Are you sure...

...that you are still semi-retired? 745 edits so far this month, and 13 days still to go! JamesBWatson (talk) 11:08, 18 December 2013 (UTC)

Hadn't realised it was that many although the majority were in relation to categories. I was thinking of removing the semi-retired template but not sure if I'll be around much beyond next week. ★☆ DUCKISJAMMMY☆★ 11:21, 18 December 2013 (UTC)
Oh well, nice to meet you briefly. Enjoy your retirement if you do drop back out. JamesBWatson (talk) 11:28, 18 December 2013 (UTC)
Likewise and thanks. ★☆ DUCKISJAMMMY☆★ 11:30, 18 December 2013 (UTC)
End of month total 1734: your second highest monthly total ever. I think that answers my question. Welcome back. JamesBWatson (talk) 14:29, 2 January 2014 (UTC)

I left you a response.

Thanks!

Thank you for the response, as I did not want to confuse or inadvertently mislead the group. I plan to stay as far away from the deletion discussion as possible and literally counting down the minutes until it's over! Happy New Year CAcarissima (talk) 04:10, 1 January 2014 (UTC)

Re: Rafael Pereira da Silva (footballer born 1990)

Bj94 (talk · contribs) failed to update the date for career stats table, and as the burden falls on them I reverted. This individual has a record dating years in failing to update stats properly, and the only way they'll ever learn is through being reverted and warned. Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Kiley Gaffney

Thanks for del sorting. However, you'll find she is not involved with visual arts. LibStar (talk) 12:50, 6 January 2014 (UTC)

Apologies, I meant to sort under Arts given she is a performing artist which I've now done although we had a edit conflict at Visual arts as I was also in the process of removing. :) ★☆ DUCKISJAMMMY☆★ 13:03, 6 January 2014 (UTC)

Deleted article Nickola Shreli resurrected

Hi. I just encountered the Nickola Shreli article & was about to nominate it for deletion when I checked the talk page and noted that it had just been deleted.

I suspect that AlbertBikaj doesn't comprehend what not notable and deletion actually means, as he/she has reinstated the page. Cheers! EDIT Note that I have left the same message on Northamerica1000's talk page. --Iryna Harpy (talk) 00:20, 8 January 2014 (UTC)

Hello Iryna, the previous AfD was closed as speedy delete due to copyright reasons. Had the previous AfD been closed as delete due to notability issues then the newly recreated article would have been speedy deleted via G4, but it wasn't. As it would seem the article is non-notable so NorthAmerica has taken the correct course of action in prodding the article. ★☆ DUCKISJAMMMY☆★ 11:45, 8 January 2014 (UTC)
Thanks, DUCKISJAMMMY. Yes, I did note that it hadn't gone through the entire formal process. The user it at it again with IMDB links and some sort of online gossip ezine which, from even just a cursory look, wouldn't pass RS. I'm not going to bother with trying to clear it up as the user has contacted me, so I'll just point him to SPS, NOTRELIABLE, BASIC, GNG, etc. I'll keep my eye out for the deletion review. Thanks! --Iryna Harpy (talk) 20:51, 8 January 2014 (UTC)

Daniel Carriço

Hi there DJ, AL "here",

rest assured my friend, my summary (which i agree wasn't all that necessary, the first part that is) was not directed at you, but at the anon user. Let that be clear as can be :) Great work "catching" his misdeeds and reverting them!

Happy 2014/editing/weekend (you go ahead and choose the order) --AL (talk) 18:50, 17 January 2014 (UTC)

Season Articles

At the start of the season i warned the creators of the other season articles they must update them, however it seems they gave up half way through. Against my better judgement I've updated most of them, Aberdeen, East Stirling & Dunfermline excluded. ill get to the first two however want advice on 2013–14 Dunfermline Athletic F.C. season. Not in a million years do i have the time to virtually start from scratch creating it, nor can i see anyone else doing it. Was going to prod it but not sure.Blethering Scot 20:50, 18 January 2014 (UTC)

If you think you would have time / would like to then that would be great. Only if you think you can though as thats a hell of a lot of work.Blethering Scot 14:54, 19 January 2014 (UTC)
Very impressed. Thanks.Blethering Scot 16:18, 23 January 2014 (UTC)

Deletion of Michael Birkin page

Hello DuckIsJammy:

I am contacting you regarding the deletion of the Wikipedia page for Michael Birkin, a British businessman (link: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wikipedia:Articles_for_deletion/Michael_Birkin). As I understand the conversation, the page was deleted because Mr. Birkin was viewed as having accomplished "what would be expected of a businessman of his level" and because the page was an orphan.

I would like to provide additional information to augment the information on the original page that includes the following:

His work at Interbrand, where he was a major player in the growth of the company from a single, UK office into a global consulting firm (link: http://www.fundinguniverse.com/company-histories/interbrand-corporation-history/) is notable not only because of his success in building a business, but also because of his being a key contributor to Interbrand's brand valuation tool. In that regard, Mr. Birkin is a published author and widely cited expert on the topic of brand valuation. As an author he is a contributor to the book Brand Power (ISBN 0-8147-7965-4) which is referenced in a Wikipedia entry on Brand (link: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Brand). One indicator of the impact and acceptance of his work is that that the publicly traded company Infosys refers to Mr. Birkin's published work in explaining how it determined the value of its own brand ("We have adapted the generic brand-earnings-multiple model (reference : Valuation of Trademarks and Brand Names by Michael Birkin in the book,Brand Valuation, edited by John Murphy and published by Business Books Limited, London) to value our corporate brand, ‘Infosys’. Link: http://www.infosys.com/investors/reports-filings/annual-report/annual/Documents/AR-2011/ai_15.html ).

