Denny

edit

hi for Denny the history is well done I think. Just need references. Thesan2187 (talk) 05:56, 25 August 2024 (UTC)Reply

What references are best for Denny? I think it relies too much on Wigtown's history. Would need changes Daniel Plumber (talk) 06:15, 25 August 2024 (UTC)Reply
we should search archives for creation date, should be in first half of 16th century. After that we need to track the land ownership in the centuries, providing that was incorporated in the Barony if Torpichen in 1563. So at one point later it has been taken out of that barony. Found some prior writs in the Charter Chest for Dundonald. Thought? Daniel Plumber (talk) 07:52, 25 August 2024 (UTC)Reply
seems like the barony was incorporated into an earldom or regality Daniel Plumber (talk) 07:55, 25 August 2024 (UTC)Reply
we can use that as reference from 1563 charter until 1634 charter Thesan2187 (talk) 08:01, 25 August 2024 (UTC)Reply
We can use these three books as reference for Denny history. Is ok for now?

Cool, I'll start working on it. Daniel Plumber (talk) 22:54, 26 August 2024 (UTC)Reply
Ok, in those books there are a lot of references. The key fact are 2, in 1563 incorporated in torpichen and 1634 in Cummernald. Aftr this at some point it should have taken out other lordships 81.119.164.100 (talk) 07:33, 27 August 2024 (UTC)Reply
I wasn't logged in. Thesan2187 (talk) 07:34, 27 August 2024 (UTC)Reply
is Denny ready to post? Kellycrak88 (talk) 22:29, 28 August 2024 (UTC)Reply
Not yet, more refs to come. Daniel Plumber (talk) 01:44, 29 August 2024 (UTC)Reply

Next article

Mordington will be a good one next! Kellycrak88 (talk) 22:29, 28 August 2024 (UTC)Reply

Is there a need for an article dedicated to regality in addition to the barony? Mordington seems quite proud to address himself as a lord of regality. Daniel Plumber (talk) 01:46, 29 August 2024 (UTC)Reply
everything about the title should be on the same page Kellycrak88 (talk) 12:29, 29 August 2024 (UTC)Reply
Mordington seems quite proud to address himself as a lord of regality where? Kellycrak88 (talk) 12:36, 29 August 2024 (UTC)Reply

2 dignities are actually separate things, erected in 2 different times Daniel Plumber (talk) 12:43, 29 August 2024 (UTC)Reply
ah, haven't seen this - 127 pages lol - then he needs to moved from baron to lord page Kellycrak88 (talk) 12:48, 29 August 2024 (UTC)Reply
there's no evidence suggests Mordington is a lordship, just a barony erected in right of regality
he should still stay in baron page while be added to regality page - the latter which I have done Daniel Plumber (talk) 12:50, 29 August 2024 (UTC)Reply

Conflict of Interest editing

edit

Hi, I thought it might be of interest to members of the project if I was to highlight the discussion here [1] between Daniel Plumber and myself re: conflict of interest editing.

CoI editing seems to have been quite common historically on articles that now fall within the remit of the baronage project. Editors should not be editing about themselves or their families (or anywhere where they might have a financial conflict of interest, e.g. if they are paid by the subject).

Whether the editors in question have simply been editing articles that fall within the project, or if they are actually members of the project, the relevant Wikipedia policy can be found here: WP:COI. This dictates that CoI editors should declare their conflict of interest on their user page and only request changes to articles via the relevant article talk page (using the COI edit request process) rather than by directly editing the articles themselves.

When a COI editor has been directly editing an article a standard notice can be placed on the user's talk page (details of the notice can be found in the discussion linked at the top of this post). If the editor continues to edit the relevant article after receiving the notice, a report can be made at the Conflict of Interest Noticeboard (WP:COIN) with a view to the editor being blocked from editing the encyclopaedia.

Hopefully the notes above are of assistance.
