The discussion pages on some articles here are even more aggressive and full of personal attacks than on PvP online with american players, so I need a break from these edit wars, but judging from my past history, I shall be back sooner or later.DanielDemaret 23:52, 22 March 2006 (UTC)

Akkari - Imam or not ?

It's tricky. Lots of sources (including the Reuters one I included myself) call him "Imam". Others I've come across specifically deny that. He himself denied it only a fortnight ago. (Don't know what he claims now). "Imam" has, not in strict sense of the word - but in common use certainly, always a religious undercurrent. For the leader of an organization "rais" would more likely be used. I personally feel that the use of the title "Imam" for anybody with less credentials than as at least regular and (by his flock) commonly accepted prayer leader or religious guide is unwarranted. Akkari doesn't have a parish or community or whatever you'd prefer top call it. Others may think that his involvement in the cartoon affair has given him enough clout to be called one. I'm willing to try to dig up the reference of Akkari himself saying he isn't an Imam, if we can't find a wording that caters to the uncertainty. Azate 22:07, 23 March 2006 (UTC)

A question

Yesterday, back at my job, I had opportunity to scan the week's press clippings from the Turkish press. It seems as if, out of the blue, there is now an entirely different tune being sung: Basically, they all carry stories about how valuable the Danes have found the opportunity presented by the JP-Mohammad cartoons to be educated about the Prophet, how they now all can see that Islam is really peaceful, and they they all apologize very much, curse their government and want to collect money to build a giant mosque. A collegue, who did some of the Arab papers said that it's the same tendency there.

I understand that you live in Denmark, yes? Is there any truth to this swing in public perception, because here in Germany the attitude toward Muslims is certainly hardening, as far as I can judge that. Are the Danish really so different from the Germans?

Discourse on Method

Greetings. I came across the article via the Random article feature and made the changes I thought would help. I didn't realize until I looked later at the history that you were in the middle of things. I will be glad to help out - and have a copy here somewhere - but I'm not sure how much time I will have to do so. I like the Coordinate photo - its gives you a good idea of what they are if you don't know. But the dy/dx didn't add too much for me. I will check the page now-and-then and update what I can.
