Hi,
This is an article on Jstor that I linked to on the page with his complete biography of Kingdon Tregosse Frost: https://www.jstor.org/stable/20568249?read-now=1&seq=2#page_scan_tab_contents
Jstor is the most trusted source of historical information en England and in the entire world, especially one of the top sites used on Wikipedia for historical stuff.
How is this not a reliable source? Please explain to me... Cyberarchéologue (talk) 10:04, 10 November 2024 (UTC)Reply
Happy to explain.
Firstly, JSTOR is not a source, it's a library; a 'portal' to sources, if you like. The actual source behind that link is the Ulster Journal of Archaeology.
Secondly, that source wasn't actually referenced in the draft. (Yes, I can see that it is now.) We only look at references, not other external links.
Thirdly, I didn't say that particular source isn't reliable. As I explained in my comments, sources must be reliable (ref #4 seems to be a WordPress blog) and published (#1 appears to be a diary). It wasn't clear what #2 was. And most of the draft content isn't referenced, so we have no way of knowing where the majority of the information has come from.

Thank you for your reply. But I don't understand where do we go from here?
You just drop the whole article? Cyberarchéologue (talk) 16:11, 10 November 2024 (UTC)Reply
I have to admit that I'm very confused. I do a lot, a lot of research, and tons of informations on Wiki articles are untrue and wrong. Here I only have one source, reliable too, and published, where I found all this and you would rather just drop the whole thing?? I don't get the logic here. Cyberarchéologue (talk) 16:14, 10 November 2024 (UTC)Reply
Have you read the Ulster reference? Cyberarchéologue (talk) 16:14, 10 November 2024 (UTC)Reply
Do you want me to add the Ulster reference to every paragraph? Cyberarchéologue (talk) 16:18, 10 November 2024 (UTC)Reply
I haven't "dropped" anything, if by that you mean pulled the proverbial plug on this draft, or nixed it, or thrown it by the way side. That would be what we call rejection, which means "end of the road, do not proceed any further". I merely declined this draft, which means "this may be acceptable, but certain issues need to be addressed first; please continue developing it, and resubmit later".
Yes, you are expected to cite every paragraph, that is the bare minimum of referencing. (You also must cite every direct quotation, and any potentially contentious statements.) You can, and often should, cite the same source multiple times, against each fact that it supports; see WP:NAMEDREFS for advice on how to do that.
Whether some information in some other Wikipedia articles is wrong – and I'm sure that is the case – isn't what we're discussing here; we're talking about the sourcing of your draft. Let's get this draft to a publishable state, and we can then worry about the other articles out there. -- DoubleGrazing (talk) 17:17, 10 November 2024 (UTC)Reply
Alright will do so, thank you. But no time now... I hope I have time later Cyberarchéologue (talk) 07:56, 11 November 2024 (UTC)Reply
