Hello Crowded! Hope you're in good health. You might remember once adding information about Whitney's first album to my sandbox. Well, I was wondering if you could add the page numbers too. Thank you. Novice7 (talk) 12:50, 2 May 2011 (UTC)Reply

Hi Crowded! I'll expand those sections, but I'm afraid later. Right now I'm semi-active (busy in real life). Thanks for your help :) Novice7 (talk) 03:31, 23 May 2011 (UTC)Reply

Hey, I'll expand YGGL today :) I was wondering, did you go to Nippy's MLIYL tour? Or, NBL tour? Do you have any photos that you took? Novice7 (talk) 05:49, 27 May 2011 (UTC)Reply

Lol, I know.. I wouldn't want to miss her voice too :D As you can see, we don't have any good Whitney pictures on Wikipedia (especially tour pictures). That's why I asked you if you had any. Are you on Whitney-fan.com forums too? Novice7 (talk) 06:31, 27 May 2011 (UTC)Reply

I would like to cleanup "How Will I Know". Does the book One Moment in Time give the release date for How Will I Know? If it does, what is the date? Can you give me the page number? Thanks in advance. Novice7 (talk) 11:33, 27 May 2011 (UTC)Reply

Thanks heaps! That is what I needed. Thank you thank you thank you soooo much!!! I'll notify you about the article cleanup. I was looking through many books on G-Books and they have a lot of information regarding HWIK. I'm a bit active in W-Fan Forum... Novice7 (talk) 12:31, 27 May 2011 (UTC)Reply

Hi Crowded! I've uploaded a few pictures from the concert to commons. If possible, can you tell me the song(s) she is performing, on these pictures? I'm a bit confused. I'm sure the one(s) with the little girl is "Greatest Love of All", but the rest... Can you help? Novice7 (talk) 09:55, 4 July 2011 (UTC)Reply

Thanks, the images are free, so you can use them anywhere you want :) No restrictions. Oops, I always thought that little one was a girl. Sorry for my mistake. Thank you so much for replying Crowded. Novice7 (talk) 12:14, 4 July 2011 (UTC)Reply

Hi Crowded! Can you help me find sources/legacy of "How Will I Know"? You can paste them User:Novice7/HWIK. Thanks. Novice7 (talk) 10:15, 10 July 2011 (UTC)Reply

Thanks for the year-end charts :) Well, if possible, can you add what One Moment in Time says about HWIK (anything related to it: its music video, how the song came about, live performances etc.) to the the talk page (with page numbers). I'm going to expand it more! Your help is much appreciated. Thanks in advance. Novice7 (talk) 07:38, 24 August 2011 (UTC)Reply
I didn't know that you added the info at all :-) By the way, I have ordered some Whitney books (two, to be precise) to expand all her articles. Also, I hope you're doing well :) Novice7 (talk) 04:53, 27 August 2011 (UTC)Reply

Hi, this message is to let you know about disambiguation links you've recently created. A link to a disambiguation page is almost always unintended, since a disambiguation page is merely a list of "Did you mean..." article titles. Whitney

edit

Hey Crowded! Hope you're doing good. Thank you for cleaning Whitney articles up :) I'm so excited about the Sparkle project. Did you see the Extra!, ET and Access Hollywood interviews? Whitney looks amazing! Can't wait to hear the new songs. A question: Did any TV channel air a behind-the-scenes look at "How Will I Know"? ET or MTV? I have to expand the article because I got lots of new information. I also wish we could get a picture of Whitney performing "HWIK" on tour. Do you have any pic? Novice7 (talk) 12:33, 19 November 2011 (UTC)Reply

Also, can you complete the content from page 16 of One Moment in Time for me? Ta. Novice7 (talk) 12:43, 19 November 2011 (UTC)Reply

I love Whitney a lot and working on her articles is the least I can do as a fan :) About the picture and "HWIK", it's okay. Thanks heaps for adding the text. Novice7 (talk) 11:35, 20 November 2011 (UTC)Reply

Hey Crowded! Sorry for the late reply, I was busy in real life :) I do have the numbers from like three or four months ago, but no source :( This is the latest source I could find. But, I will search more. I will also try to find the UK sales sources. Canadian charts: I think Soundscan is preferred, if it's available. RPM can be used for 80s and early 90s, Soundscan from mid-90s onwards :) I have a book For the Record which lists the charts from Can, UK etc. I'll add that :) Take care, Novice7 (talk) 04:11, 27 November 2011 (UTC)Reply
Oh, I see. I remember seeing something like that too. I'll try and find a link for it :) As for the Canadian charts, the book has the charts of all albums and singles. It has positions for "Fine" too! And, aww, thank you :D I may edit Whitney articles, but you're the best! Novice7 (talk) 13:47, 27 November 2011 (UTC)Reply
Source for TUC UK sales :) I'm searching for others too :) Novice7 (talk) 16:18, 27 November 2011 (UTC)Reply
And, the sales figures and source from Music Week "One Million Sold Albums" :):
  • {{cite journal|last=Hue|first=Susan|title=One Million Sold Solo Albums in UK|journal=[[Music Week]]|publisher=[[UBM plc|United Business Media]]|volume=34|issue=6|pp=26–27|date=2011-04-02|issn=0265-1548}}
Whitney – 2,240,000
The Bodyguard – 2,167,000
Greatest Hits – 1,660,000
Whitney Houston – 1,255,000

