A380 cutaway

edit

Hey, great job on the A380 cutaway. Think you're ready to try an SVG version of the giant planes diagram? —Joseph/N328KF (Talk) 05:10, 9 August 2006 (UTC)Reply

Thanks, and Yes. I used this cutaway to come up to speed on InkScape, which comes with a bitmap tracer that will make the giant plane conversion very easy. Only one hitch: Boeing isn't sure how long the B748I will be. --Ctillier 14:24, 9 August 2006 (UTC)Reply

Do you think you could do a 747-400 vs. 747-8 Intercontinental overlay for the Boeing 747-8 article? Thanks. —Joseph/N328KF (Talk) 06:30, 13 December 2006 (UTC)Reply

Hey Joseph, I tried it, but it didn't work visually... as expected, the shapes are almost the same, with the nose, tail and wingtips sticking out a tad further. It's not nearly as striking as the original comparison drawing, and probably not worth the column-inches. I think the information is much better conveyed by the numerical specs already in the article. (As an aside, I discovered Boeing's stash of DXF drawings of all their airplanes... I wish Airbus did that!) --Ctillier 03:59, 15 December 2006 (UTC)Reply
What about a side-only view for a length comparison? —Joseph/N328KF (Talk) 17:04, 15 December 2006 (UTC)Reply

Giant Plane Comparison

edit

Excellent job on the new comparison - looks much, much better. The only issue is, according to Wikipedia:Image policy, Non-commercial licenses are not acceptable. Your license tag says CC-BY-SA which is fine but the text on the side of the image and the Permissions box says CC-NO-SA, which I'm afraid you'll have to change. Personally I'd welcome allowing non-commercial licenses but there we are. --Yummifruitbat 09:18, 27 August 2006 (UTC)Reply

Oops. I knew I'd screw up the license somehow... I will need to figure out how to update the info, probably later today. Thanks for bringing this to my attention. --Ctillier 16:39, 27 August 2006 (UTC)Reply
No probs... Licenses are at the front of my brain at the moment after a couple of confusing discussions about photos. I must teach myself Inkscape, it looks nifty. --Yummifruitbat 19:27, 27 August 2006 (UTC)Reply
I left you a message about the same thing, at your Commons account. Sorry for the duplicate info. Bastiqueparler voir 16:42, 27 August 2006 (UTC)Reply
Okay, all fixed. --Ctillier 03:57, 28 August 2006 (UTC)Reply

Hi, it was me who nominated it, and I've just realised Lockheed C-5 Galaxy should be there; why is it not? - Jack (talk) 01:26, 10 October 2006 (UTC)Reply
Mostly because of clutter. The 747-8 is the smallest aircraft on the diagram, and the C-5 is smaller than the 747-8 in length, wingspan and max takeoff weight. If the C-5 was added we would also need to add the Antonov 124. In any case, thanks very much for nominating my diagram, I appreciate it! cheers --Ctillier 05:43, 10 October 2006 (UTC)Reply

A380 Photo

edit

Thanks Ctillier. I have uploaded the cropped and contrast adjusted photo on my user page which you can use. I also updated this photo on the A380 page. Have a look and tell me if it looks alright? Also I am quite new to wikipedia, and would like to know how I can submit my images to wiki commons for future photos. Do i need a new username and accound!? let me know please. I also have many more photos which I have taken of the A380 as well as the Boeing 777. Feel free to contact me if you need any photos and look at the photo you requested on my user page.Best Regards Gaurang --G_patkar 05:14 AM GMT, 26 September 2006 (UTC)

Yes, you need a separate account. You can then simply include images directly from the Commons, and projects in other languages can include your photos as well. Thanks for the update, it looks much better! I wish I could have been at Dubai to see it. --Ctillier 06:39, 26 September 2006 (UTC)Reply
Thanks Ctillier. One last thing. I don't want to consume too much webspace on wiki's servers. Is there a way to delete old images I have contributed? Thanks --G_patkar 05:50 AM GMT, 26 September 2006 (UTC)

Spec Table

edit

Really You like the new table? It took me 1 hour to get it done. At least I did something right where you agree with it.--Bangabalunga 06:58, 29 September 2006 (UTC)Reply

Yes, I really do like it. Where do you get the impression that I do not agree with you? cheers --Ctillier 22:44, 30 September 2006 (UTC)Reply

Other Planes

edit

Hey Clem how are you?

I was wondering if you would help clean up other articles as well or do you like the A380 too much to move away from it. I have extensively overhauled 12 Boeing/Airbus/Ilyushin articles but I can use all the help I can get.

thanks--Bangabalunga 23:25, 2 October 2006 (UTC)Reply

Hi there, Bangabalunga (shall I call you Bangabalunga?) Yes, I'd like to help... although you can tell I have a soft spot for the A380. What do you have in mind that is the most pressing?

Doin' all right... been pretty busy, with less editing time lately. By the way, I never thanked you for the barnstar you gave me... so, Thanks! cheers --Ctillier 21:54, 7 July 2007 (UTC)Reply
