The article The Shpeelers has been speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This was done because the article seemed to be about a person, group of people, band, club, company, or web content, but it did not indicate how or why the subject is notable, that is, why an article about that subject should be included in Wikipedia. Under the criteria for speedy deletion, articles that do not assert notability may be deleted at any time. If you can indicate why the subject is really notable, you are free to re-create the article, making sure to cite any verifiable sources.
Please see the guidelines for what is generally accepted as notable, and for specific types of articles, you may want to check out our criteria for biographies, for web sites, for musicians, or for companies. Feel free to leave a note on my talk page if you have any questions about this. NawlinWiki (talk) 02:41, 29 November 2007 (UTC)
- Hi! I read your note to Shuki and am writing to encourage you to try again. What you need to understand is that even academic experts on a topic are not allowed to enter info onto wikipedia pages on the basis of what they know (this distinguishes Wikipedia form real encyclopedias where academic experts are paid to do exactly that). In wikipedia, everything you enter needs a footnote, and the footnote has to be to a reputable published source, like a newspaper article or book. also, when citing a source like a shul web page, you need to reqrite and not simply copy the material. It is fine to use some material from the shul page, but you should also try to find published sources. Do try again. it would be great to have more info on Wikipedia on the history of the Jewish community in Toronto.Elan26 (talk) 18:15, 2 June 2008 (UTC)Elan26
- Thanks! I didn't realize this was here until now. In fact, the Shpeelers weren't really noteable and have essentially disbanded, although they did play quite a few charitable concerts for about a decade. Thanks for posting. - The Shpeelers were very short-lived and no longer perform. They weren't very representative of the Jewish community in Toronto, so I'm not going to put this back, but thank you for all your ideas.Computermorah (talk) 04:15, 27 October 2016 (UTC)
