Thanks for the welcome
editHi HJ,
Thanks for the welcome! I am new here and will strive to make edits properly. Hence, I'll probably be slow in diving in. However, I am here to ask your opinion. Since you removed and reinstated the external link I added to the Maine Coon page, it has once again been removed! (by someone else)
There was a note about fansites. I've spent the last few days researching that. Now, I don't want to make waves, but after careful consideration, I'm quite certain this site does not fall under the category of fansites, after reviewing the definition. It doesn't seem that the editor who labeled it a fan site took sufficient time to research it.
That link, in my opinion, provides a valuable resource to any visitor interested in Maine Coons. The website is brimming with breed-specific information, (characteristics, history, physical description etc.) links to breed clubs, rescue organizations, and other sites, and many articles on the grooming, caring and keeping of these cats as pets. Every topic on the Wikipedia page is elaborated on in great detail on this site, which is a guide to Maine Coon Cats. After seeing similar links on other breed pages, it seemed an appropriate fit.
I genuinely only want what's best for the page, and to add value to it for visitors. Linking to a particular page on the site didn't seem appropriate, as the entire site is targeted at every aspect of the Maine Coon cat.
If I should have taken this elsewhere, I apologize. Could you advise? Thank you so much for any help!Cprofenno (talk) 17:46, 16 July 2010 (UTC)
- Hey! Glad to see you want to stick around and muck in! There's always something that needs doing around here and we need all the help we can get! :) I'm not entirely sure if the link should be there, but your adding it certainly wasn't improper, which is why I struck out the above and reverted my removal of it. If you think it belongs there, start a new section on Talk:Maine Coon and state why you think the link should be there. Hopefully then there'll be a bit of a discussion on whether or not to include it. Let me know if there's anything else I can help with- just ping my talk page (or my alternate talk page if you can't post on the main one).
