Hi DSWebb. I see your addition of taxobox to this article. In my opinion, calico shouldn't have a taxobox as it is not a taxonimical article. It's not a species or subspicies, it's not even a breed. Calico is just a color pattern that can happen to many breeds of goldfish and possibly other related cyprinids too. This article definitely needs some cleanup and the taxobox is probably not supposed to be there. What do you think? --Melanochromis 20:44, 4 March 2007 (UTC)
- Well, if you insist, I guess we can leave the taxobox there for now. But in the future all taxobox in goldfish breed articles will be replaced with "breed box" (per WikiProject Tree of Life guidelines) just like in the case of dog breeds, cat breeds, and horse breeds. Maybe you might be interested to design the breed box? Cheers. --Melanochromis 21:32, 4 March 2007 (UTC)
- That's great! I'll be happy to help filling in origins of breeds. --Melanochromis 18:04, 5 March 2007 (UTC)
Goldfish breed box
editExcellent job with the breed box. I was researching origin of each breed and came across some more breed standards that you might be interested to use. It's here. This AFCCSF (Aquarium Fish Committee of the China Society of Fisheries) seems like an important Chinese club and even has government fisheries officials as their committee. I suspect we will find a lot more info about it if we can research in the Chinese language. Unfortunately, I don't understand Chinese beyond some 50 most basic words. --Melanochromis 20:03, 6 March 2007 (UTC)
Hi. It seems I have not read the same news as you have read: see Talk:Clouded Leopard#New range map, but also the forst paragraph in today's WWF issue. Did WWF make any mistake? I think they most insist about Borneo because they work on Heart of Borneo program, but that it doesn't mean that clouded leopards found on Sumatra island as different, and should have to be ranged with the continental clouded leopards... Hi! I'm serving as the wikipedian-in-residence at the Smithsonian Institution Archives until June! One of my goals as resident, is to work with Wikipedians and staff to improve content on Wikipedia about people who have collections held in the Archives - most of these are scientists who held roles within the Smithsonian and/or federal government. I thought you might like to participate since you are interested in the sciences! Sign up to participate here and dive into articles needing expansion and creation on our to-do list. Feel free to make a request for images or materials at the request page, and of course, if you share your successes at the outcomes page you will receive the SIA barnstar! Thanks for your interest, and I look forward to your participation! Sarah (talk) 20:00, 16 April 2012 (UTC) |
