Welcome back!
editHello, DanStevens, and welcome back; I've notice you've not edited in a while! Unfortunately, your recent efforts to delete the article Ruscism suggest that you may have a misunderstanding of Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. If you would like to reacquaint yourself with them or simply wish to note any changes since you began editing, a decently comprehensive guide to them is available here. Again, welcome back, and happy editing! ~ Pbritti (talk) 05:49, 28 July 2023 (UTC)
- Thank you for restoring my comment. I have noticed you left a message on your user page regarding feeling like others were impatient with you. Please understand that when other editors disagree with you–even vehemently–most want the best for you both on this project and offline. If you want help finding a Wikipedia community that can appreciate your knowledge, abilities, or experience, perhaps ask around the Teahouse or view some of the WikiProjects on topics you have subject-matter expertise with. I hope you consider staying and feel welcome here. If you want any help finding anything, please reach out to me or any of the excellent people at the Teahouse. ~ Pbritti (talk) 05:47, 31 July 2023 (UTC)
- Thank you and I'm sorry for misunderstanding. You can ignore the email I had sent asking to be left alone. It's a contentious issue and I probably should have just ignored the page despite my strong feelings about it. DanStevens (talk) 05:53, 31 July 2023 (UTC)
- It would be wrong to encourage you to shy away from issues you care strongly about. I refrain from frequently editing in some subject matters I know I am emotional about, but I occasionally contribute when my expertise overlaps with these subjects. Wikipedia doesn't have rules, per se, but one of the most important rules is that this ought to be fun or at least gratifying. If you derive gratification from engaging in challenging but civil dialogue that results in an improved article (as I think your AfD will result in), you are doing a good thing while having a good time. Please don't get discouraged by a mistake—I make them here all the time. I hope you stick around. Because my greeting likely came off as canned and insincere originally, I want to repeat it with a smile and a great deal of hope: welcome back, and happy editing! ~ Pbritti (talk) 06:06, 31 July 2023 (UTC)
