AFD for Clann Credo

Kim eng holdings ltd

hi

This is regarding the article on [Wikipedia_talk:Articles_for_creation/Kim_Eng_Holdings_Limited]

I don't understand why you want to reject my article..

I have the following questions: 1) What do u mean by this company is not notable. This is a more than 30 years old company, present in around 10 countries and one of the most well-known (not to mention top) stock brokers in Singapore. It is a listed company.

2) Which part of the article lacks sources? I have already given sources for mergers and acquisitions part. The whole article is just facts and figures about this company.

3) Can i have a live chat with you or something?

Also, how come you guys don't ask the following people for sources? They have jus listed down their corporate website. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/OCBC

I have listed down sources. What's wrong with them? How did u conclude they aren't third party, reliable sources.

Please help me understand the above issues. Help me understand how I can publish this page. I want to resolve all issues you had with the article because of which you want to reject it.

Thanks in advance for your help —Preceding unsigned comment added by 203.208.248.107 (talk) 06:25, 4 December 2009 (UTC)

"The whole article is just facts and figures about this company." Right there, I'm afraid, is the problem. You need reliable, independent sources that cover the company. The policy is at Wikipedia:V#Reliable_sources.. Thanks for your contributions! Courcelles (talk) 10:59, 4 December 2009 (UTC)

Hi Courcelles
I have removed all figures. And my list of sources consists of sources from Reuters, Business Times, Bloomberg, Forbes, Japan times etc. I really hope that suffices. Please let me know. Waiting for your reply. Thanks for your help. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 203.208.248.107 (talk) 01:45, 7 December 2009 (UTC)

Afd Attacks

That user has been doing it to me since I nom'd the article, and to some of the !voters since he found the AfD. Shadowjams (talk) 10:39, 4 December 2009 (UTC)

Honestly, I'm hoping- and assuming good faith here that a quick request to stop will end it. Courcelles (talk) 10:45, 4 December 2009 (UTC)
I hope so. It's probably better to ignore and let the attention fade. Shadowjams (talk) 11:07, 4 December 2009 (UTC)

'Twas not an attack, 'twas a comment. I did, in fact, sincerely mean what I said. I guess a disturbing smile will make it up to you. Jonny4026 (talk) 11:24, 4 December 2009 (UTC)

George G. Wortman

The article looks great! Have you considered nominating it for DYK?

P.S. I think the IP who requested the article is the same who requested Hermann Ziegner and John P. Yount. It seems they are working backwards through the Indian Wars recipients. — jwillbur 02:53, 7 December 2009 (UTC)

It does look great, but I didn't write it. It came through WP:WPAFC and I just put it through with one or two cosmetic changes. Though, a DYK nom? If I can find a hook, I'll nominate it. Courcelles (talk) 03:04, 7 December 2009 (UTC)
I don't really do much editing anymore but since you requested it I added a couple things to the article. It didn't really need much though, good job. --Kumioko (talk) 16:28, 7 December 2009 (UTC)

DYK nomination of John F. Auer

Hello! Your submission of John F. Auer at the Did You Know nominations page has been reviewed, and there still are some issues that may need to be clarified. Please review the comment(s) underneath your nomination's entry and respond there as soon as possible. Thank you for contributing to Did You Know! LargoLarry (talk) 16:42, 7 December 2009 (UTC)

F29

Now we have something. I created the F29 article for you. I pointed the F.29 redirect to the Fokker plane, because it seems to me the period is quite distinctive- should you disagree, since the page is in article space now, you have freedom to point it elsewhere.

Are there any other redirects you would like created? You can either ask me (just reply on this page), and I'll do them if I agree, or you can register an account and have the full ability to create new pages yourself. Either way, welcome to Wikipedia! Courcelles (talk) 08:42, 8 December 2009 (UTC)

Well, there's the ones I listed at the AfC... F-29 and F 29 - since various people spell things in various ways, and this is how the other dab pages are built (with redirects from the other forms) - as for periods being distinctive, I've noticed that British people replace the dashes with dots and Americans replace dots with dashes, and other people replace both with spaces. This is probably because British planes use dots and American planes use dashes, and some other countries use spaces, for their own planes (ie. F-15 Eagle (US), GR.3 Harrier (UK), Me 263 Schwalbe (Germany) )76.66.192.35 (talk) 08:46, 8 December 2009 (UTC)

F**k the Facts deletion

You can go ahead and delete that FTF article I created, it is probably too early, I just got all excited :D I will keep an eye on the album development and, when there is more substantial information I will post it up then. Cheers! Ibanez Guy (talk) 11:37, 10 December 2009 (UTC)

No worries at all- I understand excitement all too well! I can't delete it, if you want, you can always tag it for CSD under G7. However, what about moving it into your user space, and when more information is available, moving it back into mainspace so you won't have to start completely over? Courcelles (talk) 11:40, 10 December 2009 (UTC)

Your rollback request

Hello Courcelles, I have granted rollback rights to your account in accordance with your request. Please be aware that rollback should be used to revert vandalism/spam/blatantly unconstructive edits, and that using it to revert anything else (by revert-warring or reverting edits you disagree with) can lead to it being removed from your account...sometimes without any warning, depending on the admin who becomes aware of any misuse. For practice, you may wish to see Wikipedia:New admin school/Rollback. Good luck. Acalamari 23:39, 10 December 2009 (UTC)

Its not vandalism at all - the page is in dire need of a cleanup and overhaul and thats what i did. How can anyone possibly justify the way it was??? 92.10.173.136 (talk) 16:22, 15 December 2009 (UTC)

