File permission problem with File:Master of The Mix, DJMellStarrW.jpg
editThanks for uploading File:Master of The Mix, DJMellStarrW.jpg, which you've sourced to SmileforSonya. I noticed that while you provided a valid copyright licensing tag, there is no proof that the creator of the file agreed to license it under the given license.
If you created this media entirely yourself but have previously published it elsewhere (especially online), please either
- make a note permitting reuse under the CC-BY-SA or another acceptable free license (see this list) at the site of the original publication; or
- Send an email from an address associated with the original publication to permissions-en wikimedia.org, stating your ownership of the material and your intention to publish it under a free license. You can find a sample permission letter here. If you take this step, add {{OTRS pending}} to the file description page to prevent premature deletion.
If you did not create it entirely yourself, please ask the person who created the file to take one of the two steps listed above, or if the owner of the file has already given their permission to you via email, please forward that email to permissions-en wikimedia.org.
If you believe the media meets the criteria at Wikipedia:Non-free content, use a tag such as {{non-free fair use in|article name}} or one of the other tags listed at Wikipedia:File copyright tags#Fair use, and add a rationale justifying the file's use on the article or articles where it is included. See Wikipedia:File copyright tags for the full list of copyright tags that you can use.
If you have uploaded other files, consider checking that you have provided evidence that their copyright owners have agreed to license their works under the tags you supplied, too. You can find a list of files you have created in your upload log. Files lacking evidence of permission may be deleted one week after they have been tagged, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. You may wish to read the Wikipedia's image use policy. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. Stefan2 (talk) 18:28, 9 May 2012 (UTC)

editHello DJ Mell Starr. We welcome your contributions to Wikipedia, but if you are affiliated with some of the people, places or things you have written about on Wikipedia, you may have a conflict of interest or close connection to the subject.
All editors are required to comply with Wikipedia's neutral point of view content policy. People who are very close to a subject often have a distorted view of it, which may cause them to inadvertently edit in ways that make the article either too flattering or too disparaging. People with a close connection to a subject are not absolutely prohibited from editing about that subject, but they need to be especially careful about ensuring their edits are verified by reliable sources and writing with as little bias as possible.
If you are very close to a subject, here are some ways you can reduce the risk of problems:
- Avoid or exercise great caution when editing or creating articles related to you, your organization, or its competitors, as well as projects and products they are involved with.
- Be cautious about deletion discussions. Everyone is welcome to provide information about independent sources in deletion discussions, but avoid advocating for deletion of articles about your competitors.
- Avoid linking to the Wikipedia article or website of your organization in other articles (see Wikipedia:Spam).
- Exercise great caution so that you do not accidentally breach Wikipedia's content policies.
Please familiarize yourself with relevant content policies and guidelines, especially those pertaining to neutral point of view, verifiability of information, and autobiographies.
For information on how to contribute to Wikipedia when you have a conflict of interest, please see our frequently asked questions for organizations. Thank you. Яehevkor ✉ 18:54, 9 May 2012 (UTC)

The message you left on my userpage.
editHi! Thanks for contacting me. I understand you are having some issues with publishing your first page. There are a number of issues that can arise when creating a page about yourself (or in your case, your husband). First off, you need to be aware of Conflict of interest. I would have a read through there as this can get brought up alot when you get round to publishing your page. Second, you should also read about notability. In a nutshell, the object you are writing your article about needs to be notable, and it needs to be widely recognised. Third, you can't put an article as your main userpage. It has to go into article space. This is why it was deleted. I will take a look at the sandbox now and see what other advice I can offer at the moment. MrLittleIrish (talk) 申 14:57, 11 May 2012 (UTC)
- Thank you for your quick response. I have read the COI, thank you for the heads up. I would like your opinion... he is my husband yes, but there is notable info that can be entered into Wikipedia. Should I stop the project now and wait for someone else to do it. I don't want to violate rules. I just want the notable info to be entered into Wikipedia. What do you suggest I do at this point? DJ Mell Starr 15:06, 11 May 2012 (UTC)
- No need to stop, just make sure you follow that guideline closely. You need to take a look at the area's that say citation needed, and try find a source for these. MrLittleIrish (talk) 申 15:09, 11 May 2012 (UTC)

You can't do that
editWe invite everyone to contribute constructively to our encyclopedia, but users are not allowed to edit with inappropriate usernames, and trolling or other disruptive behavior is not tolerated. Orangemike, I'm sorry but this is a very "Gestapo-like" block. There are several experienced editors busy helping this user to become a good contributor. You did not bother to actually explain to this user that it does not matter if she really is his wife and has his permission to use his name because Wikipedia username rules do not allow it under any circumstances. This user should be helped to complete the username change process, not get stomped on like a real bad-faith vandal. Please reverse this block and allow sufficient time for the user to complete the username change process. (Unfortunately I really need to get to bed now - it's almost midnight here, so I will not be able to participate in any activity here until about 07:00 UTC tomorrow.) {{unblock|reason=Your reason here ~~~~}}
below this notice. Thank you. At the urging of Roger, I am delighted to change the nature of this block as a gesture of goodwill. I was startled and horrified to see that this account was using someone else's name, a major taboo in usernames here; but I was not intending to kick or "bite" someone whom other editors had been trying to help, in the Teahouse and elsewwhere. --Orange Mike | Talk 23:34, 11 May 2012 (UTC)

Request reason:
I am DJ Mell Starr & I do not type. I gave my Wife permission. I am a DJ and apologize if rules were broken. I will have my Wife create her own page and start from scratch which is very unfortunate cause she's been working on this project day & night. Thank you
Decline reason:
If your wife is going to create her own account and carry on editing, and you do not wish to edit using this account, then I see no need to unblock it. As Dodger67 says below, there's no "starting from scratch" needed, she can simply carry on from where this account left off. -- Boing! said Zebedee (talk) 09:02, 12 May 2012 (UTC)
If you want to make any further unblock requests, please read the guide to appealing blocks first, then use the {{unblock}} template again. If you make too many unconvincing or disruptive unblock requests, you may be prevented from editing this page until your block has expired. Do not remove this unblock review while you are blocked.
Dodger67..THANK YOU. THANK YOU FOR HELPING MY WIFE. She is a VERY good women & means no harm to Wikipedia DJ Mell Starr (talk) 03:10, 12 May 2012 (UTC)
- "Mrs DJ" as soon as you have registered a new username please just post a note here so that we can continue interacting with you. I supose as your husband has no interest in working on WP himself it is probably best to simply abandon this user account. The work done under this account will still remain, nothing has to be 'started from scratch'. The article DJ Mell Starr still exists and can be improved and expanded (there currently are a few 'problem tags' on it that need to be attended to.) Oh and don't forget that there is a 'whole universe' of other article to work on too. Roger (talk) 06:50, 12 May 2012 (UTC)
- I have a registered User Name: QTPepsi. It has been active since 2011. I would now like to move along with this project. Can someone please advise me on what I need to do next? DJ Mell Starr (talk)