In addition to his work in brand valuation, Mr. Birkin has been a top executive at the publicly trade marketing agency holding company, Omnicom Group; is a successful entrepreneur, having launched Red Peak Group; and is now the chief marketing officer of the global, publicly traded company Acer. He is referenced in Acer's wikipedia entry: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Acer_Inc.

I would like to advocate for the reinstatement of Mr. Birkin's entry on Wikipedia, with inclusions of additional links to other Wikipedia pages (i.e., for brand and for Acer, entries not originated from me).

Hello DuckIsJammy: Thank you for your help re: the deleted article on Michael Birkin. I have written to Tone, and await his response. Much appreciated! --Herve49727 (talk) 19:58, 29 January 2014 (UTC)

About Daniel Rodrigo de Oliveira

Dear DUCKISJAMMMY, I looked for creation of the article about Daniel Rodrigo de Oliveira who plays in the Ukrainian Premier League, and I found, that you are created it: User:DUCKISJAMMMY/Daniel Rodrigo de Oliveira. In my mind, it's completely sufficient! Why would you not put this draft as a full article? Sincerely, --Noel baran (talk) 06:57, 2 May 2014 (UTC)

List of members of WikiProject Football

Hi! A few months ago, you have updated the list of active members of WikiProject Football, and I wonder you did it: was it manually or with a bot? I am currently writing a bot to do exactly this (for many different WikiProjects). Cheers -- Pintoch (talk) 08:48, 16 August 2014 (UTC)

OK, your edit was so clean that I couldn't think you had done it manually! The bot should be available soon. Should I give up at some point, you also have Dispenser's useractivity.py that can help check the contributions (but it won't update the table for you). Cheers − Pintoch (talk) 07:33, 17 August 2014 (UTC)
Yeah, I have to admit that it wasn't very clear indeed. I wanted to say that if for some reason the bot is not accepted, or is broken, or simply I stop maintaining it in the future, there are some other tools around. But I do want it to work and be useful! Simply I observe that many bot maintainers tend not to stick to their duty forever… Pintoch (talk) 17:52, 17 August 2014 (UTC)

changing or deleting users comments

i agree with you, and yes I have quite a bit to learn, usually I just correct misspellings, some grammar and historical inaccuracies, but i was bored :)

thanks They call me Mister Tibbs (talk) 13:48, 5 November 2014 (UTC)

Nationality

Would you mean, for example, someone like Raheem Sterling (born in Jamaica) before he was capped for England? In that case I would include both nationality categories, but have the lede as the 'primary' nationality (in this case English, regardless of place of birth, as confirmed by RS). GiantSnowman 19:27, 5 November 2014 (UTC)

What makes him Scottish? GiantSnowman 19:45, 5 November 2014 (UTC)
If reliable sources describe him as Scottish then he is Scottish - his place of birth is irrelevant. On a side-note you can retrieve dead links from this. GiantSnowman 20:05, 5 November 2014 (UTC)
Yep, look fine to me. GiantSnowman 20:33, 5 November 2014 (UTC)
Oh, and for SFL, any of these what you are after? GiantSnowman 20:35, 5 November 2014 (UTC)

Bare URLs

Not really a problem tbh, slightly annoying yes but a bare URL is better than no source at all... GiantSnowman 10:33, 6 November 2014 (UTC)

Gary Oliver

This Queen of the South player's career statistics box that I'm going to be updating, I usually get Blethering Scot to help me out but he's retired from Wikipedia for now. I'm having trouble aligning the figures for the "Career total" you'll notice at the foot of the box and I also cannot get the link for Stenhousemuir's 2014-15 season's page to work as it is still showing in red. Your help and assistance in this would be most appreciated. I'm going to check that Oliver's stats from the football stats website match-up before finalising the career stats box, then add a link under external links to this and perhaps delete Oliver's twitter link also. Rusty1111 : Talk 22:08, 2 November 2015 (UTC)

User:Rusty1111 Im around if you need me. Ive fixed the table layout. The Stenhousemuir article doesn't exist as yet, hence the red link. Feel free to remove the twitter link but it probably does pass as an official external link. Soccer way & Soccerbase are already included as refs, probably wouldn't add as an external link as well.Blethering Scot 20:11, 3 November 2015 (UTC)

Many thanks with all your help with this. Most appreciated. Rusty1111 : Talk 14:33, 4 November 2015 (UTC)

ArbCom elections are now open!

Hi,
You appear to be eligible to vote in the current Arbitration Committee election. The Arbitration Committee is the panel of editors responsible for conducting the Wikipedia arbitration process. It has the authority to enact binding solutions for disputes between editors, primarily related to serious behavioural issues that the community has been unable to resolve. This includes the ability to impose site bans, topic bans, editing restrictions, and other measures needed to maintain our editing environment. The arbitration policy describes the Committee's roles and responsibilities in greater detail. If you wish to participate, you are welcome to review the candidates' statements and submit your choices on the voting page.
