Hello, DantheCowMan/TalkArchive1!

Hello, DantheCowMan/TalkArchive1! I'm Clamster5. While creating new and interesting articles is extremely helpful to the Wikipedia project, there are more than 19,000 articles that need to cleaned up. These articles could use your knowledge and time. There are so many pages currently needing clean-up that there is guaranteed to be something that you find interesting. Even fixing up just one is a huge help. If every editor on wikipedia edited just one article each, the backlog would be cleared in no time.

Thanks! Clamster5.

Dead and feeling un-noticed?

edit

Nobody send a welcome note to me and I noticed it's a sort of a custom. By the way this is from Wikipedia:Welcome, newcomers

DROPS PANTS AND MOONS :: (________(__________)

nice isn't it... and then a bit later

Fart.

What a warm welcome.

I'm NOT into vandalism like that dude (though you got to admit he makes us laugh). Anyway I have some remarks about editing albums and I hope you can help me, since nobody else didn't even noticed my comments about this topic.

In the chronology box there should only be studio albums, usually excluding lives, compilations, singles and EPs according to Wikipedia:WikiProject_Albums. But EP's, compilations and live albums also have chronology boxes. If the one off these chronology boxes previous releases point to studio albums, then someone clicks on the studio album and no longer has acces to EP's... surfing the chronology box. I hope you get the picture. So I think that chronology boxes should include ALL releases (plus various other reasons you can find on Wikipedia_talk:WikiProject_Albums). Not to mention there isn't even a color assigned for Singles and so on.

Also I have few other questions! If you have a script like this one [1] how do you run it let's say through an edit window (if that's even remotly possible, this isn't my specialty). Also why do people use complex HTML instructions like in a album review box with

  • Guide
  • when just
  • puts the first square and other is done easily like
  • Guide link

and thats it. Please give me some basic info on this I haven't found any on wikipedia editing instructions. This looks crazy on your talk page check the edit talk page for correct formatting of my VANDALISM.

It's a bit long, sorry Dan! Death2 22:51, 6 March 2006 (UTC)Reply

Plus also forgot to ask do you add all your edits to your watchlist. I didn't cause it would be too much since everybody changes something rapidly. And how do you track recent changes other than through Special:Recentchanges. See ya! Death2 22:55, 6 March 2006 (UTC)Reply

The Insyderz

edit

You reverted my copyedit of this article from "is" to "are". "The Insyderz is" is correct because "The Insyderz" is a collective proper noun. The page was originally written using "is" as well until User:Ian Moody changed it to "are" because he is from Britain. Yes, it is correct to use "The Insyderz are" in British English, but in American English, we use the singular form for collective proper nouns. For example, we say "The United States is a country" not "The United States are a country" because "United States" is a collective proper noun. If you have any further questions or concerns regarding this, you can reply here. Thanks! —RJN 07:34, 27 March 2006 (UTC)Reply

Sorry for the misunderstanding, I was actually reverting User:Chunk fingers edit (diff for his revision, diff for my reversion, diff for your edit). Talk:Mercenary

edit

I do not want to spend time arguing about an archive of talk:mercenary, so I have archived the page with a move, although I do not think it was necessary. It is not at all clear to me why you wanted to archive the page as you have not contributed the talk page or to the article.

Moving is better because there is an audit trail. I have had the experience in the past of people accusing me of altering the archive page when archiving it. It was only because the history of the page was saved with the archive that I could prove easily that it was not tampered with. One can always copy back the last subject from the archive page onto the live page, if the section is still live. As this will be at the top of the archive history this is relatively easy to prove that it is untampered with, also the current editors can check the copied material. This is something which is difficult to do with conversations months or years old which is what happens with copy moves to archives. --Philip Baird Shearer 01:23, 29 March 2006 (UTC)Reply

Thanks for uploading Image:Universal Records Logo.png. The image description page currently specifies that the image is non-free and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. However, the image is currently orphaned, meaning that it is not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the image was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. However, please note that images for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable under fair use (see our fair use policy).

If you have uploaded other unlicensed media, please check whether they're used in any articles or not. Joshua (band) (Yet again)

edit

A tag has been placed on Joshua (band), requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done because the article appears to be a repost of material that was previously deleted following a deletion debate, such as articles for deletion. If you can indicate how Joshua (band) is different from the previously posted material, or if you can indicate why this article should not be deleted, I advise you to place the template {{hangon}} underneath the other template on the article, and also put a note on Talk:Joshua (band) saying why this article should stay. An admin should check for such edits before deleting the article. Feel free to leave a note on my talk page if you have any questions about this. Please read our criteria for speedy deletion, particularly item 4 under General criteria. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself. We welcome your help in trying to improve Wikipedia, and we request you to follow these instructions. A1octopus 22:14, 10 May 2007 (UTC)Reply

I did not believe that the page met speedy criteria. This was discussed and is now at User_talk:A1octopus/Archived_Talk,_April_07#Joshua_.28band.29. - Dan, the CowMan
My apologies. I agree that the current Joshua (band) is a vastly improved article over the original one that got deleted and therefore that the band are now proven notable and properly referenced per WP:Music. The original article had popped a couple of times since deletion before, however, and I'm affraid I got a bit trigger-happy with my deletion scripts. I'm sure it happens to every NPP occasionally, but will try to be more careful in future. A1octopus 12:25, 12 May 2007 (UTC)Reply

Fair use rationale for Image:Cdmichaelwsmith_worshipagain.jpg

edit

Thanks for uploading or contributing to Image:Cdmichaelwsmith_worshipagain.jpg. I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is no explanation or rationale as to why its use in Wikipedia articles constitutes fair use. In addition to the boilerplate fair use template, you must also write out on the image description page a specific explanation or rationale for why using this image in each article is consistent with fair use. Suggestions on how to do so can be found here.

Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to insure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.

If you have uploaded other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on those pages too. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that any fair use images uploaded after 4 May, 2006, and lacking such an explanation will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. The Sunshine Man 18:15, 22 June 2007 (UTC)Reply

Image source problem with Image:Blonde Vinyl Logo.png

edit

Image Copyright problem

This is an automated message from a robot. You have recently uploaded Image:Blonde Vinyl Logo.png. The file's description page currently doesn't specify who created the content, so the copyright status is unclear. If you did not create this file yourself, you will need to specify the owner of the copyright. If you obtained it from a website, then a link to the website from which it was taken, together with a restatement of that website's terms of use of its content, is usually sufficient information. However, if the copyright holder is different from the website's publisher, their copyright should also be acknowledged.

As well as adding the source, please add a proper copyright licensing tag if the file doesn't have one already. If you created/took the picture, audio, or video then the {{GFDL-self}} tag can be used to release it under the GFDL. If you believe the media meets the criteria at Wikipedia:Non-free content, use a tag such as {{non-free fair use in|article name}} or one of the other tags listed at Wikipedia:Image copyright tags#Fair use. See Wikipedia:Image copyright tags for the full list of copyright tags that you can use.

If you have uploaded other files, consider checking that you have specified their source and tagged them, too. You can find a list of files you have uploaded by following this link. Unsourced and untagged images may be deleted one week after they have been tagged, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If the image is copyrighted under a non-free license (per Wikipedia:Fair use) then the image will be deleted 48 hours after 19:40, 12 September 2007 (UTC). If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. If you believe you received this message in error, please notify the bot's owner. Atlanta Fest

edit

A proposed deletion template has been added to the article Atlanta Fest, suggesting that it be deleted according to the proposed deletion process. All contributions are appreciated, but this article may not satisfy Wikipedia's criteria for inclusion, and the deletion notice should explain why (see also "What Wikipedia is not" and Wikipedia's deletion policy). You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{dated prod}} notice, but please explain why you disagree with the proposed deletion in your edit summary or on its talk page. Also, please consider improving the article to address the issues raised. Even though removing the deletion notice will prevent deletion through the proposed deletion process, the article may still be deleted if it matches any of the speedy deletion criteria or it can be sent to Articles for Deletion, where it may be deleted if consensus to delete is reached. If you agree with the deletion of the article, and you are the only person who has made substantial edits to the page, please add {{db-author}} to the top of Atlanta Fest.

Orphaned non-free media (Image:FiF Logo.png)

edit

Thanks for uploading Image:FiF Logo.png. The media description page currently specifies that it is non-free and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. However, it is currently orphaned, meaning that it is not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the media was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. However, please note that media for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable for use on Wikipedia (see our policy for non-free media).

If you have uploaded other unlicensed media, please check whether they're used in any articles or not. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that all non-free media not used in any articles will be deleted after seven days, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. Thank you. BJBot (talk) 12:16, 25 March 2008 (UTC)Reply

Notability of Loud as Feathers

edit

Hello, this is a message from an automated bot. A tag has been placed on Loud as Feathers, by another Wikipedia user, requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. The tag claims that it should be speedily deleted because Loud as Feathers seems to be about a person, group of people, band, club, company, or web content, but it does not indicate how or why the subject is notable: that is, why an article about that subject should be included in an encyclopedia. Under the criteria for speedy deletion, articles that do not assert the subject's importance or significance may be deleted at any time. Please see the guidelines for what is generally accepted as notable.

To contest the tagging and request that administrators wait before possibly deleting Loud as Feathers, please affix the template {{hangon}} to the page, and put a note on its talk page. If the article has already been deleted, see the advice and instructions at WP:WMD. Feel free to contact the bot operator if you have any questions about this or any problems with this bot, bearing in mind that this bot is only informing you of the nomination for speedy deletion; it does not perform any nominations or deletions itself. Thanks for uploading Image:Bride Live.jpg. You've indicated that the image is being used under a claim of fair use, but you have not provided an adequate explanation for why it meets Wikipedia's requirements for such images. In particular, for each page the image is used on, the image must have an explanation linking to that page which explains why it needs to be used on that page. Can you please check

  • That every article it is used on is linked to from its description page.

Proposed deletion of 1940 (EP)

edit

A proposed deletion template has been added to the article 1940 (EP), suggesting that it be deleted according to the proposed deletion process.

Please consider improving the article to address the issues raised because even though removing the deletion notice will prevent deletion through the proposed deletion process, the article may still be deleted if it matches any of the speedy deletion criteria or it can be sent to Articles for Deletion, where it may be deleted if consensus to delete is reached.
