Hello, I'm Uncle Milty. An edit that you recently made to List of people from Midland, Texas seemed to be a test and has been removed. If you want more practice editing, please use the sandbox. If you think I made a mistake, or if you have any questions, you can leave me a message on my talk page. Thanks! | Uncle Milty | talk | 19:42, 23 November 2015 (UTC)

I'm sorry for confusing the issue with an accidental redlink. Colonies Chris (talk) 09:33, 24 November 2015 (UTC)

Piping of categories

Hi, I was wondering if there was a purpose to you piping the links in categories, for example in this edit. On my display, adding that extra text has not altered how the categories are displayed at the bottom of the page. Since you have done it to many pages with no apparent effect on how things are displayed (to me anyway), I was curious as to whether there was some other purpose to it. Regards, AtHomeIn神戸 (talk) 01:49, 25 November 2015 (UTC)

Hi Athomeinkobe: It doesn't affect how the article page is displayed, but it does affect how the articles is alphabetised in the Category listing. The piping forces it to be alphabetised under the main part of its title (in the example, Culture) rather than the less important part (List of ...). Within a category which consists entirely of lists, leaving the category unpiped results in every member alphabetising under L. Colonies Chris (talk) 09:10, 25 November 2015 (UTC)
Thank you very much for the explanation, that makes perfect sense. It seemed like such a waste of effort, but I thought there had to be a reason for doing it. I'm glad I asked and I'll try to remember that for the future. Cheers! AtHomeIn神戸 (talk) 13:27, 25 November 2015 (UTC)

Hi. Thank you for your recent edits. Wikipedia appreciates your help. We noticed though that when you edited Black Sox Scandal, you added a link pointing to the disambiguation page George Frazier (baseball). Such links are almost always unintended, since a disambiguation page is merely a list of "Did you mean..." article titles. Read the FAQ • Join us at the DPL WikiProject.
