Hello Craig, and thanks for the articles you started on Stella Turk and Frank Turk. Those are very nice additions. I am a member of WikiProject Gastropods and WikiProject Bivalves, so Stella Turk is rather important to me. Although I now live in NYC, I spent the first half of my life in the UK, and was a member of the Conchological Society so I heard a lot about Ms Turk although I did not have the pleasure of meeting her. In any case, thanks for your work. If you have any questions or comments on any aspect of Wikipedia feel free to contact me on my talk page. All the best, Invertzoo (talk) 01:02, 23 November 2013 (UTC)Reply

How about Arthur Erskine Ellis?

edit

I wondered Craig if you have any interest in starting an article on Arthur Erskine Ellis, 1902 to 1983? There is a good solid obituary (written by Ellis himself!) on this page. He was a very major figure in British malacology. If you would rather not, let me know because I might start it instead, if I have the time. Best wishes, Invertzoo (talk) 14:25, 7 January 2014 (UTC)Reply

Might be hard pressed to find time. I just started a content writing job, so I look at a screen all day and also have a couple of hours travel. Not a lot of fun!

Sorry to hear you are so busy, but thanks for everything you did here so far. Hope to see you again when and if things calm down a bit for you, All the best wishes to you, Invertzoo (talk) 01:40, 24 January 2014 (UTC)Reply

Update: I started Arthur Erskine Ellis. Of course it needs more work but is OK as a beginning. Invertzoo (talk) 21:39, 25 January 2014 (UTC)Reply

I'm having a bit of a mare here, [1] hopefully just sorting out the further reading into sources will suffice. Craig.chamberlain11 (talk) 11:21, 30 January 2014 (UTC)Reply

What a huge bibliography - busy man. Nice clear work. Craig.chamberlain11 (talk) 12:26, 30 January 2014 (UTC)Reply

Re: Peter Liddle

Some photos would be good. If you have a photo of the artist, that would be the first priority. After that, if we could get maybe one photo of maybe his most famous work, that would help as well. You'd have to get his permission to take any of his photos, but if you live in an area where someone is displaying his work, you can go and take a photo of the artwork. It'd be of his art but it'd be your photo, if that makes any sense. As far as the sources go- you wouldn't happen to have links to any of the articles, would you? That way we can see what you're pulling from. Tokyogirl79 (。◕‿◕。) 13:17, 30 January 2014 (UTC)Reply

I do have jpgs of all the articles I quoted but I'll have to contact the publisher to ensure they don't mind the text being available on-line. I'll send an email to the magazines now. Craig.chamberlain11 (talk) 14:13, 30 January 2014 (UTC)Reply

Reference your article for creation Wikipedia talk:Articles for creation/Peter Liddle (artist) the lead section needs to establish his notability. Why is he notable? Your statement "He has exhibited nationally and internationally and his work is held in public collection" is NOT supported by the references given? Where has he exhibited and which public collections is he in? This might help with getting the article accepted. Theroadislong (talk) 17:10, 1 February 2014 (UTC)Reply

The BBC your paintings is a link to two paintings in public collection. Also the Waddington gallery exhibitions were is several Canadian locations. Craig.chamberlain11 (talk) 17:12, 1 February 2014 (UTC)Reply

Now have made citations more specific and have written out the public collections. Will work on getting a scan of international exhibition catalogue. Craig.chamberlain11 (talk) 17:38, 1 February 2014 (UTC)Reply

I'm not sure that these provide enough notability though. You need to show that the subject has received significant attention from independent sources to support a claim of notability, this might also be of help Wikipedia:ARTIST#Creative_professionals Good luck Theroadislong (talk) 17:51, 1 February 2014 (UTC)Reply

See bold? The person has created, or played a major role in co-creating, a significant or well-known work, or collective body of work, that has been the subject of an independent book or feature-length film, or of multiple independent periodical articles or reviews. The person's work (or works) either (a) has become a significant monument, (b) has been a substantial part of a significant exhibition, (c) has won significant critical attention, or (d) is represented within the permanent collections of several notable galleries or museums. Craig.chamberlain11 (talk) 17:54, 1 February 2014 (UTC)Reply

Reviewers may well wonder whether Leicestershire County Council Art Collection and the Otter Gallery, University of Chichester are considered "notable" though? Theroadislong (talk) 18:06, 1 February 2014 (UTC)Reply

Thanks for sharing your thoughts Theroadislong. I have substantially changed the order of references and wording in order to better defend against such criticism. Having prioritised, an exhibition with the Royal Academy and better detailing his coverage in the cultural press, perhaps his case stands stronger. Craig.chamberlain11 (talk) 10:52, 2 February 2014 (UTC)Reply

Hi Tokyogirl79. I have added links to the references having sought permission of the publisher. Craig.chamberlain11 (talk) 15:09, 3 February 2014 (UTC)Reply

Hi,
You appear to be eligible to vote in the current Arbitration Committee election. The Arbitration Committee is the panel of editors responsible for conducting the Wikipedia arbitration process. It has the authority to enact binding solutions for disputes between editors, primarily related to serious behavioural issues that the community has been unable to resolve. This includes the ability to impose site bans, topic bans, editing restrictions, and other measures needed to maintain our editing environment. The arbitration policy describes the Committee's roles and responsibilities in greater detail. If you wish to participate, you are welcome to review the candidates' statements and submit your choices on the voting page.
