Committeeof100
March 2024
editHello, Committeeof100. We welcome your contributions, but if you have an external relationship with the people, places or things you have written about on the page Committee of 100 (United States), you may have a conflict of interest (COI). Editors with a conflict of interest may be unduly influenced by their connection to the topic. See the conflict of interest guideline and FAQ for article subjects for more information. We ask that you:
- avoid editing or creating articles about yourself, your family, friends, colleagues, company, organization, clients, or competitors;
- propose changes on the talk pages of affected articles (you can use the {{edit COI}} template);
- disclose your conflict of interest when discussing affected articles (see Wikipedia:Conflict of interest § How to disclose a COI);
- avoid linking to your organization's website in other articles (see Wikipedia:Spam § External link spamming);
- do your best to comply with Wikipedia's content policies.
In addition, you are required by the Wikimedia Foundation's terms of use to disclose your employer, client, and affiliation with respect to any contribution which forms all or part of work for which you receive, or expect to receive, compensation. See Wikipedia:Paid-contribution disclosure.
Also, editing for the purpose of advertising, publicising, or promoting anyone or anything is not permitted. Thank you. Shadow311 (talk) 16:07, 13 March 2024 (UTC)
- Shadow311, thanks. I am the Sr. Director of Marketing & Communications for Committee of 100. There was inaccurate/false information about Committee of 100 that needed to be deleted. The information posted would expand on the fear and xenophobia that Chinese Americans face. Committeeof100 (talk) 16:10, 13 March 2024 (UTC)
As previously advised, your edits, such as the edit you made to Committee of 100 (United States), give the impression you have a financial stake in promoting a topic, but you have not complied with Wikipedia's mandatory paid editing disclosure requirements. You were asked to cease editing until you responded by either stating that you are not being directly or indirectly compensated for your edits, or by complying with the mandatory requirements under the Wikimedia Terms of Use that you disclose your employer, client and affiliation. Again, you can post such a disclosure on your user page at User:Committeeof100, and the template {{Paid}} can be used for this purpose – e.g. in the form: {{paid|user=Committeeof100|employer=InsertName|client=InsertName}}
. Please respond before making any other edits to Wikipedia. SlightlyToastedCheesecake (talk) 16:14, 13 March 2024 (UTC)

- Hello C. Fred - thank you. I have made the request to change the user name to a person and not the name of the organization, per WP guidelines. I am awaiting a response. Committeeof100 (talk) 16:30, 13 March 2024 (UTC)

Speedy deletion nomination of User:Committeeof100
editIf this is the first article that you have created, you may want to read the guide to writing your first article.
You may want to consider using the Article Wizard to help you create articles.
A tag has been placed on User:Committeeof100, requesting that it be deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under two or more of the criteria for speedy deletion, by which pages can be deleted at any time, without discussion. If the page meets any of these strictly defined criteria, then it may soon be deleted by an administrator. The reasons it has been tagged are:
- It seems to be unambiguous advertising which only promotes a company, product, group, service, person, or point of view and would need to be fundamentally rewritten in order to become encyclopedic. (See section G11 of the criteria for speedy deletion.) Please read the guidelines on spam and Wikipedia:FAQ/Organizations for more information.
- It appears to consist of writings, information, discussions, and/or activities not closely related to Wikipedia's goals. Please note that Wikipedia is not a free Web hosting service. (See section U5 of the criteria for speedy deletion.)
If you think this page should not be deleted for this reason, you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Contest this speedy deletion". This will give you the opportunity to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. However, be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag from the page yourself, but do not hesitate to add information in line with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. If the page is deleted, and you wish to retrieve the deleted material for future reference or improvement, then please contact the deleting administrator, or if you have already done so, you can place a request here. kleshkreikne. - Change your username here, by using the
{{unblock-un|New username|Reason}}
text, sign up for a new account or on Special:GlobalRenameRequest. Your username can’t be a company. It has to be your own kleshkreikne. T 17:21, 13 March 2024 (UTC)- I already submitted a username request. Committeeof100 (talk) 17:25, 13 March 2024 (UTC)
- Don't lie to me. Apparently your new username is still against policy. You can only have username that show that you're a human, not a company. Now change it again for me. kleshkreikne. T 17:29, 13 March 2024 (UTC)

- You’ll have to read Wikipedia’s policies first. Wikipedia’s an encyclopedia, not a place where you want to advertise and make money out of your business. In Wikipedia you can only have a username that shows that you’re a person, not a group. kleshkreikne. T 17:50, 13 March 2024 (UTC)
- Thanks. That's why I submitted as a name, not as a group (name change) and we are not trying to advertise or make money. We are at 501c3 nonprofit. Committeeof100 (talk) 18:13, 13 March 2024 (UTC)
- I’m so sorry that I hurt you but rules are the rules. This is what Wikipedia is. kleshkreikne. T 17:51, 13 March 2024 (UTC)

editIf you intend to make useful contributions instead of promoting your business or organization, you may request unblock and a username change. In your reasons, you must:
- Disclose any compensation you may receive for your contributions in accordance with the paid-contribution disclosure requirement; and
- Convince us that you understand the reason for your block and that you will not repeat the kind of edits for which you were blocked; and
- Describe in general terms the contributions that you intend to make if you are unblocked; and
- Provide a new username.
To do this, post the text {{unblock-spamun|Your proposed new username|Your reason here}}
at the bottom of your talk page. Replace the text "Your proposed new username" with your new username and replace the text "Your reason here" with your reasons to be unblocked.
Please note that the new username you choose cannot already be taken and in use by another account. You can go here to search and see if the username you'd like to choose is available. If the search returns that no global account with that username exists, that means it is available to be taken.
Appeals: If, after reviewing the guide to appealing blocks, you believe this block was made in error, you may appeal it by adding the text{{unblock|reason=Your reason here ~~~~}}
at the bottom of your talk page. Replace the text "Your reason here" with the reasons you believe the block was an error, and publish the page. Justlettersandnumbers (talk) 19:08, 13 March 2024 (UTC)- Committeeof100, where did you request a change of username? – I'm not seeing it in your global contributions.
