Speedy deletion nomination of ALI OROKZAI

edit

If this is the first article that you have created, you may want to read the guide to writing your first article.

You may want to consider using the Article Wizard to help you create articles.

A tag has been placed on ALI OROKZAI requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section A7 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the article appears to be about a person or group of people, but it does not indicate how or why the subject is important or significant: that is, why an article about that subject should be included in an encyclopedia. Under the criteria for speedy deletion, such articles may be deleted at any time. Please read more about what is generally accepted as notable.

If you think this page should not be deleted for this reason, you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Click here to contest this speedy deletion". This will give you the opportunity to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. However, be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be removed without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag from the page yourself, but do not hesitate to add information in line with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. If the page is deleted, and you wish to retrieve the deleted material for future reference or improvement, then please contact the deleting administrator, or if you have already done so, you can place a request here. Promotion on Wikipedia

edit

I've deleted the page and I'd like to ask that you not re-create the article on Wikipedia. It looks like there have been prior attempts to create the page at Ali Orokzai, so many that the page was salted to prevent re-creation. I've deleted the article you've made because it was a copyright violation and because it was so unambiguously promotional that it violated WP:PROMO. It also doesn't help that I can find nothing to show that he is ultimately notable enough to warrant a page on Wikipedia. In the article's talk page you claimed that he has received coverage, but the coverage you've linked to appear to be self-published blogs, podcasts, and the like. Places like Afghan Voice are unusable because it's ultimately run by volunteers, meaning that anyone can join and upload a podcast. The thing is, simply existing in a role does not give notability and you can only show coverage through independent and reliable sources per WP:RS. You also claimed that he's won an award, but I can find no record of him winning anything that would be considered a notable award per Wikipedia's guidelines. Like existing as a performer/creator, winning an award does not guarantee notability and less than 1-2% of any award ever given (sports, film, books, etc) count towards notability on Wikipedia.

I'd like to ask that you not re-create this article on Wikipedia for the time being until you can provide coverage in sources that pass notability guidelines. You can contest this at deletion review, but you will need to provide very, very reliable sources to show notability. Tokyogirl79 (。◕‿◕。) 07:20, 5 February 2015 (UTC)Reply
