Hi. Before inserting your material into eBay again, please familiarize yourself with Wikipedia's policies regarding verifiability, neutral point of view, and original research. It is important to cite your sources; you can't just insert statements as factual (even statements of the opinions of "some") without backing it up with sources. It might seem obvious to you from reading discussion boards that XYZ is true; but you don't get to claim XYZ is true an article; rather, the most you can do is say "reputable source ABC says XYZ is true". I suggest you take your proposed insertion to the talk page and get some feedback from the other editors. --jpgordon∇∆∇∆ 02:02, 3 April 2006 (UTC)Reply

How ought I to alter my proposed contribution to the eBay page, so to have it be used by Wikipedia? Thanks.

Thanks for your help, JPGordon. I appreciate that you didn't just delete my contribution, but took the time to tell me why you did so (honestly, I didn't know where I had erred until you sent me the message) and helped me find a way to make my contribution more appropriate. Take care.

License tagging for Image:Amitabhbachchan.jpg

edit

Thanks for uploading Image:Amitabhbachchan.jpg. Wikipedia gets hundreds of images uploaded every day, and in order to verify that the images can be legally used on Wikipedia, the source and copyright status must be indicated. Images need to have an image tag applied to the image description page indicating the copyright status of the image. This uniform and easy-to-understand method of indicating the license status allows potential re-users of the images to know what they are allowed to do with the images.

For more information on using images, see the following pages:

I've asked other editors to take a look. I am upset by what you're doing, but I'm tired and short-tempered tonight, and don't think it would be wise to edit. See the talk page for the article. Zora 08:55, 25 April 2006 (UTC)Reply

Hello, you have tagged this image with {{PD-ineligible}}. However, it is clear that this tag is not proper. It could be used for say, simple chemical structural formulas, but not for photos! Please read Wikipedia:Copyrights and Wikipedia:Image copyright tags. If no proper license will be added in seven days, the image will be re-tagged with {{no source}} and deleted. Please ask on my talk page if you have any questions. Renata 04:55, 13 May 2006 (UTC)Reply

It's a shot from a press event for a film. I'm not sure what I ought to declare it as.

If you think a citation should be added use

{{fact}}

, bots tag pages having multiple citation requests and it may lead some editors from related projects to search for citations. Nice work on the Bachchan article so far, cheers Dmanning 17:56, 24 January 2007 (UTC)Reply

Your copyediting

edit

Commando, your rewrite of the Rajesh Khanna article was not an improvement. Many of your sentences were ungrammatical, fragmentary, or unnecessarily verbose. You included a strange unreferenced claim as to the film that marked the end of Khanna's superstardom and the beginning of Amitabh's ascent.

I don't want to discourage you from working on WP -- there's so much work to do on film articles. But it would be better if, instead of rewriting existing articles that are already passable, you worked on articles for films and actors/actresses who aren't well-covered. If there's nothing in WP, just about anything (as long as it isn't libel or slander) is an improvement. When you rewrite passable articles and make them worse, you are making work for everyone else. If you're not an admin ...

edit

If you're not an admin, you can't remove semi-protection. All you did was remove the notice, which is not a good idea if the article is still semi-protected. I will restore the notice.

As for removing semi-protection -- we still have a Jatinram problem. He's an over-the-top Khanna fan and determined to restore his hideous fan-gush prose. He was editing from various anonIPs for a while, which is why we have the semi-protection. Now he's editing as ID Khan. Several difficult editors have discovered that they can munge semi-protected articles if they create socks and let them age for four days.

So the semi-protection isn't stopping him, but it might be slowing him down -- and it does keep him from breaking 3RR with impunity, by using anonIPs. Zora 05:06, 10 February 2007 (UTC)Reply

Please do not remove photos unless you know what you are doing

edit

The HQ photo in Advanced Micro Devices does not cause any layout problems unless you are using a really ancient computer with a really small screen (VGA 640x480 or smaller). In that case you should consider an upgrade. Most computers today have 1280x1024 resolution. My computer has 1440x960 resolution (yes, I have a widescreen).

Also, the photo is clearly relevant. If you have a problem with its relevance, raise it on the article's talk page first and wait a few days before deleting anything. If you have a problem with the layout, move pictures around, don't delete them. Otherwise you will really irritate other Wikipedia editors who went out of their way to get good-quality photos related to important subjects. --Coolcaesar 07:00, 27 July 2007 (UTC)Reply

Sorry. My computer's actually not very ancient (resolution: 800X600), but the image was blocking some of the table of contents. In the future, I'll try to just move an image if I find that it's in the way. Thanks.

Speedy deletion of Avakar

A tag has been placed on Avakar, requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia per CSD G11.

Under the criteria for speedy deletion, articles that do not meet basic Wikipedia criteria may be deleted at any time. Series finale

edit

Welcome to Wikipedia. It might not have been your intention, but your recent edit removed content from Series finale. When removing text, please specify a reason in the edit summary and discuss edits that are likely to be controversial on the article's talk page. If this was a mistake, don't worry; the text has been restored, as you can see from the page history. Take a look at the welcome page to learn more about contributing to this encyclopedia, and if you would like to experiment, please use the sandbox. Thank you. The shows that you removed were from your own personal dislike, but they have been written up as noteworthy for a reason. For example, I don't like The Fresh Prince of Bel Air. However, the final episode was indeed noteworthy as the show paid homage to and honored its predecessors (Diff'rent Strokes, The Jeffersons), and has been discussed in the press as so. Speedy deletion nomination of NBEO

edit

If this is the first article that you have created, you may want to read the guide to writing your first article.

You may want to consider using the Article Wizard to help you create articles.

A tag has been placed on NBEO, requesting that it be deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under two or more of the criteria for speedy deletion, by which articles can be deleted at any time, without discussion. If the page meets any of these strictly-defined criteria, then it may be soon be deleted by an administrator. The reasons it has been tagged are:

  • It is a very short article providing little or no context to the reader. (See section A1 of the criteria for speedy deletion.) Wikipedia has standards for the minimum necessary information to be included in short articles; you can see these at Wikipedia:Stub. Also please note that articles must be on notable subjects and should provide references to reliable sources that verify their content.
  • It is an article with no content whatsoever, or whose contents consist only of external links, a "See also" section, book references, category tags, template tags, interwiki links, a rephrasing of the title, or an attempt to contact the subject of the article. (See section A3 of the criteria for speedy deletion.) Wikipedia has standards for the minimum necessary information to be included in short articles; you can see these at Wikipedia:Stub. Also please note that articles must be on notable subjects and should provide references to reliable sources that verify their content.

If you think this page should not be deleted for this reason, you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Click here to contest this speedy deletion". This will give you the opportunity to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. However, be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be removed without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag from the page yourself, but do not hesitate to add information in line with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. If the page is deleted, and you wish to retrieve the deleted material for future reference or improvement, you can place a request here. MrScorch6200 (talk) 15:03, 19 August 2013 (UTC)Reply
