Obama

edit

Hi DCjeangrey. I'll start by noting that I think we're in agreement that the Obama article should discuss his views on abortion. The article currently says very little about them. However, the specific bill in question and Obama's involvement in opposing it would need to be documented in reliable sources through which its notability could be verified. The only source that I was able to find in my (brief) search that discussed the bill was the conservative opinion piece that you added as a source originally. Opinion pieces are typically not acceptable sources to prove notability nor are they usually reliable sources for facts. Since the bill in question is a state bill and since there don't seem to be many (if any) further sources available that discuss it, its notability (for the purpose of Obama's Wikipedia article) is perhaps dubious. Of course, if you know of other, reliable sources that discuss the specific bill, please let me know. The best place to start a discussion like that is probably on the Obama talk page. Finally, I don't mean to discourage you from contributing here. In fact, I encourage you to work on incorporating Obama's more general stance on abortion (referenced to reliable sources, of course) into the article if you like.
