikipedia editors dedicated to helping new users. Below are some resources to help you get started editing.

Welcome, Colleen mccann! You are definitely being bold in your choice of articles. E-cigarettes and similar are controversial topics on Wikipedia, and there can be conflict, as I expect you've noticed. I hope you will not find it too off-putting. It's really easy to overestimate hostility on a text-only communications channel, and stuff sometimes escalates. At first, too, it's far too easy for a newcomer to get overwhelmed by the piles of policies pointed out in any conflict (or lack thereof), and too many quit. I hope you stick it out through the culture shock. We need more editors, especially editors who can be courteous and scholarly under any circumstances. The Wikipedia community welcomes you (even when it may not feel that way). If you need anything, please let me know; a message on my talk page may be faster than a WP:ping.