Thanks to User:Legolas :) Novice7 (talk) 05:48, 28 November 2011 (UTC)Reply

You're welcome! I'm still searching for MLIYL, IYBT and TPW UK sales :) I was disappointed too. Seems like Sony inflated the sales by about 600,000 copies! Novice7 (talk) 16:07, 28 November 2011 (UTC)Reply

Whitney album

edit

Are you the one who provided the new recording period of September 1986 to February 1987? If, so may I ask why you did and how you found the information? I remember Whitney being to have premiered I Wanna Dance With Someday at a performance in August 1986. Please respond ASAP. Thanks!Carmaker1 (talk) 09:00, 7 December 2011 (UTC)Reply

Thanks for your response and the source, it helped a lot. I'm confused though as this site, under Interesting tidbits(USA), states a performance dated on August 6, 1986 in Wantagh, New York to have included a new song, "I'm Gonna Dance With Somebody", later becoming I Wanna Dance With Somebody. Then here it states in this September 1, 1986 edition of Jet magazine(second page), that she has been recently performing two new songs titled, "I Want To Dance With Somebody" and "Didn't We Almost Have It All", from her new album then scheduled for release in January 1987. I found the links on the Greatest Love World Tour Wikipedia page. I trust the word of the producer Narada Michael Walden from your source, but find myself puzzled by those links as I used them last year to list a broader recording period in 1986. For Arista to schedule an album for release in January, they likely would have started production prior to July, to be completed by November/December 1986. What do you think? Narada Michael Walden's statement is more legitimate, than the two other sources? Thanks again! Carmaker1 (talk) 00:54, 8 December 2011 (UTC)Reply

Artistry and legacy secton of the Whitney Houston article

edit

Hello, Crowded. I appreciate your enthusiasm and most of your additions to the Voice and Influence areas of this section, but I believe that there is enough there now. Any more and it will be overkill, if there isn't already a little overkill in those sections. But when adding more to those sections, you should avoid any redundancy or at least too much redundancy. People praising her voice is of course redundancy, but I mean redundancy in words. For example, you added a quote which you described in the text as "akin" to another critic's quote. If it's similar, then it likely isn't needed, unless you are trying to show that more than one person felt that way. Also, when adding quotes, if the quotes are longer than three lines, you should either break up the quote, as I did in this edit or use blockquote. Four lines are okay sometimes, however. I say this per WP:Manual of Style (it used to say something like "no more than three lines" specifically). But having three or more blockquotes in a section, or even two in a small or medium-sized section, usually is not considered good Wikipedia formatting, and there are already two in the Influence section. Because of that, and because I don't feel that there should be any more blockquotes in these sections, I decided to break the quotes (seen in that link) up instead.

On a side note, and I know you won't like this, but there should probably also be a little criticism of Houston's voice with regard to the sentiment that she lost her singing voice these last couple or few years. I mentioned that here. I'm not saying that I will add that information. Only that you should expect that I or someone else may add it. I liked Whitney too, and of course still like her music now that she's gone. My mom is a huge Whitney Houston fan, but that doesn't mean that a section discussing her voice shouldn't also discuss the belief that she lost it. In fact, a section on her voice should discuss this very thing. The same goes for the Mariah Carey article; I was surprised that I didn't see any mention that she may have or definitely has lost her voice. But then I remember that these articles are often written by fans. Flyer22 (talk) 14:23, 20 February 2012 (UTC)Reply

Emmys awarded to Whitney Houston

edit

I recently edited the Whitney Houston article to reflect a single Emmy win, instead of two. When you reverted, your edit summary mentions a 1988 Emmy for Outstanding Musical Performance in a Sports Program, but I can't find a reliable source to confirm, and a search of the Emmys database lists a single (1986) win and another nomination. While I suppose it's possible the Emmys database is incomplete, is there a reliable source for a second Emmy that could be cited in the article itself? — HipLibrarianship talk 22:37, 25 February 2012 (UTC)Reply

Speedy deletion nomination of 2019 Utah Film Critics Association Awards

If this is the first article that you have created, you may want to read the guide to writing your first article.

You may want to consider using the Article Wizard to help you create articles.

A tag has been placed on 2019 Utah Film Critics Association Awards requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section A7 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the article appears to be about an organized event (tour, function, meeting, party, etc.) that does not credibly indicate how or why the subject is important or significant: that is, why an article about that subject should be included in an encyclopedia. Under the criteria for speedy deletion, such articles may be deleted at any time. Please read more about what is generally accepted as notable.

If you think this page should not be deleted for this reason, you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Contest this speedy deletion". This will give you the opportunity to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. However, be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be deleted without delay. This includes the authority to impose site bans, topic bans, editing restrictions, and other measures needed to maintain our editing environment. The arbitration policy describes the Committee's roles and responsibilities in greater detail.

Proposed deletion of File:WHNationalLottery.jpg

edit

The file File:WHNationalLottery.jpg has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:

Decorative screencaps are not allowed. This fails WP:NFCC#8, given that the visual is not discussed or critiqued anywhere in the text.

While all constructive contributions to Wikipedia are appreciated, pages may be deleted for any of several reasons.

You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{proposed deletion/dated files}} notice, but please explain why in your edit summary or on the file's talk page.

Please consider addressing the issues raised. Removing {{proposed deletion/dated files}} will stop the proposed deletion process, but other deletion processes exist. In particular, the speedy deletion process can result in deletion without discussion, and files for discussion allows discussion to reach consensus for deletion. ♠PMC(talk) 06:27, 10 February 2022 (UTC)Reply