Thanks for the revert, although this user doesn't agree, and does see it as vandalism and has threatend to block me 92.10.173.136 (talk) 00:18, 16 December 2009 (UTC)
Well, I can't say anything I didn't say on your talk page earlier. Your edits were very easily mistaken for vandalism, even though under a more careful examination, I changed my mind. Anyway, you can't be blocked without three things happening from this point: 1) Someone giving you a level 4 warning; 2) Someone believing you have made another vandalism edit after that, and 3) an Admin agreeing with those assessments. Have you considered registering an account? A lot of things are easier on Wikipedia with a username, see here for why it is a good idea. Courcelles (talk) 01:12, 16 December 2009 (UTC)

I reverted your edit because you blanked the page, which is considered a form of vandalism on Wikipedia. If you wish to write an article on a subject that is currently a redirect, you need to either do it all in one edit, or explain what you are doing in your edit summary when you remove the redirect. Courcelles. Your recent revert has been changed back due to the fact that the deletion was due to the fact that it did not discuss the top but rather ranted and accused other editors and should have been put in the editor talk box rather than the article talk. Sorry for your misunderstanding.

IP editor deleting references to Sabbatai Zevi

Hello, I'm very far from being any expert in the field, and hold no religious opinions on the subject, but as a casual and accidental follower of the articles on History of the Jews of Thessaloniki and History of the Jews in Greece, I've had to revert several outright blankings of sections referring to Sabbatai Zevi's time in (Thes)Salonica from a changing series of anonymous IP addresses in the range of 88.220 to 88.239 (See the revision histories for those articles). The editor from those addresses has apparently been attacking Donmeh, and who knows what else, as well. Unfortunately, he or she doesn't have enough courage of his or her convictions (or perhaps enough command of English) to give any reason or explanation on the talk pages to other editors, instead switching to another IP address to delete again.

I nominated the two Greek Jewish history articles for Wikipedia:semi-protection over the weekend and was declined on account of insufficient vandalism to justify excluding other unregistered (IP) editors, with the invitation to renominate them if the problem persists. I've also left warnings on the User talk pages, but this has had no apparent effect, and doesn't seem likely to, if the editor's just switched to another IP. These seem to be WP:single-purpose accounts, with no purpose other than to expunge references to Zevi, his movement and his beliefs from Wikipedia in a manner reminiscent of Winston Smith's job in 1984. But clearly Sabbatai Zevi, for good or for bad, is not an unperson by Wikipedia standards. As I was writing, the IP struck again.

Feel free to transfer this to Talk:Donmeh, but now that I see from your User talk page that your interest, like mine, comes as much from wanting to fight censorship by vandalism as from the underlying content of the page, this may be the best place for my comments. Best wishes of the season. —— Shakescene (talk) 22:59, 21 December 2009 (UTC)

Well, I've noticed a couple things, but only took a single action. There was one IP who had blanked a section and never recieved a warning for it, so I left him a reminder about deleting content. I'm not an admin, but I'm not sure I would have protected these pages under these circumstances, either, as none of the IP's had done enough on one record to get blocked. I've got a couple of ideas for you- more about vandalism in general than this specific incident:

1) Fighting vandalism is much easier with the rollback user permission. You can ask an admin for it here.

2) Use a tool, like WP:TWINKLE or WP:HUGGLE (which only works after getting rollback), to revert vandalism- and warn the vandals using the proper templates. Twinkle is a sniper rifle that works in Mozilla Firefox, while Huggle almost forces you to browse all of Wikipedia. Using the correct templates is very important, as a vandal cannot be reported to WP:AIV until vandalism occurs after the level 4 warning.

3)Most importantly? Don't ever let a vandal or opposing editor get to you. I'm not sure edit summaries like "Don't rewrite distasteful history; explain or you'll be banned!!!" [2] are ever really necessary.

Finally? This case would likely have been a better candidate for a place like WP:AN/I to get the eyes of the community and admins on the issue. It's never a bad idea to get more ideas on a situation; especally since the issue if someone is abusing multiple accounts or IP's isn't one that can be made alone.

Thanks for bringing this all to my attention, though. I'll keep the pages on my watchlist for a while. Courcelles (talk) 23:44, 21 December 2009 (UTC)

There is absolutely a way to stop it. Register an account. When editing without being logged in, you will get messages meant for anyone who used your IP address, whereas an account will be unique to you. Courcelles (talk) 20:08, 22 December 2009 (UTC)

dear james

I do not see how my last edit is considered vandalism. Are you insinuating that pescaterians do in fact eat dinosaurs?

Um, yes. Dinosaurs are extinct, and have been for millions of years. They are no longer possible to eat. Courcelles (talk) 21:26, 23 December 2009 (UTC)
Right so therefore pescaterians do not eat them. Am I missing something here? Because adding dinosaurs to the list of things pescatirians do not eat is making complete sense to me.Cheeselor19 (talk) 21:31, 23 December 2009 (UTC)
Um, I could also say they don't eat Boeing 777's, baby Chihuahuas, or the Andromeda Galaxy. Each would make the exact same amount of sense adding dinosaurs does. Absolute accuracy does not equal relevance. Courcelles (talk) 21:34, 23 December 2009 (UTC)

Earwig, I've been looking, and I couldn't find any sources beyond what the submitter listed, so I went ahead and declined it. The complete lack of sources for someone who held three ambassadorships truly surprised me. Courcelles (talk) 05:27, 28 December 2009 (UTC)

Re: Prep 2- check my work?

Overall the update looks good. There is a nice diversity of topics and a good funny/quirky hook in the last slot. Additionally the image is visually different from others currently scheduled in the queue (a long series of red brick buildings or portraits of dead white men gets boring). The one thing I would have done differently is including a third biography article in the mix. The reason for this is there are a large percentage of biography hooks currently at Template talk:Did you know and going light on two or three updates in a row will result in a glut of biographies in the following updates. --Allen3 talk 16:54, 28 December 2009 (UTC)
