Amanda Donohoe

Firstly, please remember to be civil when posting on talk pages. Secondly, you are right. Wikipedia is about updating pages so people can have as much information about a person as possible, but there are rules. [WP:BLP|This essay on biographies of living people]] might help you understand more readily how to approach this. But just to give you a nudge in the right direction, because the information you added could be considered to be controversial then it needs to be supported by reliable sources. Your knowledge of Amanda Donohoe can help, but (especially for controversial statements) it should be verifiable from a third party source. It's a bit like journalism and academic research where the same kind of principle applies. To produce a quality piece of work you have to source as much of it as is possible. Hope this helps and let me know if I can do anything else. Cheers TheRetroGuy (talk) 12:01, 23 July 2011 (UTC)Reply

No worries. I know it can be frustrating, but I don't make the rules. Interestingly, if you did write an official biography of her, that could be used as a reference. But there must be lots of correct stuff about her in the media that you could add and reference. I've seen interviews she's done with newspapers and magazines in the past, and I guess they're pretty accurate. Journalists get a bad press sometimes, but good reporters do try to get their facts right. Surely she must have discussed her politics in an interview? Why not take a look through the Google News archives, as they're always useful for finding bits and pieces of information. To upload a picture, I think you need to have made ten edits and/or been registered as a user for four days, so you're half way there. What's useful here is if you own the copyright to a picture of her which you could upload. There was one of her from about 20 years ago, but someone removed it. Not sure why. Anyway, take a look at WP:UPLOAD for info on how to upload an image. Best of luck. TheRetroGuy (talk) 15:21, 23 July 2011 (UTC)Reply
