Re:Copyright Clearance Center Wiki Page
editHi Craigsender. Although it may have not been your intent, your article, "Copyright Clearance Center", read like an advertisement. Here on Wikipedia, we have a policy in which advertising/spam is speedy deleted per deletion criterion G11. Please note that articles for deletion are judged on their own merit, not in comparison to other articles (See WP:OTHERSTUFF). You are certainly welcome to resubmit the article, but please revise the text so that it complies with the policies and guidelines noted at WP:ADS and WP:MOS; otherwise, you run the risk of having the article deleted again. Speedy deletion nomination of Copyright Clearance Center
editYou may also wish to consider using a Wizard to help you create articles. See the Article Wizard.
Thank you.
A tag has been placed on Copyright Clearance Center requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done because the article, which appears to be about a real person, individual animal(s), an organization (band, club, company, etc.), or web content, does not indicate how or why the subject is notable: that is, why an article about that subject should be included in an encyclopedia. Under the criteria for speedy deletion, articles that do not indicate the subject's importance or significance may be deleted at any time. Please see the guidelines for what is generally accepted as notable. If this is the first page that you have created, then you should read the guide to writing your first article.
If you think that you can assert the notability of the subject, you may contest the deletion by adding {{hangon}}
to the top of the article (just below the existing speedy deletion or "db" tag), coupled with adding a note on the article's talk page explaining your position, but be aware that once tagged for speedy deletion, if the article meets the criterion it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but don't hesitate to add information to the article that would confirm the subject's notability under Wikipedia guidelines.
For guidelines on specific types of articles, you may want to check out our criteria for biographies, for web sites, for bands, or for companies. Feel free to leave a note on my talk page if you have any questions about this. Blanchardb -Me•MyEars•MyMouth- timed 18:37, 5 April 2010 (UTC)
status and advice
editAs reviewing administrator, I can see the CCC is important, and an article can and should be written for it. The preset article is not really satisfactory, but it can be improved, and so I did not delete it. You needs to provide a description of the center and its history and operations, and the controversies surrounding it, You'll need to cite substantial coverage in 3rd party independent references published in reliable sources, print or online, but not blogs, nor derived from their web page or public relations--there should be no problem with this. . Without this, the article will probably be deleted. by our regular processes, so please add this immediately. DGG ( talk ) 19:12, 5 April 2010 (UTC)
CCC edits
editHi Craigsender -- I appreciate your efforts to make the CCC entry factually correct, as you term it. However, you edited sentences with cites, changing the substance of the sentence, but not changing the references, and the references don't include the information you quoted. So unfortunately I reverted your edit -- it's here to make it easy to re-capture the changes you made. Wikipedia requires that factual assertions be cited with reliable sources -- see WP:V. So please do work on changes, but please do so within the standard guidelines for citation here on Wikipedia (and elsewhere). Thanks, Lquilter (talk) 21:35, 26 August 2013 (UTC)
