Orchids Wiki

edit

Please send me a message on flickr (not sure which pics are yours there). Sorry for the late reply I don't check flickr often. The reason why I branched to wikia instead of wikipedia is that wikia allows culture information whereas wikia does not. Wikia also allow more open discussions on forums, talk pages, and IRC which allows more user interaction and help. Both wikia and wikipedia are basically ran by the same people.--Cs california (talk) 07:11, 26 October 2008 (UTC)Reply

Common names

edit

Yeah, the debate is getting really tedious now. It's been going on for almost two months with no change in position by either party. The majority of editors have sided with scientific names. I wanted to say thanks for your "outsider" thoughts on the naming convention discussion. Some people seem damn determined to force their interpretation of policy on others for the sake of what they believe to be conformity in spite of the fact that there would be a net negative effect on productivity and organization. Why they do so is anyone's guess. Thanks again! Cheers, Rkitko (talk) 20:48, 28 January 2009 (UTC)Reply

Wikipedia naming conventions for organisms

edit

Hi, Dalton, I suggest moving the discussion to one central location where everyone can hash it out. I don't know how interested you are in doing this rather than writing articles, but here's my post:

I suggest that Wikipedia should change its naming conventions for organism articles to require scientific names, and this suggestion should be discussed fully at Wikipedia naming conventions. --KP Botany (talk) 19:43, 31 January 2009 (UTC)Reply

Naming Conventions. RFC: Removal of exceptions to "use common names" passage.

edit

This is to inform you that removing exceptions to the use of "most Common Names" as the titles of Wikipedia articles from the the Talk:Naming_Conventions policy page, is the subject of a referral for Comment (RfC). This follows recent changes by some editors.

You are being informed as an editor previously involved in discussion of these issues relevant to that policy page. You are invited to comment at this location. Xandar 21:38, 13 September 2009 (UTC)Reply
